I met with Dr. Vaysman and she explained the process to me and answered all of my questions. I was still a bit hesitant and she was patient and understanding. She never pressured me to sign up. Five resulted in undesirable movements, four of which caused significant pain and suffering. The most terrifying part was when I asked for a sincere acknowledgment--or even an apology--for these mistakes, she said, "I still don't know what I have to apologize for frankly." She stated that she didn't have to give me my $3,800 back because I had signed a form at the beginning of the treatment but that she really wanted to return my money so if getting my money back was important to me, I should do what's important to her: "remove reviews". As a consumer, as a client, as a patient, I depend heavily on reviews so I was completely caught off guard by the realization that it's possible that experiences like mine can be completely silenced by waivers. Following a second visit that left my teeth worse than ever (see image), my third visit - a 20m emergency appointment to correct the mistake - proved even more disheartening. Not for a single second did Dr. Bukholts acknowledge that the movements were unintended or apologize for the pain she had caused. Her general attitude during that emergency visit was kind, gentle, attentive, however, her outward demeanor did not align with some of her comments, which conveyed the opposite. For eg, when I expressed my concern that my teeth were now moving in the wrong direction, instead of reassuring me that she hadn't intended those movements at all and they were in fact mistakes, she spent time trying to convince me that there had been a slight decrease in the gap between tooth #9 and #10 and THAT indicated progress. Her insistence on this minor improvement felt dismissive given the misalignment of the other teeth and the pain I was experiencing. During that visit, she twice framed the situation as "a work in progress". When I asked about how long it could take to fix the painful shift of tooth #7, which occurred in less than 24 hours after the 2nd visit, she stated "if it moved this way in one day it can move back in one day. It's not really that big of a movement." That explanation, delivered amid my severe pain, left me utterly confused as to what her interpretation of the situation she was. This communication style persisted throughout each visit, leaving me uncertain about whether she was dismissing my experience. It only became clear during our final visit when she labelled my reaction as "hypertrophic" and insisting that "nothing negative was done to you". Then she positioned herself as the victim and accused me of not trusting her, and implying that my genuine distress--expressed in text messages--was harassment. Exacerbating my trauma by claiming she was "suffering too"! She further claimed that because of HIPAA, she couldn't defend herself against my online reviews. She accused me of not giving her the opportunity to move my teeth because of the way I had been responding to the misalignments and pain even though each corrective visit ended in another painful and unintended pull or twist. She stated that she had approached my care in earnest, never deliberately hurting me while I was deliberately hurting her by posting my "highly prejudicial" reviews of my experience. Ultimately, I couldn't tell whether she was blaming me for the painful twists and pulls or dismissing them as minor setbacks that I had overreacted to. Nevertheless, it's deeply disturbing that a professional can look at the attached progression photos, experience the pain and anguish of their patient and, while claiming there's nothing to apologize for, insist that a refund for an incomplete service be contingent on self-censorship and that posting my review is "not fair". So, she will not refund the money and I now have to go to another dentist. To ensure transparency, I am currently preparing a video review that will showcase my text messages, additional images, and a detailed timeline of events. All quotes/claims in this review are supported by documented evidence, appt recordings/transcripts, images, and dental scans.

She sent me for physical therapy to widen the opening of my mouth which lasted for close to one year, as well as a TMJ specialist that made several devices to aid in that respect and resolve thee TMJ issue. I chose braces versus invisalign because my teeth were able to be corrected in less than one year and I love drinking coffee and would not be able to keep the invisalign in my mouth when drinking anything but water. In addition, if it wasn't for her, I would not have known that I had a lump on the upper left side of my mouth. Being an ex-cancer patient, that was extremely upsetting to me. She sent me to a neurologist to make sure that it wasn't cancer. I have had several checkups with that doctor to confirm. The technology in her office is "first class." I do believe without the best technology, she would not have known about it. Dr. Salzer invests in technology for her patients and has the cutting edge before it even hits the market!
