I found a hidden gem within the Lehigh Valley! Johnnie's has plenty of parking, plenty of indoor seating, is kept clean, and was nicely decorated. I was pleasantly surprised with the prices and the portions were LARGE, fresh, and flavorful. The service was stellar throughout our visit and we were beyond full. Recently moved to PA from NY, my wife and I were looking for at least decent pizza in PA farm country. Early in our search we found Johnnie's Restaurant & Pizza and had to look no more. The pizza is as good as in NY, and the food we've tried so far is close to home made. We've been back several times and try to have something different every time to put the menu and the food to the test. The sauce is like homemade and my wife and I jar our own tomatoes. People we have brought there to ask their opinion ask to go back when they come to visit. It's a casual, unpretentious local place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable, service is attentive and friendly. We've made it our regular Italian food spot. Will be going back again soon. read more

Lots of food items to choose from, not just pie. Staff was very friendly and busy making pies, taking call-in orders, and dine in guest. Great music is playing in a cozy dining area. The Toppings was excellent and plentiful, the crust was crispy with a good yeasty hint. I was disappointed in the red pizza sauce, I was expecting more of something to complement the cheese and toppings. Maybe the cheese could have browned more. We were passing through Bangor while on vacation and stumbled onto this gem by chance. We weren't sure if they were open for lunch but hit a u-turn and took a chance. Walked in the door and were instantly greeted by the smell of fresh Italian cooking. Amazing! We were the only customer, as it was early, so we got the personal experience of conversing with the owner, Johnny. What a character! He made fresh calamari for me (the best calamari I've ever had!) and my wife ordered a spinach calzone. Between the conversation and the food, it was the high point of the day for us. I've never been a fan of cannolis but Johnny convinced me to try his and now I'm sold. The cannoli crust was super light as was the filling with bits of chocolate mixed in. I had no idea how good an authentic cannoli could be! The menu is huge and I wish we lived close so we could come here all the time and try all of it. Disappointing. Ordered a Sicilian pie & garlic knots to go. Opened the box at home to find the crust burnt on the pizza and the garlic knots, and the bottom crust of the pizza doughy in the center. Would have returned it if I hadn't picked it up in a snowstorm on the way home from work. read more

A little hole in the wall that serves some of the best Italian food I've had. I went with a couple buddies and we were all blown away. We go to the Italian Festival in Manhattan every year, and this is certainly up to par with Italian spots all over Little Italy. It's BYOB as well! All of the sauces are homemade. My buddies ordered the alfredo parmesan sauce with linguini and shrimp, and there were real chunks of the parmesan block in the sauce. I ordered the homemade vodka sauce with ravioli and chicken, absolutely delicious. My only complaint is that there was a very small amount of chicken, but I was full nonetheless. The rolls they give you before your meal are also homemade. The wait staff as well as the kitchen is very courteous. We will certainly be back, this may be the new after-skiing meal spot! read more

Me and my wife finally visited Johnny's, so far its my favorite pizza in Pennsylvania. Finally a pizza with fresh Mozzarella cheese instead of some greasy cheap cheese. This place has the potential of being a 5 star place but I have to try more dishes. The owner Johnny was great, very nice guy, he really loves his work and is proud of his business. Torn on this review because I have ordered food some days and have gotten incredible food-really amazing fried calamari, really good sandwiches, and they have great desserts. However after ordering regularly we now have decided to be done with Johnnies, there is no consistency and we had a few major issues.. the one day we called and asked if they had a chicken bacon ranch pizza on their menu, they said yes, however they really do not and we got a regular pizza with chopped chicken tenders and blue cheese dressing poured on top. Then most recently we ordered a plain pizza, wings, and a cold Italian sub for delivery-we live one mile from the restaurant, it took over an hour and a half to get dropped off-I get being overwhelmed and busy but then inform people it will take longer when someone says 20 minutes and it takes an hour and a half with no call given saying it will be delayed, I'm mad and hangry-my kids were hungry and crying for dinner, I had to make them food on the fly while waiting for food to be delivered. Then the icing on the cake is the food comes without the sandwich which they already charged me for, after calling they finally did come back around and dropped the sandwich off two hours after I ordered it (it was a half assed thrown together sandwich)-they did at least refund me for the sandwich but it seems like a lot of overwhelmed teenagers working there out of their wheelhouse with not enough management or direction. read more

I was traveling to PA for rafting and headed to Franklin Hill Vineyards. On my way back to New York City I stopped at this pizzeria. It was def a great choice especially given the area. The owner is from Yonkers, NY and takes pride in his pizza. It was a little burned on the bottom on one of the slices but the Margherita Pizza was delicious. The cheese was amazing, the basil freshly picked, and omg the tomatoes. It tasted very fresh. Clean sitting area as well and doesn't have that gross fast food pizza place feel. If I am ever back in Bangor, PA I would def stop by. Very casual place. read more

I was there when Johnny was serving and he's such a nice guy! My wife and I had Eggplant Parm and Chicken Parm sandwiches and everything was perfect. The fries were just regular straight cuts, but the bread was soft but crispy, the chicken was breaded and crisp and the sauce had large chunks of tomato in it. I had to add a little salt but it was nice and tender. My wife noted that the eggplant was cut thin and tasted VERY fresh. Rather than being like a typical eggplant parm she said it was like something her grandmother would make and fried eggplant was her specialty.
