I then contacted Neighborhood Vision Center around 6:30 a.m., and they responded immediately to my text. She was able to see Dr. Kent Kneip at 7 a.m. Dr. Kent Kneip and the receptionist were incredibly helpful and kind. He examined her eye very carefully and explained everything thoroughly. He truly took great care of my daughter. We need more doctor like Dr.Kent in America. They genuinely saved my day--I was very worried about her eye last night since we are new to contact lenses. As I was checking in, an unfriendly front office staff member asked whether I wanted the $39 retinal scan with my eye exam. I did want the scan, but my insurance copay was supposed to be $20, or at least that's what it said in my paperwork. She didn't offer any explanation, didn't offer to call my insurance, or even check with the doctor. She coldly stared at me and waited for my response. I decided I would find another doctor. There was no recovery attempt at all. I see in the Yelp reviews that I am not the only one who feels they weren't treated with respect by the front office staff. I want to update my review. Although I wasn't treated with respect, the information that Eye Concepts received from my insurance company did specify that I could be charged $39. This is in contrast to what my employer states ($20 copay). It wasn't Eye Concepts fault, rather an issue I need to take up with my employer.

I also enjoy the professionalism of Dr. Lam and all her staff. Not to mention, she's a gorgeous, intelligent and personable woman to chat with while you're getting your vision checked on. I learned a lot about my eyes that day and my options for when I decide to get Lasik done soon. I liked that her office also carries some of the luxury eyewear brands I enjoy wearing, but not overwhelming with too many options. They run pretty efficiently (from our family visits) and for my annual eye exam, I was done in about 30 mins. Dilation can still be done but with my busy schedule, I opt for the Optomap imaging and pay a bit more (~$25) as getting dilated & dealing with it all day is no longer doable. We needed to get some prescription sports sunglasses for the runner in the family. They carried a few of the Prescription Oakley of interest so it was good to go in and physically try them on (unlike online). To be clear, they were not cheap, but we reviewed all the options (tint color, reflection, etc...) and I have to admit, they look pretty sweet!!

He was professional and my two girls did not seem to bother him as they messed around while I was being examined. He mentioned that he had 4 kids and he knew all about the craziness. After our exams we went into another room where I could speak to someone about my contact lenses and prices with my insurance. I wish I could remember the woman's name as she was super sweet. Anyway, I got all the information I needed and then we went into the eye glasses area where we could try on glasses and discuss prices with another women. No one was ever pushy with purchasing but rather gave me the information needed to make my decision. We decided on glasses for the both of us as well as contacts for me because it made sense with my insurance and went up to pay. Everyone we encountered was super nice and made us comfortable. I'm scheduling an appointment for my youngest just to check her eyes and it's covered by insurance. It's never to early to check them as I've learned with my oldest.
