There was a local police officer in front of us in line which we were going to pay for their food... nope... The Team didn't even charge the officer for her slice! Awesome way to give back to those protecting us daily! Now our pizza was so fresh & tasty!!!!! Rocco's Red is what we ordered and it was so dang tasty!!!! Packed of flavor!!!! I've had their pizza before and was blown away but this Ricco's Red had a little extra Razzle Dazzle to it!!! The staff was very friendly and although a hot day they were still smiling and serving up the best pies Omaha has ever seen in my opinion!!!! Johnny Riccos has been a regular at my offices Food Truck Wednesday event tor the past few years...I've seen them at every big event in Omaha from Midwest Fest to Junkstock. I've never not had a great experience. The slices are HUGE! The toppings are high quality. I think I've tried all the options and I can't find a fave. They're all great! They're fresh and fast; always gonna get your food before the rest of trucks if you're at an event. Big Bonus for me: they're hilarious. Great sense of humor. No rushing you. And always putting the customer first. Military discount and...there are Veterans working amongst the truck. Easiest way to know where they will be is by checking their website and Facebook! Tried this pizza today at a work event. The Ricco's Red pizza came out quickly and had a beautiful pesto drizzle. The crust was perfectly thin and the sauce was a great balance of sweet and savory. My one complaint is how much oil was visible in the pizza. I definitely blotted off the excess. Otherwise, it was an incredible pizza and one slice was enough for a meal. The cannoli dessert was super satisfying and was on par with the cannolis I tried in Little Italy in the Boston area. We had Johnny Ricco's cater my son's graduation party and I cannot say enough about the overall experience with them! They arrived early to set up, did their thing and were ready to go when our guests arrived. It was an insanely windy day so I was worried about people standing outside to wait for the pizza to be done but not a single person seemed bothered. I would estimate at least 50 people contacted me after the party to get the name of the pizza place from our party. The pizza is AMAZING!! The staff, AMAZING! Johnny Ricco's rolled up with their food truck to the conference hotel I was staying at last weekend. I only had an hour in between events at the conference, so it was perfect to just grab a slice and then get back to conferencing. I went ahead and just got a plain slice of cheese with a side of marinara and a water. For that, it was $11. Now, I'm not saying you can't charge a good $7+ for a slice of pizza, but it had better be mind-blowing pizza since two pieces would be the cost of a full pie most places. For me, it was just alright. Hit the spot and was tasty, but for the high price tag, not exactly my favorite. If I hadn't need to stay close to the hotel, I probably would have gone with another lunch option in the area. read more

My new favorite pizza in town! To be honest, a few years ago I would have scoffed at the thought of liking pizza from a food truck. Johnny Ricco's has changed my opinion of that! I was immediately transported to some of my favorites back east: perfect crust, savory sauce, cheese and a dusting of Italian seasoning. I believe this is a fairly new food truck and it's also a new vendor at my workplace. They have a variety of specialty pizza by the slice, a meatball sub, Italian sausage & peppers, wraps and cannoli for dessert. I opted for a slice of the Brooklyn Blue (pepperoni, Italian sausage, red onions, mushrooms, peppers, olives) and it was pretty huge served on a paper plate. They were doing a brisk business but the wait was only 5 minutes or so. Most entrees cost around $6.00 and a cannoli for dessert was $3.00 extra. Pizza crust was thin and a bit burnty. Still delicious! I would definitely try it again (buffalo chicken and jalapeno popper sound interesting!). I'd probably pass on the cannoli next time. The shell was a bit too crunchy and the filling had a grainy sweetness rather than the smoother consistency I prefer. They post their location schedule on Facebook and Twitter. read more

Johnny Riccos: When someone hears the idea of Pizza from a food truck, the idea of conveyor belts of reheated frozen cardboard can be a pretty common thought. After all. It's what fast food giants love to do. It would be really, really easy to take what works, repackage it, and sell it on a local scale. Not Johnny Riccos. The truck pulled up around 11:30 and I inserted myself into the line around 12. A fast line is usually a concern for a food truck. I've eaten at quite a few where slow cookers, heat lamps, and warming trays are the common norm. I was shocked to see an entire, full sized pizza oven shoved and held down in this truck, while one of the rotating staff was tossing dough in the air and spreading ingredients on prepared crusts. The rate that pies were coming out were only matched by the number of excited customers leaving the line. While the cost was more comparable to a sit down restaurant, I have to admit that I think the price is justified. If the marinara sauce is using 'homemade' as a buzzword, then I am completely fooled. The sauce tastes, looks, and smells homemade. It has just the right amount of zest and the cheese doesn't overwhelm the slice. There's plenty of crust at the end, which makes the slice perfect for eating "New York" style. I tried the pepperoni and one of their specialty slices the "Blake's White" which is reminiscent of a Cheesy Garlic bread. Their 'FAQ' in the window recommended their sauce as a side, and I will admit, that it almost needs it. The slice is very rich and needs the tomato to cut through. One thing that will be unsettling to picky eaters will be the grease on the pizza, but this is pretty usual on a New York style slice. This happens because of the heat being applied on both the top and bottom sides of the pizza releasing the butter fats in the cheese. There's no "Extra grease" applied here before the cooking process. I say this because I watched them make it and would love to dispel any possible concern, not because I doubted their process. With this being a food truck, pushing to make pizza as quickly as possible, it's not surprising there's some grease, but my experience was NOT hampered by this. Instead, I felt like I was in Brooklyn. Given Omaha's self-proclaimed 'Little Italy' sector of town, I decided to try their Homemade Cannoli as well. Many establishments in town don't go the full distance for an authentic cannoli and use a pudding rather than a sweet ricotta. I won't waste your time describing it poeticly. It's amazing. You'd do yourself a disservice not to try one. Johnny Riccos is a must hit Omaha Food Truck, with a product that I'd consider comparable, if not better than Zios, Lighthouse Pizza, or Piezone Pizzaria. A solid 4.5/5 read more

It is not in my pizza culture to fold my pizza. I just don't do it, wasn't raised that way and never adapted to it. Johnny Riccos Brooklyn Pizza was at Benson Days today and I literally had no choice but to fold my damn pizza, unless I wanted to eat it with a knife and a fork (which wasn't an easy option). It was a huge slice. So I folded my pizza and their just crisp enough crust held in all this goodness of a ton of pepperoni and quality cheeses cooked to the gooey sweet spot. The cannoli was so good (flavorful and that flakey crust) that I went and shared one, and I rarely share. Pizza to seriously consider when in Omaha and the go to pizza truck when faced with options at events. Square cut is still the right cut though. I'm not insane! read more

Just ate at Johnny Ricco's food truck, and it was delicious! There were three or four choices of pizza (with one choice being 1 ingredient you choose of three different toppings) and a few sub choices. I went with the Blake's White, which was three different types of cheeses and garlic. The cost of the slice was $6.25. Seemed a little steep for a slice of pizza, although the size of the slice was very large. Still, my only complaint would be price is a little high. A friend had the Brooklyn which was a Supreme of choices and she also enjoyed her slice. Another friend had one of the sausage subs and said it was delicious. They didn't have any vegetarian options but the owners were kind enough to give me their caprese pizza with mozzarella, pesto and fresh tomatoes - SO DELICIOUS. This is hands down the best in town. If you haven't tried it, you need to, because its the bomb. Everything I have had is amazing, and you get your moneys worth too. The slices are enormous and packed with toppings. These guys kick the crap out of Le Crappa who also comes to my work. Today Eric(Ricco) introduced a calzone which is one of my favorites. While at JunkStock we visited their food truck. Ordered 1 slice of sausage pizza. Waited 25 minutes while they called out order after order of slices for customers then people who ordered after me started getting their slices so I asked and they told me they didn't have any sausage. They didn't apologize or offer a refund so I said well I'll just take whatever slice you have ready which was a slice of hamburger pizza. It was the worst slice of pizza I have ever had. The crust was tasteless and soggy, the sauce was not good and the cheese was almost black from being overlooked. Standing around the food truck eating you could hear customer after customer disappointed in their purchase talking about how bad the pizza was. They were swamped and you all know how crazy JunkStock gets but businesses should be prepared for that and still be able to offer friendly, timely, and quality service.
