John is great find. We thought we needed a new panel installed (which costs about $2500 so it's good potential business). He came out the same day I called him and talked us out of replacing the electrical panel. The problem was something else but I bet 8 out 10 electricians would've gone with the flow and replaced the box. Instead, he did some diagnostics and pointed us in the right direction (a/c unit). We need a emergency job to fix one of the bad circuit. We called another electric company to came over on Friday to take a look and they charge us $99 bucks and refused to change the circuit but told us we need to change the whole panel and quoted the price for $5000. So, we went on yelp and found a John, we gave him a call on Saturday and he talked to my husband over the phone and gave him some valuable knowledge about the electric panel. He also willing to come over right away to replace the bad circuit. Boom! Done in 30 minutes. So impressive. Will keep John as our electrician from now on. read more

I have used John Watson a couple of times. The first time was a small minor job, but most recently he installed the wiring for my new Jacuzzi. I called and left a message on Sunday and he called me back Monday morning. He was over to my home the next day to assess what was needed and explain to me his approach. I gave him the date/time that the Jacuzzi was going to be delivered. He had everything in place and had Chris his assistant there at the house waiting for the delivery. Everything went perfectly! We called John on Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm because the power in our house keep going out. I did not expect a call back the same day, but by 4:15pm he returned our call (on a Sunday!) He listened, asked questions and had us send a picture of our circuit box and he quickly figured out the problem. He was able to explain the part we needed to replace and gave my husband directions on how he could do this himself. My husband followed his directions and the problem is solved!!!! John Watson is great! I was doing my own electrical repairs in my kitchen and messed everything up. I called John and he come over the same day to help me out of the snafu I created. Not only did he fix the problem he took the time to educate me about some wiring basics - which I much appreciated. John was the second electrician I called after the first one told me I needed to replace my entire fuse box, and that it would cost me $2,400 to do so. He talked to me about the issue I was having for about 10 minutes on the phone and was extremely helpful and informative. When I asked him if he could send someone out he asked where I was and he just happened to be only 10 minutes from my house. He came right over, looked at everything and knowing that someone had quoted me $2,400 to replace the fuse box then told me that all I needed was a main breaker replacement which would cost me roughly $300. Ok, I've used him before, the work was fine, projects were very small, and he is a friendly guy. But he consistently has issues with returning calls. He doesn't reply or takes forever to reply. VERY rarely do you hear right back. The Yelp statistic that says he replies in 1 day 100% of the time is incorrect...where did that come from? If you look at his negative reviews, this is the problem with all of them. You cannot plan ahead on important projects with him because of the erratic or nonexistent response times. When you ask to get put on his calendar for your larger project, you either don't hear from him at all or he responds with, "I can be there tomorrow." Whoa. Such extremes. It is the big flaw in his practice...his Achilles heel. I am going to look elsewhere now for my kitchen project - why he runs his business like this is puzzling and it is very unprofessional. Surely he knows that. It also feels insulting, like he might be cherrypicking or something. Whatever it is, it's out of control. read more

I'm surprised to see a bad review of this wonderful electrician. I think yelpers need to allow at least a little room for the human factor! He's helped me and my husband twice. Once over the phone free of charge and again yesterday when he installed three new light fixtures at what I thought was an excellent price. We're having him come back again soon to install a power outlet in the bedroom and remove an old ugly one that's up by the ceiling for some reason. I saw that one yelper suspects that all Johns good reviews are written by his friends, that's quite a conspiracy theory! A doctor who would see that the patient is okay and would send him home without expensive treatment and a large bill. John Watson is that guy. I had a strange problem and although I do a lot of work around the house myself, I couldn't figured it out. I called John (he was already highly recommended) and he, after listening to me, explained a couple of possible problems. had an electrical issue over the labor day weekend. One side of my master bedroom and part of my master bathroom lost electricity. Gave a call to two electricians (John Watson was one of them) on the Monday. John Called me back that evening (the other guy never bothered). Nice but Unexpected since it was still the holiday weekend. He did offered to walk me through the elimination process before he sends anyone out to fix it. This is great if the issue is simply "user errors". That's not the case with me. We coordinated and was able to get an appointment on Tuesday 9/6/11 at 9:30AM. His person showed up on time which is also a plus. I can't remember the person's name but extremely nice and friendly. As he was working, he chatted with me and explained the electrical layout and why things happened the way it did with my house. Got it fixed in an hour. Have not gotten the bill yet so not sure on the exact cost. I assume will be reasonable. read more
