This is because it's such a nice course, it's along the Intercoastal and the Ocean, the condition is great, and the people here are so nice. Oh yeah, the restaurant is excellent too! Such a treat to play here. This public course is only made possible by the fact that wealthy businessman Michael Phipps (his grandfather was Henry Phipps, a partner of Andrew Carnegie in US Steel) owned all the property (and a lot more) and built it for his own personal use in 1961. It was privately owned until 1973, when Phipps sold it to the Town of Palm Beach for only $5 million. The course was renovated and redesigned in 2009 by Hall of Fame golfer Raymond Floyd, making it the great course it is today. Tee times can be booked online. They offered me a cup for water but I had my own, and I filled it at the orange Gatorade style cooler just outside of the office. There is a large sign for the bathrooms which leads to a series of port o pottys. No indoor bathrooms. They were indeed not smelly and decently clean. But no sink??? Grabbed a cart and headed to my car to load up. The started must've been on a break but I heard the two guys inside checking in for the same tee time as mine. We paired up on hole 1 and waited for the group ahead of us to clear. The carts are basic- no gps. There is a cooler with no ice. No tees. No towel. Just a Bluetooth speaker. Distances on the card led me to the red tees. The guys played from the white. The course was in pretty good shape. Some areas had bald fairways. But for $35 I really cannot complain. Greens were in great shape and so were the sand traps which unfortunately I found myself in more than once. Nice layout. Lots of nature. Slow pace. In 1:15, I made it to the green on 6, but had to go pick up mom. I excused myself around the groups ahead of us and the guys gave me a credit for $18 (future 9 hole). They yelled at a guy to come help me unload at my car and return the cart for me but I declined. My car was very close. Overall I'd say very enthusiastic and helpful service. Nice course. Range is getting an upgrade and will be ready soon. I will come back if I'm in the area, but I'd hope to go when it's not busy. Playing slow at 2:45pm in August is a sure fire way to get sunburned. And it wasn't the group ahead of us. There was a group ahead of them and ahead of them etc. it's just the way it is sometimes.

He said the swing overall looked good and corrected just a few things. He went over everything he recommended, took before and after video, and showed me where I needed corrections in the before video, and where I made the corrections in the after video. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to go to the range after the lesson. However, I played for the first time since the lesson yesterday, and I saw a huge difference in my game. I'm not a great golfer, but I had several pars and took about 6 strokes off of my normal score. I still have a long way to go but I would tell you that Frank is a great teacher and can help. If I can find time to play more golf, I will definitely come back to him for lessons.

They have a club house and restaurant that separates the front and back courses. If you choose to not walk and carry clubs, they will rent a golf cart to navigate from one hole to the next. I stopped in for lunch this past week and enjoyed watching the golfers both good and bad tee off to the first hole. I was surprised at how many golfers sank their first ball into the small water hole. In the front of the building there is a putting area to do a little practicing before the main event. Parking is also easily available and the grounds are kept nicely for those who are visiting.
