This place is definitely for the locals. Not great College kids or younger adults. My husband and I stopped in for a quick beer and felt totally out of place being a younger couple. It was obvious everyone in there was older and didn't seen to like us there. The drink selection is definitely lacking, just a few beers on tap and a small bottle collection. Bartender was decent, but was chatting with her friends at the end of the bar the entire time we were there. They do not serve any food, so if you're hungry, order out or bring something in. I found this somewhat odd for how large of a bar it was. I believe it's also cash only. Honestly, it felt a lot like we stepped back in time when we walked in here. Definitely felt out of place and somewhat unwelcome.

Carmen Lynch was hilarious and totally not what we expected. It was a pretty light crowd for a Saturday night show probably because of multiple sporting events going on during the same time so we were able to get 2nd row seats, which was great! The Virgin Sex on the Beach drink I ordered was as good as I remembered it to be although at a much higher price (due to inflation over the years?) Highly recommend checking out ACME Comedy Club for some great laughs. Love that we get to have a nice variety of comics that visit Minnesota!

At first, most of the audience thought what was going on, was a bit. Then security came, then the headliner left the stage, then the audience member had to be ushered out. Props to Acme for deescalating the situation so well and props to the headliner, who had to continue her set. What a show! Pros: - Fun atmosphere - High caliber comedians Cons: - Random people coming on the stage

Seems a missed opportunity for revenue. I know we would have imbibed beyond the first round we bought ourselves on the way in. Then there was the show, "Hypocralypse Now", which was amusing in spots but never exceeded expectations. Good, not great. I would compare the place to Second City in Chicago, in terms of ambiance and atmosphere, and Second City doesn't always hit a home run either. This was fun, and we loved all the taunts of the current vile administration, but perhaps MAGA is too easy a target.

Oh, it felt good to laugh ... and laugh ... and laugh some more. The talented and creative actors made it easy, giving their all to the audience in song, dance, costume ... you name it and they brought it. The theater is on Hennepin Avenue, a black room with seats and tables surrounding the stage. There is an elevator, a large staircase bathrooms for men and women, and a small bar before you enter the theater. A lovely space for a show and relatively easy to navigate for food, parking, etc., even with a stroller (this is NOT a kids' show) or a person using a walker or wheelchair.

The GM came out to address us not abiding to the 2 item limit - very unprofessional (PARKER - wrote his name so sloppy was probably drunk as well) very rude and condescending, he made several excuses for his under the influence employee ignoring us.. but stood on having to buy 2 items or leave. Mind you the kitchen was closed at this point. We are almost an hour into the show. I told him i'm not buying anything after being ignored for an hr and also asked if he wanted us to chug 2 drinks w/ less than an hr left of the show and having to drive home. He suggested we buy 2 bottles of water - each. ABSOLUTELY NOT SPENDING A DIME.. or penny here. After some back and forth about it he said he can offer comp tickets to any other show - WHY THE F would we come back again?! Definitely putting the wrong people in management. The point was we were ignored over an hour, there's nothing you can do for me at that point. I'd never sit at a restaurant over an hr with no service and still spend my money there. It did escalate to security coming to kick us out. Thats where the employees showed their true colors. Just trashed. Yelling despite a show going on. Going back and forth OVER the GM. Just disgusting behavior from GM to drunk servers to drunk host. Hard pass on any show being hosted here.

Very disappointing experience.

Camp Bar: Where cabaret meets community, and every night feels like a little celebration…read more Camp Bar isn't just a place--it's a mood. Tucked into the heart of downtown St. Paul, this spot is equal parts cozy neighborhood hangout and glitter-dusted cabaret lounge. Whether you're here for a comedy show at Laugh Camp, a cocktail with friends, or just vibing solo at the bar, Camp makes you feel like you've arrived somewhere special. The energy? Warm, welcoming, and just the right amount of theatrical. The bartenders serve up strong drinks and stronger banter, and the crowd is a beautiful mix of queer locals, theater kids, trivia nerds, and folks who just wandered in and never wanted to leave. The cabaret space hosts everything from DJ Didi's dance party to stand-up comedy to open mic nights that feel like group therapy with a spotlight. And when the show's over, the party doesn't stop--there's a jukebox, a pool table, and an open garage door to the sidewalk perfect for people-watching and deep conversations. It's the kind of place where you can wear sequins or sweatpants and still get a compliment. Where birthdays are toasted with shots and strangers become fast friends. Where the vibe is always "come as you are," and somehow, you leave feeling a little more fabulous than when you walked in. Camp truly is a family for so many downtown peeps !
