My wife was a patient of Dr. Kay for a few years and she was happy with the care she got. When I first started going to Dr. Kay I was happy as well. My opinion changed after Dr. Kay filled two cavities in October of last year. After the procedure I had bad pain and wasn't able to close my top teeth to my bottom teeth. I went back and Dr. Kay prescribed me a solution for sensitivity. I went back again and he re-did one filling but not the other. I went back again and he put a solution on my teeth. I went back again and he re-did the other filling. He still got it wrong. After five visits over three months, I left Dr. Kay and went to Dr. Drinkwater in O.V. He was able to fix the problem first try. Dr. Kay's office kept telling me it would be hard to squeeze me in because they were busy before Christmas. I wasn't able to eat anything comfortably from October 2023 to Feb 2024. Had the office made fixing the problem a priority and Dr. Kay taken me seriously when I said I was in pain (not sensitivity), it would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, they did not and they never apologized for the pain and inconvenience. I hope others have a better experience than me and I wish Dr. Kay and the staff all the best. But my wife and I won't be going back to Dr. Pain. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Kay's for five years, ever since we moved to Tucson. Unfortunately, I have horrible teeth and prior to moving here, had several implants done. Unfortunately, my lower right implant/bridge consisting of three teeth and two implants sheared off the titanium screws holding the implants in. These were done back East, not by Dr. Kay. Dr. Kay was out of town when this happened so I scheduled an emergency appointment with another dentist who took one look and said he had never seen anything like it in 25 years of dentistry, didn't have a clue how to get the remainder of the screw out of the implant and sent me on my way, worried to death that these teeth were irrecoverable and I would face lower dentures as the only cure. Dr. Kay returned, saw me immediately and very casually said "no problem, let me order the necessary parts and it will be fixed". Needless to say, he was good to his word. Not sure how he did it, but it was painless and he saved my mouth. Dr. Kay has also done three new implants for me and he is absolutely fanatical about doing them correctly. Best dentist I've been to in 70 years of life and would recommend him to anyone needing a caring, skilled and good humored dentist. God bless him and his abilities! read more

Very incompetent dentist, Kay Sophan can bearly speak understandable English, gave me 3 shots still made me cry when he did the fillings, meanwhile my face was so numb. Their billing office is the most horrible group of people I ever dealt with. They were very sneaky, they insist to charge me 20% prior to the deductable and then add deductable back to the total amount, I ended up paying much more than I should. When I tried to tell them this is not the correct way to do so, they refused refund until everything finalize in their system. I talked to my insurance company, the rep heard the story and can not believe what kay Dental did, he said how to calculate deductable should be universal standard, what they are doing are completely wrong and trying to put patients money in their own pocket. When I finally got my refund, they were being hostile, I made complaints about them to my insurance company, a dental office like this is a complete shame. If you are looking for a dentist and staff who are kind, caring, truthful, helpful and skilled then you need to visit Kay Dental in Marana. I recently had two porcelain crowns put on my two front teeth by Dr. Kay because each tooth had cracks in them (Never eat almonds with your two front teeth!!). He ordered three sets of crowns to make sure I would have a perfect color match and I would leave his office with a set of natural looking crowns. Last week, I left his office with a huge smile on my face and two beautiful natural looking crowns on my two front teeth! Dr. Kay and his staff saved my sanity and restored my beautiful smile! Dr. Kay and his staff truly care about their patients teeth and their well-being. Now, to the real story behind the crowns....I was having a long wait with getting an answer from the staff at Kay Dental regarding my insurance approval for replacing my two front teeth with crowns due to the cracks. So, I took it upon myself to find a different dentist because I wanted to get the work done before any further damage happened to my teeth. The dentist came recommended from another dentist who didn't my insurance. On July 12, I had an appointment with said dentist to prep my two front teeth for crowns. I have a natural small space between my two front teeth and told the dentist and her assistant I wanted to keep it since "I was born this way." The first set of crowns came back without a space so that visit was a no-go. The second visit the crowns were bulky and made my lip stick out and the color match was really off plus they were completely opaque and looked really fake. I left with another set of temporary crowns on my two front teeth. The third visit the crowns were too yellow and this time they had the owner of the lab come into their office to do a custom color match. Again, I left with another set of temporary crowns on my two front teeth. The fourth visit the crowns were not again too white even after a custom match by the lab owner. Another set of temporary crowns were put on my teeth. I expressed how unhappy I was that they continued to use the same lab and I felt the lab owner had done his best but was not able to deliver a quality set of crowns with translucency in them to look more like natural teeth. I told the dental assistant I felt it best that I return to my previous dentist to resolve this issue. I left their office almost in tears (September 11) because again all I had on my two front teeth were temporary crowns after two months from the initial prep of my teeth. I received a call the next day from the dental office that they were going to finally use a different lab in California and I would be required to pay an additional cost of $125/crown. And, they also had the Tucson lab alter the color on the set of crowns I tried on September 11. I told the office receptionist I was not going to pay any more money for crowns because I felt they should have used this California lab after the second visit. After much urging from the office, I decided to act in good faith and make a fifth visit on September 20 to see each new set of crowns. At the fifth visit, the fourth set of crown that had been color tweaked were still not a good match for my front teeth. But, the crowns from the California lab looked so much better and had a bit of translucency to them. I told the dentist I did like them but felt I should not have to pay any more money for them above my co-insurance. I left their office with temporary crowns on my two front teeth and no refund of any monies that I had already paid. I have been a patient of Dr. Kay for 13 years and he didn't have to take on my situation but he did with grace, kindness and a positive attitude. For that, I will remain a loyal patient of Kay Dental as long as I live in Tucson. read more

I'm thankful I went with my instincts and didn't write a review till my second visit to this place. Let me start by saying the only reason this place gets a 3-star review instead of a 5-star review is because of the front desk worker. Dr. Kay himself is wonderful and extremely informative, his dental assistant's are also great! Unfortunately, the older blonde lady at the front desk is rude and extremely short. When I arrived I greeted her with a hello and she gave me a look as if I just ruined her morning by showing up. Then when I was paying over $150 for them to re-cement a crown (that took less than 20 minutes) she acted like she had better things to do then accept my hard earned money. Since I had my crown placed while I was attending college 400 miles away my other dentist wanted to follow up with their office and see if there was something wrong with the job they performed. When I asked the front desk lady at Kay Dental if she could please give them a call she rolled her eyes and asked why she needed to do that. When I explained why they wanted her to call she began to be argumentative and say "I don't see the point". In the past I have referred several of my friends and family to this doctor since they are in a great location in our neighborhood, that will never happen again. I would suggest you have your dental assistants educate your front desk employee on how to treat people. read more

THE BEST DENTAL EXPERIENCE EVER! You will not find a kinder, more caring team. Dr. Kay is superb in every way and his assistants are tops! I had a lot of work to be done and was nervous to say the least. In all my visits, I never waited more than five minutes in the lobby, which by the way is loaded with wonderful books on any topic you can think of! I was always informed on everything, step by step. My comfort and well being was always first to them through each procedure. Dr. Kay and his great assistants always made certain of my comfort and all work was done gently with much care and it was done efficiently. May I add, I found this facility to be clean and sanitary in every way. To date, all the work is completed and I couldn't be happier!! They saved MY teeth!!! This is the best dental office I have been to in my life. I do not say that lightly, as I am 53 years old and this is the first review of any place, person or thing that I have ever written. I feel Dr. Kay and his staff deserve it. I have been going to see Dr. Kay since he opened in Continental Ranch over 10 years ago. At first I went because of convenience, because I used to live in Continental Ranch, now I go for the thorough, complete, professional dentistry that I receive in his office. I now live 40 minutes from their office, I still go there, and intend to continue seeing Dr. Kay for all my dentistry needs. Dr. Kay is compassionate, friendly and above all does impeccable work. I am comfortable going there, and Dr. Kay is always adept at relieving and mitigating any pain or anxiety that I may experience during a dental procedure. I have had extensive work done by Dr. Kay, and I can tell you I have always been extremely satisfied. I have had fillings, crowns, cosmetic dentistry, and Dr. Kay even addressed my issue of teeth grinding at night. His dental assistants are extremely knowledgeable and skilled. His front office staff, Susan and Susie, are organized, efficient, and friendly. They are always quick to ask about my family, and have always been accessible when an emergency arose, and quick to understand when I needed to get seen in a pinch. Dr. Kay's wife will sometimes make an appearance to help around the office, and she is just as affable, kind, and considerate as the rest of the Kay Dental group!
