Where do I begin, such a cool find! Located on Cass Ave; the West Side of the Street , in Westmont. It's very unique to find a Live Music Venue in Westmont. Free street parking. Beautiful designed bar and very charming. $8 a drink, less for Domestic Beers. Live Venue, Open Mic Nights. They even have 4 Burgers! something cool, this street shuts down certain days over summer and it's a open Car Show! That's very unique and charming! What a wonderful find here. Went to Johnny Blitz in Westmont for the first time with some friends to see a very popular band Mike Wheeler from Chicago. They have played before at Buddy Guys, Kingston Mines etc. we had such a great time. They were fantastic as usual. But also a pleasant surprise was their food. They have a spectacular Burger. Outstanding evening of live blues entertainment. This neighborhood bar in Westmont far exceeded our expectations. Right when we entered, a gentleman ushered us to four seats right in front of the band. He took our drink orders and was very fast to keep them replenished. It was busy here for the live music and we were impressed how good the customer service was. They have a QR code on the table to scan for the menu. They have food but we were just there for music and drinks. Mostly bar food consisting of nachos, wings, chips and salsa, burgers, fries etc. I was impressed to see there is an Impossible vegetarian burger on the menu. Our total for four people for drinks and cover charges was about $200 but we were there for hours. $10 cover for the Friday music. Open mic jam Mondays and Thursdays. Trivia night Wednesdays. Fridays and Saturdays live blues. We were fortunate to see The Neighbor Band playing, and they changed out the drummer and guitarists occasionally. Great variety of songs. My husband and friends loved it. Very glad we got to experience this local joint. read more

This is by far the best live music bar in the western suburbs, and probably my favorite blues bar I've been to, including those in Chicago proper. It's clear that Johnny, the owner, loves blues music and building a community of blues enthusiasts. The people in this place are truly some of the nicest around, and the customer service is top notch. The bar menu is quite varied and includes a number of non alcoholic and low alcoholic drinks. By far my favorite establishment in the western suburbs. Johnny's Blitz has live blues music on weekend evenings along with trivia and other events throughout the week. They book incredible musicians for a minimal cover charge that would be triple the price at any other venue considering who plays here. The owner, John, and his staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive, you can tell there is a a real passion for keeping the blues alive from everyone here. Service is always fast and I never have to worry about waiting on a drink. I have yet to have any food but from what I've seen it looks delicious so I'll definitely have to check out their menu next time. Johnny's Blitz is on par with some of the great blue bars in Chicago so this is well worth a trip read more

But looking at others looks like pub food you'd expect. got charged $10 cover and at first thought I was ripped off as some dude was singing honkeytonk woman like it was an open mic. Then a Ms. DD and her piano/sax dude came up and they were great. Pros you'd expect from cover blues bar. wasn't crowded for a Saturday but the sound was NOT too loud which is rare for blues... Wow! The food here is great. I didn't expect anything special when I looked over the menu but when the food arrived...wow, I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered their chicken sandwich and added feta, avocado, and mushrooms. The chicken was super tasty with great flavor and some heat, the feta was a huge chunk of deliciousness, and the veggies were perfectly seasoned too. The portions were huge, the fries were jumbo wedges with course salt, and my whole family reacted to their burgers and wings the same way I did to my chicken! Really really good. Went here Monday night for the first time, worst service in a long time!! Food was okay, but that was about it. They have happy hour specials, so we thought to give it a try. Worst service ever. They brought the food to the wrong table. We saw what was happening and asked if it was our order, said no. They let it sit until cold, then 10 minutes later took it off that table and brought it to us like nothing happened. We watched the whole thing. We immediately returned the food, explained it had been 10 minutes at the wrong table surrounded by a large group and getting cold, and asked to see the manager. The bartender assured us he'd be right over and "take care of it" w/o the manager. Then the manager comes over anyway, doesn't ask what happened, instead having the gall to accuse of lying, tell us the food came straight from the kitchen to our table. I told him "B.S. we watched the whole thing every step of the screwup." Twice more he insisted otherwise until I explained again w/o permitted him to interrupt. What an ^$$#@!÷. So they made new meals but gave me crappy frozen chicken nuggets instead of chicken wings, explaining, "We just ran out of chicken wings." Worst cock-up I've ever experienced. First and last time eating here! WTHF! (H=Holy). They never apologized! Just got worse from there, seldom came to our table, were surely when they did. Won't ever go here again. The best burger in Westmont! The best hot wings! The best beer selection within 4 mile radius! The best rock and roll playlist! Johnny must be double frying those wings because they are cris-py! The burger was huge. The sauce on the side gave it an excellent gourmet feel, and doubled as a tastey dipping sauce for the hand cut, thick, seasoned fries. Aside from our party of 2 + baby, there were 2 other date couples there. The bartender was pouring shots of fireball, and everyone was chillin. Definitely a good vibes type of place. Short & sweet: This new Cass ave staple kicks, and gives neighboring bars a run for their money, and does it with much more class. I am very glad I brought the family here to eat because the 1 page menu is spot on. We will be back, soon. There is NO Place classier around. Wonderful, large, juicy burgers. I could probably deem them as one of the best options around. The atmosphere is very cool and laid back. However, I felt like the service could use a little polishing. No greeting when you arrive and no one cares to notify you that it's self seating. Perhaps I overlooked a sign? I also noticed that there is already a strong following of regulars, or at least people that are friends of the employees/owners. Those of which get top notch service apon arrival. After living in this town for 35+ yrs and being in the restaurant business for over 15 yrs, I'm really not into the "making it bc of who we know" vibe. I think bonding with every walk of life, especially the newbies is more important. Otherwise I'm just left with a taste of unwelcome and unwanted. Here's to hoping it was just an unusual night... Just a follow up note because I used to like the nachos, but they have changed the chips and they are almost inedible. They are hard and gritty and seem to be of a very cheap quality. It's too bad because my family really liked the nachos. I just don't understand why squeezing an extra few pennies of profit per seeing is worth serving something that is basically inedible. I hope they go back to using a higher quality chip, and maybe even make them in house. So, for sacrificing quality for profit, I'm lowering them a star. read more

My fiancé and I came to Johnny Blitz for the cruise night. First and foremost I'd be remised if I didn't bring up the feeling that they were understaffed. However, the beer specials were good ($5 craft drafts) and the food, while limited is always well prepared and good. So no complaints on that end. I'm truly writing this review because despite being understaffed and busy; our server Brandon was lights out. Very friendly and as quick as he could be in he circumstances of the night. I can't commend Brandon enough and we'll definitely be back. We just hope that he's behind the bar that night as well! Cheers Westmont! read more
