I typically go to Johnny's right after they open before noon to get lunch. They have a very large menu for what they are. I prefer the Gyro. It's a very good sandwich for not being a Mediterranean restaurant. It's tasty, and fresh, made to my liking. The help is always pleasant and helpful. Hailey is terrible at bartending we had to wait for her to get us our drink but instead she would chat at her friends for about 10 to 15 minute wait another minutes to make for her customer's drinks. Had been here recently and it was good so I took a friend today. Service was awful, it was $1 beer Monday and was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon, but we ordered food (a little more $$ than a $1 beer). Bartender was put out at any request, like adding to our our and GOD FORBID asking for ketchup. Service person/cook (?) was just not good at service, walked past our table several times before we could ask for a box - had to go to the bar for a refill on tea - food was good, but not spectacular enough to over shadow the snarky remarks from the bartender. Finally bartender told us to come up to the bar to get our bill and pay, 2 iced teas with burgers was about $40. Not sure if we'll ever go back it was such a disappointment. read more

Nightlife is seedy and with obnoxious patrons. Used to be a great place for a good cold brew and burger . . .now, not so much.

We are local but have not been here for four years. Bartender ignored us for over 10 minutes and bar not that busy for ignoring customers. Ordered bacon cheese burger which use to be signature "Johnnys" food but it tasted like grill and only had sauce on one side of bun. Other person in our group of three had French dip and it was overcooked grilled deli meat and tasted like dirty grill. We will not be going back unless they go back in time to quality food and polite servers. Those were the days when Johnny really owned the bar. read more

Local? Fresh? Great staff? Great company? YES YES AND YES! Johnny's is a favorite local bar in St. Helens! The best burgers, by far - They're huge, juicy and fair priced. DEFINITELY STOP BY Y'ALL! The atmosphere/decor/vibe: It's dark, yet inviting! It's small, but spacious! It's definitely a great local spot with welcoming & gracious regulars. They have pool, gambling machines, and TVs all around! The food: To be honest I have only had the same bacon cheeseburger with fries every time I come here, reason why? It's THAT good! I crave it every time, I just can't get anything else, it's too good! I have had their tater tots & onion rings - also very delicious & in large sizes which is always great. The Service: Scott is by far my favorite bar tender & cook! He basically runs this place. He's always fun to joke with & talk to - be sure you go visit him on Monday's when they have cheap beer ALL day! The girls there are also all fantastic, love the staff. We came and met up with Crystal G this evening as she was in town in St. Helens for the weekend. As we entered this bar you can clearly see that the crowd was definitely in their 20-30's. I walked up to the bar and even though being fairly crowded I did not wait long for my drinks. I had the desire to order food at some point and the bartender gave me a menu to look at. The best part was that she even walked up to our table being the only person there and asked us what we wanted rather than having to walk up to the bar to order. Even though its a small town bar this place is definitely happening. Bartender was very friendly as well as the locals. What I enjoyed most is being a minority and not feeling any tension from the regulars is definitely a plus. Looks like we found another place to hangout when Crystal and Neda are in town! We've always have had a great experience at Johnny's, food is great, bartenders are always awesome but the last time we went we encountered the most disrespectful worker named Jen. To start off we asked Jen when we were finished if we would get the bill brought to the table or if we should go up to the bar and ask for it. She told us to "just be patient" and stormed off. We thought it was a bit rude but chalked it up to her being busier than she can handle. After that encounter, the table next to us asked if she was being rude to which we responded yes. They explained to us how rude and disrespectful she was being to them. Honestly, with this frantic lady being rude as hell we were ready to leave and asked Jen for a box because the other bartender had left for a moment. She told us to "just yell into the kitchen for one" the cook (as he should because he's not a bartender) told us to "get whatever you want" obviously not being comfortable with walking in the kitchen went back to Jen and asked for her to get us one again. To which she responded "Are you fucking kidding me" then continued to tell me "that she was just joking" when she clearly was agitated and cussing at me. I asked her again if she could go get me a box. She stormed off and came back with one and basically threw it at me. Y'all should fire her, you're definitely going to lose customers because of her. read more

What a great surprise. We sat in the parking lot looking for reviews on the food and there wasn't much to read. We were just about to drive off because it looks like and old, icky tavern from the outside when my husband rolled down his window and actually engaged a thirtysomething dude asking if he food was good. He said it was solid burgers and bar food. That was good enough for us to try it at least the first time. We went inside to a small crowd on a Sun night. The place is a bar, but a clean one that was well lit so that made me feel OK to order food (decor dated but bathrooms were spotless). It was great! The burger was juicy, well put together and came out screaming hot and nestled among a huge pile of tater tots that were also good and cooked crispy and yummy. I had the Ruben, I tend to prefer turkey Rubens but this place has an interesting twist, both turkey and corned beef, with 3 layers, clubhouse style. Never had one this way and hope to always have it this way from now on. The the two meats compliment each other so well and the third slice of bread helped the sandwich stay less soggy as Rubens tend to get sometimes when the sour kraut is not drained well. Grilled to perfection and assembled with care this was a GREAT SANDWICH that I had to smack my hubby away to keep him from eating it. Fries were hot and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I can't believe Saint Helener's don't make this a burger/sandwich destination with so few options around here. It's a pity that Oregonians don't allow minors to eat in bars like in Arizona, before midnight or in certain areas, because this would make a great burger joint for St. Helens. No reason to drive all the way to Hillsboro for Red Robin. Enjoy! Service as great and some guy kept buying rounds for the house, I thought that was only in movies. What a treat! Checked out Johnny's this past Friday...Friendly service, pretty good atmosphere (kind of...see below) but burger was just ok. Overcooked and not much flavor. We came to watch the Duck game and they didn't have the sound on so we got to listen to the drunk blowhard sitting behind us. But hey it's a bar right? I like my Maker's on the rocks and they give a generous pour for sure. Their fries are great. My honey asked for tater tots but they gave him fries. We will give it another try and hopefully they don't overcook the burger. The server was awesome! She took good care of us even though she was super swamped. read more
