    Banana Pudding

The BBQ served at Johnny's has that distinctive vinegar-based flavor (enhanced with a little sugar and red pepper). Service is cafeteria style, so it's fast - and you get to see what you are ordering. Seating is comfortable and spacious, and the staff super friendly and helpful. On our first visit we tried the Barbecue and Stew Combo ($10.99) and Fried Shrimp Friday Special (Small $12.49 / Large $13.99). Both included two sides and choice of Hushpuppies, Corn Sticks or Bun. The Hushpuppies were perfectly seasoned - crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The Corn Sticks were a little dry - but tasty. Portions were generous, and the BBQ was excellent; but the Brunswick Stew was not good. It was watery and had a disagreeable flavor. The Potato Salad was simple, but satisfying. The Cole Slaw was some of the best we have eaten. It was just tangy enough to make it a perfect companion for the BBQ. Because the Shrimp were small, there were about equal amounts of Shrimp and Breading. The Breading itself was well seasoned and not too heavy; so, on balance, an enjoyable dish that we would order again. We also sampled two Wednesday Specials (both included two sides and choice of Hushpuppies, Corn Sticks or Bun). The Baby Back Ribs (one rack $11.99 / two racks $14.99) were mostly tender and juicy, except for the end ribs (which were dry and chewy). The BBQ flavor was just right. We will definitely be ordering Baby Backs again. The Chicken Pastry (small plate $9.99 / large plate $10.49) left a lot to be desired. The old-fashioned dumplings were great, but I had to search for the few bits of chicken. I do not recommend this dish. Johnny's offers a nice assortment of traditional southern deserts (all priced at $3.99). We tried the Banana Pudding. This made-from-scratch concoction was sweet, smooth, creamy, bananary and verging on decadent - a definite winner. Sweet Tea, is available for $1.99 (small glass), $2.49 (large glass) and $5.99 (gallon). Our large glass came with unlimited refills. If you want to try the Baby Back Ribs, you will have to visit Johnny's on Wednesdays after 3:00 PM. Smoked Brisket (which we have not tasted) is available only on Thursdays after 3:00 PM ($12.99 for a small plate / $15.99 for a large plate / $5.99 for a sandwich).

Get the chicken!!!!! Came for the bbq , stayed for the fried chicken. First time at this location on a Wednesday evening while visiting the area with the idea of eating good bbq. The do have a fast food type service, nothing is made to order and the also have a drive thru. Good home style ambiance I ordered a bbq ribs with Mac and cheese and potato salad which was the special of the day. Chicken tenders with fries. Fried chicken with fries. Everything come with hush puppies and we also had a order or some type of corn sticks. The bbq ribs in my opinion weren't good at all and they were cold. Mac and cheese was box Mac and súper under seasoned. Potato salad and fries were ok. Corn sticks were dry. Hush puppies were weirdly shape , but really yummy! Fried chicken and tenders were absolutely delicious!!! Super seasoned and left me wanting to go back for more. One of the BEST fried chicken I've ever had! Come for the fried chicken and you won't be disappointed! I would definitely be back if I'm in the area for that chicken!

Chopped bbq, green beans, cabbage and hush puppies

OK bbq in a local Louisburg spot. During COVID, operating as drive-thru only. Orders taken in-person on one side, pay/pickup at the window on the other side. On this Saturday afternoon, chose a pair of large plates, plus a family meal to take home. The plates include one meat plus 2 veggies and 1 bread. The whole hog chopped bbq was very good, served sauced with a NC-style vinegar-based bbq sauce. The chopped pork was piping hot, moist, tender with just the right amount of sauce to enhance the meat without overpowering it. Didn't need more sauce - was done right. Portions generous. Tried the slaw, green beans, mac n'cheese and cabbage, plus hush puppies and corn sticks. Cabbage was excellent. Pan fried then simmered, nice and sweet, buttery and the perfect done-ness. Green beans had the right texture and done-ness but were bland. Needed an onion and some fat back simmered in there to complete the taste. Slaw is creamy and sweet, mac n' cheese gooey and cheesy but the pasta is mushy. Disappointed in the sides. The fried chicken to take home was OK. Nice sized chicken pieces, breaded and fried crispy golden brown. The chicken is also sort of bland - no spices discerned in the breading. This has the potential to be great, but needs to be kicked up some. Overall, just OK.

First of all, the food was delicious. I got the barbecue sandwich meal. The service was great and I was able to get in and out very quickly. Also - the bathroom was spotless. My new favorite barbecue place.

Stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful meal. I had the small bbq plate w slaw, Mac and cheese, and hush puppies. My co worker had the Wednesday Chicken Pastry special with cabbage and corn sticks. We both really enjoyed our meal and will most certainly be back. They were steady busy throughout lunch service and the owner and manager walked around making sure everyone had full drinks and what they needed. Great atmosphere, can't wait to come back

Get used to this sight if you come here. For some reason they only have drive through, and it literally takes forever.

I've seen the signs for Johnny's BBQ a lot when I'm driving up to that area so I figured at lunch time I'd give this place a try. I was frustrated when I pulled in and realized they're dining room isn't open. I asked an employee why and she said it's because they're short staffed, which I think is a complete cop out considering they don't have wait staff at this place. Anyway I waited through the very long drive-thru line and ordered a barbecue plate with mac and cheese and coleslaw. I started with the coleslaw, it wasn't bad but they seem to put chunks of pickle in it which I've never seen before. Actually it was the best part of the whole meal. I had asked the lady when I ordered if the mac and cheese was homemade baked mac and cheese, she said it was homemade, well obviously it's not baked, and I question that it's even homemade as it tastes almost exactly like Velveeta mac and cheese. The worst part of the whole meal was the barbecue itself. I have never tasted barbecue so disgusting in my entire life! It had zero smoke flavor, had a weird dry texture to it, and the vinegar sauce they use is not good at all. Also left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth and I was burping it up the rest of the day. Most of the meal, except for the Cole slaw, went into the trash. Never again!

Good place. Fried fish was tasty and crunchy. Good field peas and cabbage. Brunswick stew was sweet, I found that strange. Hush puppies were good and crunchy, also a little sweet. Fried chicken was good, but not the best.

Every time I come to Louisburg this is a must visit. I love the BBQ and the desserts. My wife loves to come on Fridays for the fish specials. Always a great atmosphere as well!!

The only concession made to frilly decor is the artificial yellow Marigold that crowns the paper towel holders on each table. The menu includes: Burgers and Sandwiches, Soups and Salads, Appetizers and Speciality Plates. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Be sure to check out the Daily Lunch Specials. The only thing missing is a cold beer. The Thursday Special, 1/2 Pound Riblets, is exceptionally good. While the meat does not exactly fall off the bone and takes a little work, there is plenty of it and it's surprisingly tender. The BBQ sauce is a nice balance of sweet, heat and spice. The hand cut Fries are best when smothered in the self-serve Cheesy Sauce. Another special, Chop Steak with Onions & Peppers is another winner. It's more like a cube steak than a hamburger steak and has a distinct chargrill flavor. Remington's Cole Slaw is some of the best I have tried. The cabbage is fine-diced with a hint of sweetness and refreshingly crisp. The BBQ Plate is OK, but not the reason I go to Remingtons. The pulled pig is rather bland and lacks that unique Eastern NC BBQ tang. We particularly like the Geronimo Burger. This double patty monster weighs in at a substantial 1/2 pound with just the right amount of zesty Chili and sweet Cole Slaw. All burgers come on a large, soft but chewy, slightly sweet bun. The Buffalo Wings were meaty and tender enough, but the Teriyaki Glaze just didn't taste right (next visit I'll try the BBQ). I did like the BBQ Beans - slightly sweet and slightly tangy - a nice combination. Be sure to ask for the 10% Senior Citizen's or Veteran's Discount.

The establishment is comfortable and casual, somewhat bare bones. The biggest thing I noticed was the front of the restaurant is very smoky, my eyes were watering. The cook area is right in front of you when you wait for your order, so the smoke is kind of billowing out. The employees were very friendly. Parking lot is pretty small, location is right off S Bickett. On to the food - my cheesesteak was pretty good. Sweet potato fries were undercooked. Baked beans were different than I'm used to, pretty spicy and had large onion slices. Burger was good, coleslaw good, onion rings not good. We'd order food from here again but might choose different items.

Rolando explains the concept, which is to take older PH stores and remodel them with retro style decor - the following elements are taken from his article (online here at https://rolandopujol.substack.com/p/the-retrologists-guide-to-pizza-hut) 1. The old logo is used in pole signage as well as at the top of the (usually but not always) red-roofed restaurant. The pole sign features the addition of the word "Classic." 2. The interior features cozy red booths and old-school Pizza Hut lamps. 3. Stickers featuring the long-discarded character Pizza Hut Pete are found on the door. 4. Posters feature classic photos from Pizza Huts of yore. 5. A plaque displays a quote from Pizza Hut co-founder Dan Carney, explaining the concept as a celebration of the brand's heritage. We found out there is a PHC in Louisburg and decided to take a drive. The store was busy with carry-out orders when we arrived, and another dine-in customer explained that we should order at the counter. We ordered, and the server brought our order out in a few minutes when it was ready. We ordered a couple of Personal Pan Pizzas and cheesy garlic breadsticks, and everything was great. It's a Pizza Hut, so no real surprises. Food was good, store was clean, it reminded me of being ten years old. Not high-concept, not fancy, but a nice experience and I will make a point of trying to find a few other PHC stores to try in my travels.

I understand that our family bought meals at 8pm but come on! The pictures below say a thousand why's! I ordered a 2 piece chicken one breast and one leg, fries and water. Simple right? When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was a piece of chicken I couldn't recognize. Your chicken use to be big, plump and juicy. This breast must have fallen into the fryer twice. Super dry and the skin was too crunchy to eat. I might have received 12-15 fries and the biscuit was far from being buttery, light and fluffy. Dry and sitting out for too long. Look I get it. Late in the drive thru. I just wanna go home. I am totally grateful for the men and women who work on the front lines of customer service. But when you're paying $10-&13.00 a meal now at least care about what you're serving customers. I couldn't eat my meal and I don't think the raccoon that lives in my backyard would eat it. Please go back to when your chicken was big and tasted like no other fried chicken. Put better care into your food and service even if it's 8:00pm at night.
