I have been to ACME Comedy Club many times over the years and it is always a fun time! The latest visit was this past weekend with my best friend and it was a great night of laughs. Carmen Lynch was hilarious and totally not what we expected. It was a pretty light crowd for a Saturday night show probably because of multiple sporting events going on during the same time so we were able to get 2nd row seats, which was great! The Virgin Sex on the Beach drink I ordered was as good as I remembered it to be although at a much higher price (due to inflation over the years?) Highly recommend checking out ACME Comedy Club for some great laughs. Love that we get to have a nice variety of comics that visit Minnesota! read more

He Said: Acme is a comedy institution, in Minnesota. Just the laughs that you get deserves 5 stars. The night I went, an incident occurred that is hard to properly explain: one person from the audience comes on stage during the headliners show to talk about something. At first, most of the audience thought what was going on, was a bit. Then security came, then the headliner left the stage, then the audience member had to be ushered out. Acme. Have you been there? It's someplace that brings smiles and is perfect for 1-300. Yes I've had large company get togethers here. I usually bring 6-12 friends along. Good to laugh with friends. Tonight was amongst the best there has ever been here. And I've seen folks here who are regular house hold names today. Today Joe Larson took to the stage and became one of my all time favorites. He worked the audience like a pro. Never offensive. Always gently teasing. Like he already knew every one of us. Catch this guy when you can. I will say he is a master in person. read more

This is a cool comedy club in a fun part of the North Loop. There is lots of street parking nearby. PRO TIP: you can stop by up to 2 hours before the show to claim your tickets - that is when you get your seat assignment, so the early bird gets the worm! I haven't heard great things about the food, so we went to dinner elsewhere and then came to Acme for comedy and drinks. We had a great time and really enjoyed the two opening acts and the headliner. We went for the Craig Robinson show last week. He was great as were the other two comedians that night but the sound was terrible. We were seated about 15' from one of the main speakers and the sound was often distorted and very loud. I wished I had brought ear plugs.....to a comedy show? Yes Craig plays a keyboard and sings but this was a mixing problem with the sound engineer. How do I know? Because that's what I do for a living. I don't think I'll be back. read more

My best friend invited me to a show for his birthday celebration on Wednesday, 5/21/25. I learned you get 4 free tickets.... Yes, I'll be taking advantage of this moving forward. We arrived at 7:30pm to pickup our tickets at the box office. The gal who helped us was very nice and pleasant. She allowed us to pick where we wanted to sit and carried on a small conversation. This was my first time to Acme Comedy Club, I noticed there was a restaurant to eat prior to the show and a bar area in another section. I laughed SO hard this evening. I love the comedy club- they have a really good open mic night on Tuesdays that is free to give the comics an opportunity to try new material. Sign up for the birthday club and you get to choose a free show on the month of your birthday. They have a large parking lot across the street- allow extra time as you have to pay at a machine and it is slow. The reason why this place doesn't get a higher score is that the food is not good. My friend and I recently went to a comedy show and decided to have dinner in their dining area before the show. When we arrived at dinner we were greeted by the host. I noticed that the decor feels the same as 20 years ago. Our waiter arrived at our table and he seemed like he was knew and didn't know the menu very well. We ordered a bottle of wine, dinner and added salads to our meals. When the wine arrived he didn't open it or pour the first glass. I feel like that is a normal practice when you buy a bottle of wine but I could be wrong. Our dinner arrived but our salads didn't. They should have arrived before dinner but the waiter must have forgotten. The dinner was good and overall tasted good. Once we were done with dinner, we were seated in the front row for the comedy show. We had a blast and the comedians were hilarious. The waitress came to check on us many times to see if we wanted more drinks. I will come back for a show but I might try out another dinner location in the area next time. read more

Had such a fun time seeing comedian Sahib Singh! Haven't been here in prob over 12 years and it was so fun and intimate I can't wait to come back. It definitely could use some refurbishment and some of the seats etc look a bit old and worn but overall a great time was had. Really good value for money and all 3 comedians(openers) were really funny,audience was great nobody talked or played on their phones during the show. Staff were quirky but nice. They have a decent bar selection and wine was cheaper than most places,only had cheese curds for a quick bite before so can't comment on the food. I'm not sure what to expect as I've never been to a comedy show before but online there wasn't much guidelines on the website besides when to arrive to pick up the tickets. I did that and we had a drink at the main restaurant area, took a long time the server was very busy. Not his fault but we had to also wave him down to pay out so we could get seated. Irritating. Just bring the bill right away we just ordered drinks. The server inside was very nice and upon learning that it was my birthday did accommodate us with a free birthday shot, I requested a lemon drop. She helped us get another round when needed and also brought me a water when I asked. The seating was AWFUL unfortunately this is where things really went wrong. Apparently, they were understaffed, because we were waiting for an usher for about a minute and none came. My friends and I along with others waiting just walked in and we were confused by the seating. Went back out to view the ushers helping two drunk idiots who flailed their arms onto my friend earlier so I was like um hi we need help and they were like no I'm busy and I said "no you are going to help us first we were here first" after being told I did the wrong thing when THEY are understaffed (according to themselves) why wouldn't they have one usher stand at the podium and one usher people in. The chairs were pushed together and tables cramped with white mens arms (mandacity) 2 inches from pushing our drinks off the table. When my friend asked the man to be conscious of our drinks all he said was "do you want me to move my arm?" IDK GENIUS. YOU TELL ME. The ushers also told us to be quiet like this emoji and yet when we called them over to ask what we did wrong (engaging with the comedian when prompted) they ran away from my friend. Ushers were absolutely horse sh*t. Didn't even ask about seating preferences I have an unruly bladder and I would have rather sat somewhere easy to exit. Would literally never come back here the only good part was the comedy and the blonde waitress with big earrings big smile who helped us when we were in our seats. The tickets were free for my birthday but we spent about $100 on drinks including tips $14 carafes x 4, beers x 2, free lemon drops but we tipped $10 and $20 on the comedian's vinyl. Take with that information what you will. Parking for this location is also troublesome if you can't get a street spot. $10 evening rate for the lot across the street. read more

We came here for a comedy show and had an absolute blast. It's a quaint little spot for a comedy show. We grabbed drinks at the bar ahead of time but they also serve drinks during the show. We all said that our cheeks were so sore from so much smiling & laughter - which is a WONDERFUL problem to have. We definitely plan to come back for more shows in the future. I went to Acme for the first time yesterday and I now know I definitely need to make multiple trips back. The ticket booth workers were very friendly, the ushers were also quick and friendly. We ordered drinks at the bar and got them really quickly but they also come around during the show asking if you would like more drinks. I definitely thought Acme was going to be a bigger place but I loved how it felt small and intimate. Saw River Butcher perform here a couple nights ago and had a great time with a group of good friends. This isn't a review of River though, but of the club itself. As you'd expect, YMMV quite a lot on how entertained you'll be by who is performing and how well it fits your taste. The seats were comfortable enough for watching a show for a couple hours, and the venue is fairly spacious, but still feels cozy. The location in North Loop is pretty easy to get to and there's a good amount of parking in the area. As you walk in it's a large, expansive area broken into a bar, the Sticks restaurant, the box office, and then the doors leading to the showroom. There's some smooth jazz playing, and it just feels like the kind of place where you could sip a cocktail and listen to smooth jazz. I'm going to review the Sticks restaurant separately. We did the Dinner and Show, which basically is $15 more than the cost of a ticket alone, and I enjoyed the show part a good bit more. If I had to do it over again I'd save the $15 extra for the "dinner" and do something else for food, because with the way Sticks does pricing, you aren't going to get an actual dinner out of the deal without paying a good bit more. read more

One of my favorite venues in the Twincy. Coming from NYC, this one is the closest feel to what a comedy club should be. Reasonable tickets, great space (as long as you're not behind a pillar), and solid talent. Louis CK came last week, Asiz Ansari tried out new material here, and other big names stop by. I've been going for years, since they have away free tickets for one's birthday if you call in advance. Food is meh, lots of better options in the area... but bar is ok, just pricey bc that's how a comedy club makes their $$. I feel like this might be a hidden hideaway in the north loop. Driving here I was wondering where the heck we were going but once we arrived, it was quite clear we arrived. Walking in it isn't what you'd expect. You have to walk down some stairs and the entrance is a common area with a bar, restaurant and what looked like a lounge area as well. You have to check in and we didn't have assigned seats so I'd recommend showing up early to get good seats. Also, they're not the most comfortable so grab a few drinks so your painful arse doesn't become an issue. The staff were very accommodating, quick and attentive. We were served drinks almost right away. The show started promptly and the comedians on Valentine's Day put on a great show. Glad I got to visit this place and get a few laughs! read more

Had a great time at Acme comedy club with my parents and my sister! We went to the Sam Jay show at 7, and she was hilarious and appealed to all ages. My parents are 50+ and they loved it! It was a great positive atmosphere and we definitely will be back. I'm excited to come during my birthday month for a few free tickets! I've been here maybe 6-7 times and every time I've loved it. I'm not there for the food but it's a nice addition. I like the drink service at our seats and with how busy it can get I'd say the service there is quality. I haven't had any issues with them. The venue is super intimate so it allows you to be up close and personal with some big names that show up occasionally, but beware, the comedians will play around with the front row. The seating on the floor is unorthodox as you don't sit with another two people but you both share the same space, not a big deal unless there's a really tall person in front of you. That's annoying if you're shorter and they're immediately blocking the comedian. But that's not exactly the venues fault, it's like that at any concert. Parking is relatively easy for how close you can park. Definitely recommend. read more

This is one of very few comedy clubs in the Twin Cities, and they do bring in some big names. Generally I have a great time there-- the comedians are funny, service inside the venue is good, and ticket prices are reasonable. One of the bummers about this venue are that there are big beams throughout the room, so some people have trouble seeing the comedian unless they stay in the dead center of the stage. The other thing that bugs me is that the bar doesn't seem that clean. I feel like they need to clean their taps more often-- my tap beer has often tasted a bit funky. Probably best to stick to their cocktails, which you should do anyway because they come in a massive carafe! read more

My husband and I are regulars here, for the shows AND the food. We've seen some big names like Tom Segura, Nate Bargatze, and Christina P as well as some great locals like Chad Daniels and Pete Lee... Acme takes their talent seriously; we've never seen a bad or unfunny show here. There's a system to the tickets - they assign seats to the first people to claim them so definitely arrive early for better seats, even if you ordered them online months ago. If you show up 10 minutes before the show, you'll be in the back. Their restaurant, Sticks, is fantastic and you can also get their food in the Acme bar area. They had some iffy yelp reviews but it's bar-food, not gourmet, so skip the salad or the burgers if you want to be wowed and get the apps. Their fries and chips have amazing house seasoning, their Korean ribs are hands-down the BEST ribs I've ever had, my husband said these ones are the best wings he has ever had too! They serve drinks throughout the show which is a nice perk. This last time we were seated under a cold air vent and I didn't have a jacket so the waitress brought me a big hot cocoa which was delicious (and they can make it boozy if you prefer)! The shows here have always been affordable, usually around $35/ticket even for the bigger shows and the venue has great visibility. This is definitely our favorite venue for comedy in the Twin Cities! read more

Fantastic experience at Al Franken's recent show--delicious meal and great service at restaurant beforehand, and terrific set by Sen. Franken. The layout and decor in the old brick building are so cool...parking affordable and abundant nearby...staff helpful...venue is AMAZING and smallish with terrific views available no matter where you sit, it appears. Comfortable seats, service offered throughout. I read some reviews beforehand that suggested the club staff are sometimes too strict about removing boisterous guests--but I saw no sign of that. The audience is expected to laugh...but not interfere with the performance or disrespect the talent. I applaud that and will return! Have heard open mic night is especially fun. read more

We recently enjoyed a night out at the Acme. We started with drinks and sandwiches. BLT - good CILANTRO SHIITAKE CHICKEN BURGER - very good The emcee was Ali Sultan and he was funny. He provided a good intro into Shannan Paul. Shannan is really funny and I would pay to see her headline. I really laughed hard. The headliner was Brian Scolaro and he bombed. Brian was really awful and only 3 drunk people laughed. On the way out, a young couple who had been heckled by Brian, came up to us and said it was great seeing us out enjoying ourselves. They hoped at "our age" they would still be going out. We smiled and then went to the car and had the hardest laugh of the night. read more

I had the worst experience ever at a comedy club. My friends and I laughed several times and were promptly told by a worker "you are not allowed to laugh at this show." We refrained for awhile and then let out a laugh later on which we were promptly kicked out by. We took it up with the manager and he said "we don't allow people to laugh at our shows or express enthusiasm" to which we were surprised. 10/26 8pm show. Bought ticket online Note: we had eaten a late late lunch around 4pm because we hadn't eaten all day due to travelling and didn't arrive to our hotel until then. Dinner arrival was between 5:30-6:30pm. We arrived at 6pm thinking we could still get a little something to eat and a dessert since a meal was included. When seated, our server admitted that she (Nicole?) could not explain very well how the dinner and show meals work and said we could spend $70 and would have to pay for anything that went over that price. As we looked at the priced menu we began to choose items to ensure we did not exceed that amount before tax. Items ordered: (from the priced menu) Water: Free Wings (8) from appetizer menu: $17 Chipotle fettuccine: $18 Caesar salad: $8 House salad: $5 (price to add to entree) New York cheesecake: $8 When we received our bill our balance due was $24.24 before tip. I am a finance person and this math stumped me! Looking at the receipt we were charged $35 for the wings and $35 for the chipotle fettuccine. When the server tried to explain the bill she said the they charged the appetizer as an entree and the salads and desserts were not included in the dinner ticket and were separate. Salad not included in dinner ticket? Although I still left a 20% tip, I walked away feeling cheated out of my money. Is this common practice to mislead your customers about the dinner and show tickets? If this is how you do business, I would not endorse anyone to purchase this package without better explanation of what is, and what is not included. The food was good and the comedy show was good. Went to see a comedian, Namish Patel with friends. We bought our tickets separately and asked to sit together. The staff gave us the best seats in the house (NOT). We were seated at the farthest section away from the comedian and by the door. He also insisted we could not sit together but separated us back to back and claimed the seats were assigned. Like he decided to assign us the crappiest spots in the house. There were people who came in after us who were seated closer to the stage. To add to such an awesome night, the waitress took forever to take our order and when she finally stopped by, she took my cc after taking our order and held on to my card for a very long time. I realized she was intending to put everyone's drink orders on my tab and I told her our tabs were separate. She assured me she would take care of it and that my cc was only used to start the order. Come closing, she brings out the tabs and I assume she gave everyone their tab. I pay for my order with cash and I see my be of my friends did as well. Today, I looked at my cc statement and the waitstaff charged me $53.36!!! WTF. I'm pissed, I paid for my order with cash and even tipped her for her shitty service yet she robbed me and charged me illegally $53.36. I know it's not much but the situation leaves a shitty taste in my mouth and I will be disputing the unethical charges. read more

Laughing is like, really really fun. I do a lot of it at Acme, so I'm totally a fan. I've seen a couple weekend shows here recently, and I had a blast. One thing that I love about Acme is that it is a small, intimate venue. There are not a ton of seats, so you will always be pretty close to the stage. However, I wish the seating was tiered a little, because I am short and always the one craning my neck trying to see past normal-height humans. Ugh, but that's my daily struggle. Useful info: It's $18 per show, and assigned seating. However, military and student ID's get you $5 tickets! There is paid parking across the street, but I have been able to find street spots (free in the evening). The shows that start at 10:30pm usually get out around midnight. Drinks at the bar are about $8-10 for signature cocktails, and rail/well shots are $4.50. The comedians I've seen have been pretty cool and will hang out with people after the show. read more

ACME has become a pretty consistent name on my agenda for the last year or so and I don't really see that changing anytime soon. They have a comfortable bar to cozy on up to prior to show start that has a nice cocktail selection (Colorado Bulldog being my favorite - think giant White Russian) served in good sized carafes at reasonable prices. Beer selection leaves a bit to be desired, but it is a comedy club and they do go beyond just your standard macro selections so I can't complain. They also have the same drink service once you're inside the theater area as well. The acts that ACME pulls in can vary pretty significantly and some nights will be better than others, but I've never come close to feeling I haven't gotten my money's worth. Speaking of getting your money's worth - join their Insider list for two free tickets a month or find an unsuspecting friend that has a birthday each month (as well as 4 other friends) and you can get in free. Also, for you college folks (or those still pretending to be in college), put down the beer bong or skip the toga party, grab your college ID, head to ACME and you get in for $5 almost all nights (I think there is an exception for one show on Friday and not valid Saturday) - it'll be an enjoyable night you'll actually remember. The rotation usually goes as follows: ACME emcee/opening act (hit or miss), featured act (usually a seasoned local comedy vet) followed by the headliner (check their website - usually rope in a couple of good national acts each month). Hecklers and bachelorette parties should head to Drink, Spin, Barfly or somewhere else where your annoying behavior is more likely to be tolerated. read more

Do I feel obligated to write a funny review for a comedy club? I won't lie; I feel some compulsion to do so. But sometimes facts aren't funny. And that's just the way things work. Price: $15 per person per show Reservations: Strongly Recommended. The seats fill up fast. That being said, it's pretty easy to call on Friday afternoon and reserve seats for the show that night so it only requires a few hours of forward thinking (a bonus for someone like me who did not inherit an outing/event planning gene). Seating: Kind of weird. The stage the comic stands on is a fairly low platform so if you're sitting in the back, I can almost promise that you will have an obstructed view. If you're sitting in the very front, you will almost assuredly become a part of the routine (some people like that; I don't). My favorite place to sit is somewhere in the middle because there is a good view of the stage, you feel like you're "in there" but you're far enough away that you won't become comic fodder. Format: 3 comedians: --One local amateur who serves as the MC by introducing each act and telling the intoxicated audience the location of the bathrooms. --One semi-pro who is an up and coming hopeful but who isn't all the way there yet. --One "headliner" who is usually someone who has appeared on Comedy Central at some point in time or done a stint on one of the late night shows with Conan or Dave. Every time I've ever been here, the headliner has never been someone I'd heard of but the credentials on their resume were very recognizable. Drinks: They have a full bar with strong drinks that are reasonably priced, all things considered. Lately I've been on a wine kick but I think the next time I come here I'll try one of their carafe's. For $8 you get a reasonably large carafe of mixed girly drink. My annual quota for frou-frou drinks is quite low and is almost entirely filled during the summer months, so maybe the next time I come here I'll try one. Service: The servers take orders and schlep drinks throughout the entire show. The first time I came here I was worried that this would be distracting but it really isn't. They're dressed in dark clothing and are very good about squatting down to take orders and moving quickly through the aisles so they aren't blocking anyone's view for more than a second or two. It's very unobtrusive service. I believe its cash only for this service, so make sure you have plenty on hand because: Comedian + alcohol = ;lajfeaiejae YAY!!!! read more

This place always makes me laugh! Now, I think I am pretty funny, but never would i get up on stage and try to entertain a crowd that paid to see a show! So, I always take that into consideration when attending a comedy show. This shit is hard, even if you are funny! I've come here to see comics I love. I've come here with no idea of who is going to preform or whether they will be funny. I've also come here to see a friend attempt amateur night after losing a bet. Come early and have a drink at the bar and/or the restaurant to loosen up. Then be prepared to drink wildly concocted cocktails, delivered by a server during the show. Typically, there are at least 3-4 comedy acts. The last should be the funniest, as they are the headliner. It is my experience that the local MC is pretty funny as well. Most of the weekend performance have an early show and a late show. The late shows tend to be more fun with raunchier jokes and cursing! ***Birthday bonus: Bring you and 5 friends to a show during the week for free the month of your birthday (if you join their email club)!
