Dr. Karen Johnson is a competent and caring Optometrist as I saw her for a visit two years ago. On my second visit today, I didn't make it past the front desk. As I was checking in, an unfriendly front office staff member asked whether I wanted the $39 retinal scan with my eye exam. I did want the scan, but my insurance copay was supposed to be $20, or at least that's what it said in my paperwork. She didn't offer any explanation, didn't offer to call my insurance, or even check with the doctor. She coldly stared at me and waited for my response. I decided I would find another doctor. There was no recovery attempt at all. I see in the Yelp reviews that I am not the only one who feels they weren't treated with respect by the front office staff. I want to update my review. Although I wasn't treated with respect, the information that Eye Concepts received from my insurance company did specify that I could be charged $39. This is in contrast to what my employer states ($20 copay). It wasn't Eye Concepts fault, rather an issue I need to take up with my employer. read more

I fell asleep in them and they were all bent out of shape. I showed up at 530pm and just walked in. They had them adjusted and perfect in 20 minutes. read more

We've been going to this vision center for years now. Dr. Johnson is a good doc who gets you in and out of her office. I can appreciate not having to spend a ton of time with her for the exam. However the lady at the front desk (not the younger lady) is always extremely short, has a tone with an attitude, and seems miserable. When you book an appointment she seems annoyed and when you pick up your glasses she just has zero urgency or personality. My entire family (4 of us) have been loyal patients for the last 5 years. We have loved our experience with the eye doc, she's amazing. Her receptionist however is ALWAYS HORRIBLE!!! She ALWAYS has a bad attitude and speaks to us in a very belittling / condescending tone. Every time I speak to her by phone to order contacts she acts wildly inconvenienced. Today I was scheduled to be seen on a medical visit because I'm having an issue with my vision in my left eye. I called yesterday afternoon to book the appointment, she didn't have anything same but offered me an end of day visit for the following day. I do hair, so I MOVED my ENTIRE life around to be at this appointment. 1 kid is missing soccer practice today for me to be here and my husband is missing a work meeting to take our other child to a doctor appointment for a sports physical in my place. Upon arrival to my 4 pm appointment the front desk person asks me for my medical card, since a medical exam is not covered by VSP. I have great medical insurance but apparently they're "out of network" So... at what point was this person going to ask me for my medical coverage to let me know I'm either in or out of network?! She knew at some point between yesterday and today that they didn't have my medical on file and that my eye coverage didn't include medical. But never once made a point to pick up the phone and call me?!!! Like I said I moved my whole life around today for this!!! My kids and my husband are also equally impacted. Now it's the end of the day, too late to be seen anywhere else! There was no empathy or accountability from this lady for her complete oversight. I'm to blame apparently... the doctor didn't even bother to come out to address the issue or follow up call me either. I suppose she's okay with patients repeatedly being treated poorly by her staff and losing 4 loyal, long time patients... disgusting... If you want to matter to your provider and be treated fairly and respected then this isn't the office for you. Had script and glasses made here. I cant see with these glasses; there is a dark shadow under every letter and the lenses don't focus together. I returned the next week and the doctor reviewed the order, saying it was really just my eyes and not the glasses that were the issue. These are just computer glasses and my eye sight isn't even that bad! I've been trying to adjust to the shadow, trying to read with just one eye or the other. The lenses seem to have smudges but are spotlessly polished clean. Theres something wrong with these glasses and or the script, and honestly, I would never return here. NOT a good experience... If you want the right prescription for your glasses, go SOMEWHERE ELSE.... Had my eye exam done there, went to America's Best for my glasses (way better prices) ... When I went to pick them up and tried them on I noticed something was off, my right eye seemed not as sharp as the left eye looking through the glasses. I voiced my concern with the person helping me, and they checked the strength, to make sure it matched the prescription I had brought in from Eye Concepts vision center. Sure enough it did. So what was wrong? They were nice enough to do an eye exam FREE to see what the problem was. Turns out the strength for the right eye was NOT correct. They also agreed to send out the glasses and have the right lens changed to the correct strength..... AGAIN AT NO CHARGE.... So now back to Eye Concepts to voice my concerns. Talked to the receptionist, explained the situation, she went to get the manager. After sitting and talking with him, the bottom line was NO REFUND for an eye exam, even though it was wrong. He also said that they would have done the exam again for free and replaced the lens, HOWEVER, WHY would I want them to retest my eyes when they got it wrong in the first place. Would YOU trust them?????? Bottom line, a big company like AMERICA'S BEST will go above and beyond for their customers, and a little place like Eye Concepts wouldn't refund $45......... lol America's Best 1505 East Warner Rd. for the win. read more

I didn't realize how amazing Dr. Simon and her team was until after I moved to a different state and switched to another optometrist. Dr. Simon's team goes above and beyond with telling you everything you'd expect including the experience and the pricing and rebates. I also never felt rushed or that it was too hectic because they schedule out their patients accordingly. So if you're looking for a calm, knowledgeable, friendly environment to get your eyes checked, this is the place to be. read more

The Person who fitted my with a pair of glasses was cordial. Can't say the same for the blond/gray hair lady at reception. She was not very welcoming. Zero greetings! We were looking for a good place to purchase and support our new glasses. I read all the 5-star reviews and thought this would be great and it was... until it wasn't. Picked out a sharp set of Oakley frames, ordered new lenses with all the coatings and the UV option to turn them into sunglasses when they are exposed to the sun. Picked them up and within a few days, they were slipping off my face. I went back in for adjustments 4 different times. Out of utter frustration I called and said you have to help me here I can't even cook dinner without them slipping off my face. I was told, nothing we can do!!!!!!!! Oakley doesn't make longer sides and if you want your NEW glasses replaced you can use your insurance or return what you purchased and pay an additional 50%+ in order to get glasses that fit correctly...??????? The PROFESSIONALS at Eye Concepts sold me those glasses and confirmed they would fit. They didn't... and now they want ME to pay for their mistake. Looking for a new eyeglasses place now. Not interested in doing business with professionals that will not stand behind their work. read more

I had a great experience back in February when I had my exam, fitted for glasses and contacts and spent 2K when it was all said and done. The individual that fitted me for my glasses was amazing and the reason I went back to order my contacts refill to find out that she is no longer with the company. The service she provided is the reason I came back to order my contacts. I walked in and was promptly welcomed. Dr. Simon was extremely prompt and efficient. My eyes didn't have to get dilated and there was no need for air puffs in the eyes. With the newer technology, I was provided with the same information that the older technology used to provide. Dr. Simon explained my options. I will give this vision center one star, specifically because everyone I have encountered there was lovely and very pleasant in person. That said, I have had a very rough experience with this business and will not be a return patient. I went for a routine vision checkup, glasses and contacts. I left with my glasses prescription and was told my trial contacts would be available soon. I received a call alerting me they had arrived during work hours so I sent my partner to retrieve them. He was out the door and halfway to the car with the trials in hand when someone chased him down and made him return them, telling him that I must put them on for the doctor and be observed wearing them for any issues. My work schedule is busy so it was two weeks before I could get them. Got them on, in office and was observed wearing them. Excellent, I can now leave with my trials and prescription, having wasted the last two weeks and 15 minutes waiting to get them. It turns out, I did not particularly like the brand of contact that was selected for me in office. They were uncomfortable so when I went to order my new contacts via 1-800-contacts there were major issues. I'm happy to report the 1-800-contacts delivered stellar service. When contacted, this office would not give me permission to order contacts of my preferred brand, stating that I would be required to order new trials and be observed wearing them prior to being given permission to purchase contacts that actually work for me. While legally this is within their right as a business and I respect their right to operate their business in the manner they feel is best, the experience provided to me has been the literal worst experience I have had with my vision, glasses, and contacts. I will be going back to Val Vista Vision as they are actually willing to work with their patients to provide them a great experience and meet their needs as opposed to focusing exclusively on their policy. read more

My appointment began on time and I was done in a timely fashion. I was not able to find a petite-sized frame that I liked so I was not able to purchase glasses at this business. Scheduled an appt for Jan 7 and asked to get on the cancellation list and they got me in on Friday before New years holiday. So glad they got me in so quickly bc I have been feeling eye fatigue at work. Dr Simon was able to recommend a lenses protection against Blue light. My fiancé returned to this business after several years of being a faithful customer. She went in for an exam in early November because she was told she was due even though all she needed was new lenses for her glasses. After the exam she was told she needed a "tweak" to her prescription and was sold new "custom" frames. Over the course of a couple weeks my fiancée and her kids were sick off and on. Eventually, we picked up her new glasses which she was very excited about. Only to find that the new "tweaked" prescription was wrong, very wrong. She called the office and was told they had already ordered her replacement lenses in her old prescription and that they would have everything fixed in seven days after she brought back the frames and lenses we had picked up. She dropped them back off on 11/23. Today is 12/12 and we are being told that they are "hoping" the lab ships out her order this coming Wednesday. I am waiting for a call back from the office manger and will update my review after speaking with that person. read more

This place has been opened for less than a year so everything is new and the equipment is top notch. This was the first place I been to that has something newer to replace that machine that blows air in your eye. The Dr. was very nice and so was the guy in the lobby who does the sales and insurance stuff. I would give 5 stars but they did not fully understand my benefits and almost shorted me $175 worth of coverage. Thankfully the staff was able to call and figure it out. Love this office! You will love the interior decorating, it's modern, stylish, and chic all at the same time. This office has only been open for about a year. Dr. Karen Simon is so personable and she is top notch on prescriptions! I have been to many offices and she is hands down the best! Jared takes care of the office and is a licensed optician dispenser. He is very professional and I had no problems making an appointment. Both staff members understand a lot about VSP and EyeMed insurance since they are covered in those networks. Dr. Simon informed me that my prescription was so strong that I qualify for 6 times the allowance from my insurance because my glasses/contacts are medically necessary. She was able to get me a year supply of daily disposable contacts for astigmatism for nothing out of pocket! Typically my insurance allowance is $100. Save yourself the hassle, see Dr. Simon. My previous optometrist wasted 3 trips and after the third I asked for a refund but was given a mediocre prescription instead. I wish I has known about this office sooner. read more

The office was very clean and appealing and the office staff was very helpful. They also all wore masks and were conscientious about Covid. Dr Simon prescribed reading glasses but the first pair didn't work well. To be fair, Dr Simon did take quite a bit of time trying to find the issue and reordered a slightly different prescription. The second pair didn't work either, so now I'm stuck with a $324 pair of reading glasses I can't use and they won't remake them. read more

These 5 star reviews have to be bought or made up by employees and friends. 8/18/17 - Decided to give this place a try since my favorite eye center doesn't take my new insurance. Basically they got me in there saying they take our insurance but can't find us, after I do all the research, when they have access to more resources, they admit they see it but aren't contracted with our insurance AFTER my exam and contact fitting. The front office staff here makes you do the work and then when you ask them to check costs/insurances for contacts and procedures they act like it's something they've never been requested to do before. UPDATE 10/10/17- I've been wearing contacts for 15 years and am very used to the procedures. With a high astigmatism my contacts take over 6 weeks for trials just to come in. Originally my post had 2 stars and when the doctor wrote me about my review I gave 1 more because she was nice. Back down to 1 because after more than 6 weeks I called the office to check the status of my trials and they said they never ordered them..So I'm running out of contacts and they decide to wait 2 months and NEVER tell me they confirmed my prescription. Now I have to wait another 6-8 weeks for new contacts. This place is BEYOND incompetent!! Can't wait to go back to my old doctor when I change insurances. read more

My sister recommended I give them a call for my next eye appointment. She knows me. I had the best experience with Dr Karen Simon & her wonderful team. Booking my appointment online was easy & simple. I picked my date & time by seeing what was available as I was looking at my schedule. The front door was tricky to find. Pretty buildings but just know the front door & suite number doesn't face the parking spaces or road. Allow at least 10 mins to circle around the buildings. Once inside I was happily greeted by Ginger. She was on top of everything: online forms, benefits, & phones. They have a great selection of frames. The optician, Kelly was very professional & knowledgeable. She patiently helped me wittle down my selection of frames even though it was late. She allowed me to pick frames without imposing her own opinions. I'm so happy I listened to my wonderful sister! read more

I found this center on yelp. The receptionist who booked my appointment was polite. The Doctor was very knowledgeable and was excited to answer my questions. The price was reasonable. It is not the most expensive, and not the cheapest, but I feel I got a great exam, great customer service and would definitely recommend to all. My only complaint is that when I pulled into the parking lot, I did not initially see the building. I had to drive around a bit to find it. read more
