I made the mistake of coming back... I had not been to this eye doctor in a few years but could not remember why until I scheduled something with him again this year. Then I was reminded he's delusional. First, they ask you if you want to dilate or do their picture thing but if you don't pick the picture the doctor makes it very apparent he isn't happy about it. YES I CAN AFFORD IT, but I am choosing to dilate. Why give the option when there is clearly a right answer. Second, I realized very quickly that when he asks if I have any questions... he really meant to say he doesn't want to be asked questions. Desk ladies don't look like they want to be there either. If I am paying to be seen by a doctor I would expect my designated time frame. Not to be handed off to the assistants because the doctor acts like my paid for appointment is inconvenient. I understand offices run behind, but that doesn't mean my appointment should suffer. read more

Highly recommended! This eye center was all around fantastic from the friendly staff to the very patient optician I dealt with. I'm excited to have found this place! When I first walked into Sonoran Desert Eye Center I was greeted by a friendly staff member who was smiling and happy. She handed me a clipboard with a bunch of forms to fill out, which I completed and handed to a different lady at the front desk who was also super friendly. Shortly after that I was greeted by Dr. Quaranta, who was extremely nice. Dr. Quaranta took me to one of the exam room and performed a VERY thorough exam snd I felt his equipment was modern and it almost felt new. You know how sometimes when you go to the eye doctor and they try the different lenses and it's hard to pick one? Not here, there was a clear difference between the lenses and I feel confident he got the prescription right. He was also super knowledgeable and explained everything. I like doctors who will take the time to explain things. Dr. Quaranta's assistant was also super awesome. She also took the time to explain everything to me and pointed different parts of the eye. I learned that the optic nerve is composed of a disc and a cup, so now I'll be able to win trivia night! The staff was definitely doing their part to stop the spread of covid 19 including wiping everything down, sanitizing equipment and wearing masks. Plus they had the best smelling hand sanitizer ever. The optician Katie was so patient with me while I tried on like 100 different pairs of glasses and we wound up finding a pair that I liked that wasn't too badly priced. Can't wait for them to come in! She was super knowledgeable and wasn't afraid to share her opinion, which I really liked. So happy I found this place on Yelp! read more

Extremely unprofessional service & negative assumptions made by the office staff.... When visiting for my eye care appointment, I was continuously overlooked by staff, left waiting while they eagerly assisted other patients with their needs. When assistance was requested,I was literaly asked to step aside, while service was once again provided to other individuals who arrived after me. Once I was in the exam room, the Dr. was initially nice, however he began to tell me about concerning pressure in my eyes and I would need medical attention. The Dr. also stated my medical insurance would take care of any procedure needed. The Dr. emphasized 'medical' insurance as to imply that I had none. When discussing contacts, the Dr., recommended the 'affordable,' ones, once again implying I couldn't afford the same brand of contacts I was prescribed & ordered last year. I ordered the contacts I was comfortable with, received a call from the center stating my order was ready for pick up. Two days later I arrive to pick up my contacts only to be left waiting over 30, minutes, while the entire office staff assisted others, and when done would shuffle around looking for my order. After all the shuffling, office staff tried to give me one box of contacts. I have two different prescriptions, so one box would not work. I was advised it would take two more days to receive the other box of contacts. I was pretty upset by this time and advised the office staff to cancel my order. I have experienced bad customer service, however this is one that left me in disbelief. read more

I've been wearing contacts for about 25 years and have been to many different doctors. About 5 years ago I switched to Dr. Quaranta. This was the best decision! My contacts had been bothering me a lot and I had even been getting minor headaches from wearing them too long. Dr. Quaranta took the time to explain to me what I needed to do and found the perfect contacts for me. I immediately noticed the difference. I could see better, my eyes didn't bother me anymore and my headaches got better. I've never had an optometrist be willing to spend so much time with me making sure I was healthy and happy. I just recently had my annual eye exam again and everything went great as usual. They even had a newer machine that took pictures of my eyes (so I didn't have to get them dilated). Dr. Quaranta and his wonderful staff took the time to explain the pictures to me and answer my questions. I really don't like to be negative but thought I would like to express my experiences. My appointment was on Jan. 7, 2019 at Sonoran. I had my eye exam and ordered a pair of glasses through my insurance. I'm not happy with my experience! I'm currently in the process of a new exam and glasses from Costco. I would never do business with Sonoran again! I should have informed Sonoran about my negative experience but I am so exhausted with Optometrists who don't know their craft. Two years ago I tried Visionworks. After three attempts they got it right. This weekend Costco will be on their second attempt. I don't care if the staff is friendly and the office is clean, I just want glasses that are done correctly the first time! read more

I don't typically review medical professionals, but we just took our family of six to see Dr Kyle Stott, and I couldn't pass on the opportunity to rave about our experience. This office is top notch from start to finish. Scheduling was easy, and they were able to accommodate our crazy schedule. Clean office. Friendly staff. Dr Stott was more than amazing. He was patient, kind, educated, made our children feel important and comfortable with the process and examination. The day I arrived,12/30/15, the office staff was very busy with inventory and year end customers. My husband just told me to go get my eyes checked before our insurance benefits expired, so I did. I had been debating getting progression lenses, but never really looked into them before. I also had a very bad headache, so that didn't help things. While I waited for my appointment, I browsed around, but wasn't impressed with the selection. My favorite brand, Tiffany, wasn't there, so I wasn't sure I was going to be making any purchases - but I wanted to get my eyes checked and my prescription regardless. The eye exam went fine - the doctor was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable - no complaints, I actually liked him. He said he wanted to dilate my eyes, and I agreed. (I'm not sure if they offer Optomap vs dilation. My mother told me about this after I left. Better technology. No side effects. Either way, it wasn't offered and the dilation my headache 10x worse.) But before they dilated my eyes, they wanted me to go ahead and pick out my glasses and get them ordered. And like I said, I wasn't certain I would be buying anything there, plus there was also some confusion on my part as to my insurance benefits, so that took some time to understand. Regardless, I wanted to get some priced out, so I picked out a pair of Coach frames, and sat down with a young girl to go over everything. She didn't seem very knowledgeable and I was more confused at the end of the conversation that at the beginning, and my headache was getting worse, and I just found out glasses would cost be about $300-400. So I'm just a little overwhelmed. At this point the doctor comes back out to check on the status of my dilation, but we hadn't even started. So we stop all discussions and put the drops in my eyes. And I wait to be called back. Because of the delay of everything he had seen two other people, and their eyes dilated before mine did, so I had to wait for him to finish their exams, which was about 30 minutes longer. After I was called back in to the exam room, I asked the assistant if it would be ok for me to just get my prescription and not buy frames today. I told her I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy them there, as I had just purchased a Costco membership and wanted to go look at their stock, and ultimately wanted Tiffany frames. She said that would be ok. But not to tell the doctor. According to her, he gets "butt hurt" when people say they want to go to Costco or 1-800-CONTACTS. I say to her the customer should be able to go where ever they want to buy frames or lenses, especially if it means they can save money. She agreed. The doctor came in, finished the exam, and we acted like nothing was said. I went out, told the checkout lady I just wanted my prescription and left. By this point, my head was absolutely pounding and I just wanted out of there. So, my recommendations: First, a patient shouldn't have to "keep quiet" around the doctor so he doesn't get "butt hurt" if they choose to purchase frames or lenses elsewhere. Second, the phrase "butt hurt" shouldn't even be used in a professional office, especially to a new patient. read more

I stopped by today for a simple eyeglass repair and was shocked by the lack of Covid precautions. Masks are not required, customers trying on glasses and putting them back on the shelves. This is eye care? I'm never going back and recommend if you value your health stay away So to further explain. People were not wearing masks, including the office manager and some other staff members. She also was adjusting my glasses with no mask. How is this considered safe? It also contradicts their own website. Two customers in office trying on glasses were replacing them in the display case. One customers child was eating pretzels and handled the glasses and put them back. How was this taking precaution? Manager claimed glasses were cleaned, how did she know which ones had been handled? She claimed everything is better now and people can do what they want. The latest information from AZ Public Health says otherwise. I expect better judgement from my health professionals. Yes, I got angry and told unmasked patient she should be ashamed. Hair and nail salons and fast food establishments are taking more precautions. So in conclusion if you are okay with no masks, no social distancing and allowing handled frames that may or may not have been cleaned to go on your face, then go here. read more

I drive over 50 miles roundtrip to see Dr. Quaranta. He has been my optometrist for more than 10 years. Dr. Quaranta exemplifies courtesy, kindness, and professionalism with every patient. He speaks fluent Spanish for those who feel more comfortable with that language. I have an unusual eye disease and am also a diabetic, and therefore a prime candidate for glaucoma. When my previous doctor gave up on giving me 20/20 vision, this doctor went far above all expectations in fitting my contact lenses. Dr. Quaranta and his staff do an outstanding job of making sure you feel like an important individual, unlike larger practices and chains. I've been a patient of Dr. Quaranta's for about two and a half years now. During my first exam with him, I purchased a great pair of plastic frames. Fast forward to 2014, and my beloved glasses broke in half (literally, right in the middle of the nose piece) when I was cleaning the lenses. I realize my glasses are a couple years old, so the fact that time caught up with them did not surprise me, but I was definitely bummed that I could no longer wear my favorite frames with out some type of major repair. I decided to stop by office to see if my frames could be saved. I was immediately greeted by a friendly receptionist who asked how she would help me and I told her I wanted to see if my frames could be repaired. Before I could even give my name, optician Christy greeted me by name. She pulled up my file, let me know that the warranty on the glasses has expired but said she would see what she could do for me. I expected her to give me a quote on repairing the frames, but instead, she gave me a great price on replacement frames. When I came back in a week later to pick up the new pair of frames, Dr. Quaranta was at the desk, also immediately greeted me by name and even asked about things I told him almost a year ago during my last exam with him. Aside from the wide selection designer frames and outstandingly affordable service, no other place makes me feel so pleasantly welcomed and valuable as a patient. The lovely staff and secretaries are attentively obliging and benevolently supportive. Most importantly, for about eight years now, Doctor Quaranta has been taking marvelous care of my eyes with spectacular improvements of their health since, no other doctor was able to make me feel this pleased with my vision, and he is always available to investigate any of my concerns. He actually helped me stabilize my vision within the first couple of years and completely got rid of the headaches brought by the visual inconsistency, and now I am able to wear contact lenses too! The office has invested in a new device which allows for a different look into the eye. Kaeli was a good coach as I learned how to let it help me. Dr Quaranta explained what was uncovered (a hole in my retina), the implications and communicated a sense of urgency compassionately. I stopped in with an emergency - my one year old had broken the side off of my glasses, with a vengeance! This wasn't a clean break; it was ugly. The place I'd bought them (which WASN'T Sonoran Desert Eye Center) had told me they were non repairable. And they were pretty blunt about it. But when I arrived at Sonoran Desert Eye Center, Mya gave me a broad smile and was happy and quick to help! She quickly realized I had a busy schedule and she offered to work on the glasses (replacing the temple piece with another one*) while I was doing other things. I took her up on the offer and after a short while, she texted me that she'd been able to repair the glasses. Mya is just an absolutely amazing lady and I have to say I'll be returning for all of my future eyeglass needs. All the staff I saw and interacted with were super nice and friendly. I really cannot recommend them enough! * When Mya mentioned she'd be using another temple piece on my glasses, I joked that I'd PREFER it not to be pink or purple. She IMMEDIATELY came back saying she'd planned on using a nice fuchsia color! :) I love when people have a good sense of humor! read more

I had an EXTREMELY horrible experience at Perfect Focus Eyecare and came here in hopes they would be able to fix it somewhat and to my amazement he was able to fix it COMPLETELY! I was so happy to be able to see out of my glasses again and he didn't even give me a problem for not purchasing my glasses from him. Also, emailing me on my birthday with some sob story about the economy in a sorry attempt for me to change my reviews listed on multiple websites is just beyond unprofessional. I wish there was a way to give different stars for the different services this place offers. Dr Q & his exam is 5 stars all the way. Purchasing glasses and the customer service, well.... it depends. It has been anywhere from a 1 to a 3. I fly to AZ several times a year, but I always make sure to plan a trip around needing my eye exam. Dr Q is the first doctor to give me a thorough exam and explain whats going on in my eyes in very layman terms. But most importantly, Dr Q is the first doctor to give me an eye exam that didn't require me to be physically restrained. I hate eye exams like others hate root canals. I usually have to be held down to have an exam. With Dr Q, he is so patient and friendly that I can make it through the exam. He can even numb & dilate my eyes ( a first) and take pictures of the inside. I marvel at this every time. Very low stars for the experience of buying glasses. His staff is helpful and he has a great selection. They always help me pick great frames, but... with the last trip I stressed to the woman that I wanted the "plastic" lenses. I ended up with polycarbon, which drives me bonkers (like looking at a 3D poster, without the glasses). Because I travel to see Dr Q, I asked how it would all work if I had any issues with the glasses. They assured me that it wasn't an issue and that I am not the only "out of town" patient. Anyways, pick up my glasses the last day of my trip and ... no like. I called when I got home and she told me to give it a week, as she was sure I would get used to it. A week later and 7 days of a headache, I called back. Was told "what do you want me to do about it". I was so shocked I hung up. I have learned to deal with these crappy lenses. Went back the following year for Dr Q. Again great. This year.... prescription sunglasses. I was being decisively indecisive, so I bought 2 pair. They guy that helped me wrote them up for Polycarbon lenses. I told him my issue and he apologized, and re-wrote the order with plastic. I got a call about a week later that my glasses were ready. Take off work, drive there... and only 1 pair are ready. I ask why aren't they both ready? Why call me for 1 pair? I really hate making multiple trips etc... The staff apologizes and explains that there is a problem with the lenses for my 2nd pair. They say they have re-ordered the lenses, but then a few minutes later they say they will put a rush on the order. Which is it? Anyways... my glasses will be ready in a week. Strange, no rush = 1 week, so why won't they be ready sooner? no response. So a week goes by, no call. I call a few days later and they can't find my glasses without putting me on hold for 5 mins. They finally located and I went to pick them up. While the experience of buying & picking up the glasses is frustrating, once again I end up with the best frames! His staff truly knows their stuff, and are honest about how the glasses look. Its kind of fun too.... they ask all sorts of questions about how you want to "look", or what you want your glasses to "say". I always love the exam, and I always love the glasses.... I just wish the in-between was a great as the start & finish. Given all this...I will still recommend Dr Q, and I will still get my exam & glasses there. I just know that purchasing the glasses will have a few hiccups. read more

Sonoran Desert Eye is a very friendly place to get an eye exam and custom, brand name glasses. The staff is jovial and beyond helpful when it comes to all phases of the process. I have keratoconus and the RGP contact lenses I had from another doctor were uncomfortable, I had vision issues and they would either pop out or displace at the most inopportune times. I read about scleral lenses for keratoconus and found Dr. Quaranta on the Internet. He and his staff are so professional and friendly and were very patient with my stubborn eyes. End result is very comfortable scleral contacts that have eliminated my vision and other problems I had with RGP. Thank you! read more

He actually found an issue with my retina that I am pretty sure others would have missed. Great Eye Care. Had some cloudiness in my right eye. Dr. Q quickly diagnosed shingles, prescribed 4 meds. He is very conscientious and reassuring at the same time. 4 visits this week and I am much improved. Going to Cottonwood tomorrow- they called to st an appointment for me. So I've gone to the same eye Dr. for the last 14 years. However, due to insurance change, I had to find a new Eye Dr (boo!). Because of your awesome Yelp reviews I decided to go to Sonoran Desert Eye Center. They were one of the few "reputable" offices that took my new insurance. BIG MISTAKE. 1. I took my 9 year old the very first day of spring break to ensure she had her new glasses with a few days to adjust to the new Rx. before going back to school because they had the Arizona state testing to do upon return. Very important right? Well, we were told 7-10 business days. It took 25 days! They were NOT done in time for the state testing. I called to follow up on them several times. The last time calling (the 25th day) I'd had it & was going to speak with the manager & hung up on them to just go into the office. 5 minutes later, they call & say "oh we do have them, they were in the wrong box". Who knows how long they had been sitting in the wrong box. 2. I go back for my exam. In getting to know the Dr. we had something in common, our kiddos are at UofA, both in their junior year. I really did like the new Dr...until he made a comment about me being able to "look on the bright side if N. Korea bombs S. Korea while my daughter is there on the UofA study abroad program this fall. Why? Because then I won't have to worry about tuition" Meaning, she won't return back home from there if the bombing happens. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD SAY THAT?! LET ALONE A PROFESSIONAL DR! I wanted to walk out right then & there after giving him a piece of my mind! 3. I went to the office 3 separate times (when I took my daughter, when we picked up her glasses & when I had my exam). NOT once did the ladies there ask if I needed help with their frame selection. Not even after my actual exam & looking at the frames (which they really didn't have a great selection of highter end brands I was looking for). I actually had to waive one of them down while they were enjoying hanging out in the back office to pay my co-pay so that I could leave. 4. I decide to go elsewhere to purchase glasses because let's face it, I just didn't want to go back. Well, come to find out this office billed my insurance as a "contact lens fitting" when I had told them 3 times I was using my insurance towards glasses. I PAID for the "contact lens fitting" out of pocket. Not only did they get payment from me, they also billed my insurance to get payment from them. So now, I wait yet again to have it reversed. I won't hold my breath. I don't know if it was just me but I refuse to go back to Sonoran. Hopefully you all have a better experience than me. read more

I just moved to Chandler and had to find a new eye doctor. Sonoran Desert Eye Center had good reviews so I decided to go with them. The office is very modern and clean. The staff is friendly and worked with me to get the best price on my glasses and contacts. There was a good selection of glasses. I found a pair I liked but not in the color I wanted so they checked online to see if the glasses came in the color I wanted. They found the exact pair I wanted, so they ordered them for me. Worst doctor visit I've ever experienced. Waited 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment to be seen by the doctor. When he finally showed up, he didn't even apologize for the wait and instead started yelling at his staff right in front of me. Very awkward and unprofessional. I was already running late because of this but then he talked my ear off for about 10 more minutes and I didn't know how to politely tell him that I'm already late to get back to work. Sonoran Eye Center is a quality place. The staff are great, caring and helpful. I have glaucoma and Dr. Quaranta is excellent with explaining everything to me, this man actually cares about my sight and helping me keep my vision as long as possible. Dr. Quaranta is the best with new technology, medications and exams, even with my bad eyes he is able to get my vision dialed in at 20/20 and be able to read close up.
