I parked at the Hilton across the street and prepaid for 4.5 days and the rates were good. It's a quick 10 minute walk to the airport where you go through the parking structure to get to the terminal. TSA pre check was 10 minutes. On the weekend TSA is open at 6am. There's a play area for children. Dog relief area is also available. The women's restroom was clean. Very spacious for luggage to go in the stall if traveling alone. There's also a hook for your bag. I like that there's automated paper hand towels. Lots of food/drink options like Starbucks, Sambazon, Brodaed Express, Qdoba Mexican Eats, Jamba Juice, Taps Brewery, Market 949 (for souvenirs and snacks), and etc. There's a food court with seating near Terminals 14-22. Our flight was for Alaska (Terminal B) but they were in Terminal C since they were using Frontier's gate. Luckily you don't need to go through TSA again and can walk down the long hall to get to a different terminal. Highly recommend flying about of John Wayne Airport when you can! read more

Small and easy airport...this tB is connected to tA & tC. Just a handful of gate per terminal and along the way are places to eat, drink, shop and lounges. Clean & staff are nice. Parking is right across the street or at the end/beginning of tA for both long and short term. They even have valet parking right outside the entrance. read more

We flew in Thursday's night via Alaska for our cousin's wedding for the first time. Loved that is less stressed and traffic jams compared to LAX. Would recommend this airport if you have business and events in Westminster and Irvine since it's more direct and accessible to the freeway. This 3/5 review mainly for the Rental Cars access after deplane Alaska from PDX. There was no signs anywhere besides Ground Transportation and Baggage Claim. After we went downstairs and looked lost, 3 people included the information desk staff even agreed with us how the posted U-turn sign and Rental Car Sign for an opposite direction within 50 feet of each other were confused and unhelpful. After crossing the ground transportation on foot, we had to take the elevator down to the Rental Cars section. Thrifty Car Rental staff was so helpful and pleasant. We were in and out in no time. I never particularly selected specific car rental companies, yet I consistently found and enjoyed very affordable rate and quality service from them. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. The security staff at Terminal B were extremely rude and unprofessional. I stopped for less than a minute while waiting for my elderly mother, who was already walking toward the exit. Despite explaining the situation, the security officer immediately told me to leave and loop around without allowing even a brief moment for her to reach the curb. What made the situation even more frustrating was that there were no other vehicles waiting at the curb and no apparent traffic congestion. There was absolutely no flexibility or consideration shown for an elderly passenger who was actively making her way to the pickup area. I was treated as though I were causing a serious problem when I was simply trying to assist my elderly mother. The treatment felt unfair, unnecessarily harsh, and completely lacking in empathy or common courtesy. Airports should prioritize both safety and reasonable accommodations for travelers and their families. Unfortunately, my experience at this airport reflected neither. read more

This is a fine airport. Nice and small, so if I'm a touch late I don't have to worry about missing my flight. They have some good restaurants which is good. It's easy to get into the terminal. And because it is very small, I can navigate quite easily. One time, my flight was changed from one gate and terminal to another and I didn't have to go too far so that was helpful. I departed from this terminal from entering as a pedestrian. It was very easy to access the terminal and go straight to TSA. There was a small line, about 5 people in front of me at 6AM. The TSA were helpful and kind. I gave the wrong ticket at first at the TSA and they were like "wrong airport- its okay!" Little things like that remind me that we're all human. :) It was easy to opt out of screening and we got to our gate quickly. read more

I prefer John Wayne (SNA) airport over LAX every time I have the choice, close to 405/55 and not as crowd as LAX. I checked my bag and cleared TSA in 10 minutes top. Flying out of SNA is a preference I gladly pay a little more for. If I can avoid flying out of LAX, then all the better. My husband and I were flying out of Terminal B on Alaska so we arrived in time to make our flight. Once I was through security, I made my way around to the restroom and the food court. I was so excited that they opened a Brodard Express at the airport and it was in Terminal B! Yes, food at the airport is overpriced. Yes, I'm usually hungry even when I do have lounge access. Yes, I'll buy something just for a quick flight because they don't serve meals on airplanes unless you're flying over 7+ hours. This airport has my heart and now this terminal does as well. read more

This airport/terminal was very clean, quiet, and I was able to park and walk inside to meet them and I only had to pay $4, which was so awesome because most airport parking garages make you spend a crazy amount to park. How have I not known about flying into this airport instead of LAX? Recently flew here from Paine Field as Alaska expanded their regional flights. This airport is a smaller airport laid out in a simple rectangle. Getting out of the terminal was very easy with little to no lines. Rental cars were across the road on-site in the garage. Love not having to catch a shuttle to get my car. Coming back is a breeze. Easy to navigate to and easy to get to the terminal gate. There are a few restaurants available should you need to get good before your flight. The airport website lays out the options nicely. Use Yelp to help you decide where to grab food as the recent reviews are pretty accurate with regards to food quality, food options, and service level. If I had the choice to fly to the LA area, I'm flying in here instead of LAX. read more

This is one of my favorite airports ! The lines for checking in and security is always short , immediately after checking in you are usually right next to your gate. Great food options! I like to have healthy food options from a variety of restaurants and because the airport is not large your walk to different places is not far at all. The restrooms are always clean. I usually fly out this airport early in the morning so I have never walked in the restroom and it wasn't clean. This is huge because no one wants to be uncomfortable and disgusted. I do believe this airport can get more updated with the charging stations all of them require have the box (big part that goes in the wall) some airports I've notice would have it so you can charge with just the wire and have multiple locations in one terminal ... This airport the charging stations are behind the seats and if you're not sitting in that area - Tough luck.. need changing ASAP If you find a good flight and this airport is an option definitely recommend you choose , save time and fly in style ! read more

I love this airport! The "terminals" at SNA are all inter connected and easily flow from A to B to C. Terminal B is home to United Airlines and has the United Club. Restaurants are better than the usual fare (see my other reviews). The big downside is that this airport doesn't have as many power outlets and phone charging locations as some others (unless you are an airline club member). Access to B from parking or curbside (departure or arrivals) is great for any airport. Baggage claim is at the lower level and has a Starbucks for a caffeine fix after your arrival. Great handicapped access with a big area with wheelchair friendly curbs just outside. Overall a four star airport! With five stars only a few charging ports away... read more

If you don't know that smaller, regional, airports are the better way to fly than major hubs (if you can), then you must not fly. JWA is a nice little airport with oddball hours because of the NIMBYs that live off the end of the runway. We were flying out and check-in was quick, security was efficient (though you still need to take laptops out of our bags and take your shoes off), and there is the usual line-up of food/booze/magazine/snack vendors. Prices for these items tend to be too high, but they are too high everywhere. One of the nicest aspect is the access from the 55S and the access back to the 405N and 55N when leaving, with ramps that take you straight into and out of the airport, bypassing the surface streets. read more

I love John Wayne Airport, easy and convenient for in and out purposes. As for Terminal B, I take it for Alaska Air departures and arrivals. It's smack dab in the middle and the good news is, it's usually not very crowded. The bad news is, there really isn't much on this terminal. I've flown Southwest out of Terminal C and it's a mad rush. I'm sure it would be worse over at LAX. TSA lines here from my experience have been about 15 minutes long. So it's bearable. Lyft rides out to middle of Irvine runs about $10 but really, getting people to drop you off here is super easy. read more

Not feeling this terminal. It's very small even for John Wayne standards and there aren't any free standing bar areas near the gates. So, you really need to pay attention to your boarding times. The food options here are better than the other two Terminals, if Ruby's and Mickey D's is your jam. The one good thing here is there's plenty of space to sit and get some privacy before getting squeezed into that airplane for the next two hours. Basic airports needs, but lacking in some solid amenities. read more

Yes, this airport is a breath of fresh air. Easy arrival, fast check in and amazingly quick to move through TSA. If you end up waiting at one of the gates in Terminal B (Alaska, Delta...) you'll find it very clean with conveniently located restrooms. McDonalds, Starbucks, and a couple of small bars and other eateries are found here as well as one of those magazine-snack-souvenier shops. Definitely less frantic and easier to maneuver than LAX. read more

I'm not sure how or who decided that each terminal in John Wayne should have it's own Yelp page, but that's OK. I'll play along. What's to love about terminal B? Well, for starters, it's where Alaska Airlines resides. I travel to Washington State a lot of they have the most connecting flight to the smaller cities I visit, in fact, Alaska is the only airline to most of those smaller cities. Why else does Terminal B have going for it? We'll, it's kind of in the middle. That makes it easier if you deicide you want Carl's Jr or not because it's closer than if you're in Terminal A. What's not good about Terminal B? It's in the middle for drop off. I enjoyed Alaska being in Terminal A because it felt easier to drop off and pick up passengers. Although, it's still better then Terminal C where Southwest live because that terminal is always crazy busy. Overall, I will say John Wayne is one of my favorite airports. It's well laid out, all in one building (can you say LAX?), and has a very functional baggage claim area (again, same building for everything helps). read more

Nice and comfortable. I like smaller airports - they help to reduce the level of stress which is so customary for today's travelers. Was taking late flight. Rental car return - 1 minute. Short walk to the terminal. Security with TSA Pre took maybe 1 minute. From the moment I arrived to the airport grounds until sitting by the gate - may be 10 minutes or so. First time flying out of John Wayne Airport. I didn't know what to expect, as I thought maybe it would be a small airport, but actually it's a very good size one and it's super well kept and very organized. TSA PreCheck was a breeze and there were a whole bunch of people at United when I try to check in. I'm lucky because this is the flight where I was finally get my Premier Platinum Status, it's a nice touch as far as far as traveling goes. Maybe this will get some different perks and maybe a little speedier boarding. However this airport just blows Hawaii's airport away and they should send people up here to take a look at the facilities here and see how things are done right. read more

Located at the center of the airport, this is the part of the terminal where the AA Admirals and United Clubs are. If you are on AA or United you can enjoy a relaxing respite off the concourse. Clean airport that's perfect to get to the Bay Area to Disneyland. I don't have to deal with LAX. No major traffic and to be honest, it's a much safer area. There isn't a huge variety of places to eat, but you can get by. It's hard to find power sockets, so please make sure to bring your own charger. It's a pretty smooth airport. This is my favorite regional airport for many reasons. It's modern and clean with many nice food options. It seems like there is a dining option, store or beverage establishment every 100 yards!
