So glad the comedy club is back, really enjoyed our evening, this is a much easier location to park and locate.

Had an absolute blast, the comedians were top notch. Also recommend the crooked pint as our dinner was awesome.

First time there. It was a very nice place. I called for reservations for 10 of us. We sat n a really nice place. Our waiter was nice, but seemed a little snippy at times...like he had no patience for us. I'm not complaining, though...he did a lot of work during the show. Had no idea that military is supposed to get in free. I didn't see that on the website nor did they ask when I called. I was not going to try to get my money back, though. We will be back. read more

Friday Oct 25, 2019 7:30pm show with Kate Brindle and Headliner Marty DeRosa Goonies' Comedy Club @ The Crooked Pint Rochester, MN. Let me start by saying the venue itself was top notch. From the greeting by the host Matt sitting us up front promptly. Our server spot on, great food, drinks not having to ask for refills. On to the comedy. It was a small crowd and not very diverse. The MC who described herself as the Lunch Lady manager was ok. Rough around the edges but certainly everyone can relate to the lunch lady and unions vs management. I really liked that. Then we have Kate Brindle. Sweet Kate Brindle. She was deceiving and polite even as a few members of the audience kept interjecting into her routine and she handled them with ease, class and respect. Not to mention a quick-witted comeback. She easily connected with the audience and brought the story back around to her bumper sticker. I enjoyed her act. And then there is Marty DeRosa the headliner from Chicago. He gets to the stage and realizes my friend has his phone out and was texting. Immediately DeRosa starts berating my friend in a very rude manner. Not jokingly or in a jovial manner but very assine. So, after his barrage of insults the phone is put away but then DeRosa's attack goes toward my friend's facial expression and arms crossed. Now my friend was silent this whole time. After audience members told DeRosa there were more than him in the audience. De Rosa had come colorful metaphors for my friend. I yelled for DeRosa to move on already. as I said the 3 of us are in the front row. DeRosa kept going on like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton all rolled into one. With the same ego to boot. Again, I shouted to move on. I was told well Bleep you too! So now he finally tried to get into his "routine" if that is what he calls it. This so-called comedian is certainly nothing but someone who cries for attention while living in mama's basement. I certainly understand why people who have contact with him are wrestling with depression. I can't tell you which is worse, his comedy or his wresting. We chose to leave after I confronted DeRosa in front of the stage about his comments without respect for the men and women who allow people like him the freedom to do his "comedy". He is just another idiot who thinks the world revolves around them as if he were a Hollywood or WWE Superstar. We'll let me tell ya something brother. At least the WWE knows how to treat the military and veterans with respect. Without people like us you would not have the freedom to pursue what you want or love to do. So next time you are on stage maybe you need to walk back your Chicago attitude. I have attended many comedy shows from Tim Allen, The Blue-Collar Comedy Tour comics from last comic standing and locals where we live. No one has ever disrespected members of the audience like that. I am an Air Force Defender and I will always have my Brother's six. I hope our fellow military veterans will boycott Marty DeRosa and any of his endeavors. It is unfortunate that this happened as it ruined it for everyone but after speaking with the manager Matt while settling my bill for food and drinks, he stated "we got a raw deal". Give Goonies/Crooked Pint a try or if you see a show with Kate's name pops up stop and see her. . read more

This is a huge space, and it's open late; plus, it's one of the few kitchens open late. Bonus: bar food was 50% off late at night.. $4.50 for chicken tenders??? There's plenty of seating here, and we started off with shots (they did have grey goose and a pretty extensive bar). For the munchies, we got popcorn, which was very addictive (buttery, salty, not stale). They had a few beers on taps and lots of other drink options, so we did a few rounds. The best part was that they do have food to go with the alcohol. Chicken tenders were freshly fried and hot, and adding fries was only $3. Service was quick and friendly. It's a nice spacious option for something later with both food and alcohol in the Mayo clinic area. read more

I've been here twice now and had an absolute blast each time! The comedians they had both times were really great. I went in not expecting too much because I've lived outside of Rochester and have been to other amazing comedy clubs. However, I was pretty surprised with this little gem downtown. The space isn't huge but it's cozy and had plenty of room for our party of 6. The service was excellent and I will definitely be bringing more friends back here! read more

Open Mic Night is a hit-or-miss, so come with low expectations (I mean, it IS free, after all). Paid shows are usually pretty good, and the joint's pretty small so you get great seats for a decent price. Decent beer selection, with the usual cocktails and crappy bar food. You can grab dinner in the restaurant/bar downstairs before you hit the show, or pre-game at a nearby establishment. Or at your home, which is probably less than 10 minutes away. read more

This is a great spot for a quick lunch or afternoon cocktail. Its normally a pretty quite but lively atmosphere to have a meeting or just relax. I like their salads, sandwiches and burgers. read more

We were very excited to try out Goonies for a girls night out, and ended up being extremely disappointed. We bought our tickets online, showed up with a group of 6, and were placed at a table meant for 4 people. On top of that we were squished into the back corner, by the door meant for the waiters. Immediately, as we were seated, and waiter firmly told us that we were going to have to figure out our seating arrangement, because we were in the way of the door. When we approached the host about this, he said that we were out of luck because seats were determined and it was a full house. So when we asked for a refund (we were not going to sit and be uncomfortable all night), he continually ignored our complaints saying "well you have six, there isn't much I can do about that." Eventually, after much probing, we were able to get tickets for a future show. I have never been spoken to both so rudely or had my concerns be blatantly ignored, as they were at Goonies. I am sure if you went with a group of 2, 4, or 8 you would be okay. Just DO NOT go with 6 people apparently! read more

Wonderful little comedy club. I haven't been to many others, but I've been here more than a few times and this one is just about perfect. It's a little small to bring in the big names, but it's actually kind of nice because it feels so much more personal, like the comedian is talking directly to you. And of course they're always funny, sometimes gut busting funny. The staff is super awesome too! Even the owner, he pretends to be a jerk, but all he cares about is his customers having a good time. Although the drink menu, staff, and atmosphere were above average there was one issue with the meal: the celery. I often assume my celery pallet is slightly more refined than the average pub goer; however, I do feel that the overall disappointing celery experience should be noted. First, clearly being in Minnesota in the winter offers very little choices for fresh celery (fresh being used very illiberally I might add), however; I do expect to find celery within three months of being harvested. I was clearly hoping for a fresh petiole in the ideal 7 week time frame but I wasn't going to penalize Goonies for not being able to deliver this request. Second, clearly this celery was of South American decent and not of the typical pascal variety that is often harvested in North America. Although South American celery can be fantastic (celery grown in the acidic soils of Patagonia is my favorite!!) The pale green colour around the rib of the celery indicate that this particular stalk was harvested well before its prime. Clearly with its weak flavor, this particular celery was purchased from northern region of South American. I couldn't quite pin-point the exact country but guessing from the early harvest, I would hypothesis that this came from Ecuador, a country known for its sloppy celery techniques. Shockingly the most disappointing aspect of the celery was the appearance. Clearly ignoring the beauty of the celery, the stalk was visibly mishandled and damaged during plating. Even more insulting was the fact that the remnants of the petioles remained on the stalk as if one wouldn't have noticed. Even with this carelessness, I cannot leave celery uneaten and whimpered quietly as I finished twenty seven stalks. Sorry Goonies, I won't be ordering the celery again! read more

What a little gem in downtown Rochester! We needed something to do on a Friday night, and found this, right across the street from our hotel. I just wish we had been adventurous enough to go to the open mic night on Thursday, the two comics on Friday were so funny my face hurt from laughing, and the waitstaff did a great job of keeping our glasses full. read more

I come to Goonies almost every Thursday night to watch their open mic night. There is no cover on Thursdays and you get to see a variety of comedians. They have events going on all the time if you want to catch a show, but like all comedy, it might be hilarious, or it might not be. Some comics preform the same act every week but there are a few new people or comics who are testing out new material who are hilarious! The beauty of it is, if you don't think someone is funny, they are only on stage for a few minutes and it's on to the next one! A fun place to try out. You can also get any of the food from McGoon's in the club and there is a bar up there. read more

They have the comedy club upstairs and a restaurant downstairs. Restaurant food is NOT available in the comedy club. I called in advance and they told me they had a "full menu" but neglected to tell me it was only available downstairs. Upstairs the only food for sale are small over-priced slider type sandwiches. Downstairs looked good. If they had explained how things worked on the phone or on their website we would arrived in time to eat downstairs. The comedy club atmosphere was great. However, I am only giving three stars because of misguided information about the food and the lack of any decent food in the club when they have a great restaurant just downstairs. read more

Goonies is an AWESOME spot!! My boyfriend and I are regulars there and attend late shows every Saturday night. Comics come in all varieties and every show is unpredictable Waitstaff is friendly and prompt...a real treat to be a guest at Goonies or the Pub downstairs!! read more

Love going to the free open mic nights here. The comedy on those nights is extremely hit and miss, but always a good time nonetheless. Small bar, but the last time I was there they had a good special going. $20 for all you could drink tap beer (any kind they offered) and you got to take home the glass. I'm pregnant, so I didn't indulge... but my friends really enjoyed that. The bartender was also friendly about making my friend and I virgin drinks. I have eaten here in the past and the food was good. Love me some Goonies :) read more

Tired of the endless search for weekend entertainment (and let's face it, which Rochester-ite isn't)?! Look no further then Goonie's Comedy Club! This club is a nightlife pinnacle in an otherwise lackluster city. And the restaurant downstairs (McGoon's) is a heavily overlooked eatery. Don't expect your typical bar food here! McGoon's menu is full of excellent dishes that could easily hold their own with some of the best restaurants in all of Rochester--- I highly recommend coming in before showtime for dinner. My personal favorite is the Portobella Mushroom Sandwich with homemade kettle chips. Delicious! read more

This is our favorite place to go in Rochester! Great drinks and great service. Haven't tried the food yet but it looks and smells yummy.

Love comedy nights there. THe nachos are awesome. Only thing I didn;t like is the really loud 80s music in the bar. Try more variety that appeals to a lot of people. The Comedy Club was great, the waiter, Simon, was great, but the manager, Mark, was a dick. He sat me way back, and when I moved up, (when the tables in front of me were empty for about 20 more minutes,) instead of politely telling me that the empty tables in front of me were reserved for a large group, he came up to me, and told me rudely, "That's why I tossed your coaster on that table back there.
