I have a been seeing JohnPaul personally to cut, color and style my pixie cut for a while now. He originally chopped my 14+ inches off two years ago, and I have kept my short hair since then. Since first seeing him, I moved to Providence, RI - and I still make regular trips to the salon to see JohnPaul for my cuts. Finding a good short-hair stylist for women is HARD. I tried multiple salons, all over Providence - but realized that no one could hold a candle to JohnPaul. I like to see variety in my cuts, and I want a hairdresser who is willing to take some chances - I don't want to dictate EXACTLY what I want when I sit down in the chair. Further, I want a nice clean cut; I need the hair around my ears actually STYLED and I want a cut that grows out clean. JohnPaul's cuts deliver on all fronts. I chose this salon out of convenience (close to my office), and because of the reviews here. I'm super low-maintenance, and not really into elaborate cut/color/style haircuts. I've not made appointments with one stylist, as they are all top notch, and every haircut has been perfect. Every time I come here, I leave HAPPY! Again, out of convenience, I went somewhere else closer to home on a weekend, and left in tears. As soon as that awful cut grew out, I went back to Haley, and she fixed it in a jiffy. I called JohnPaul's three days before I was leaving town to get married. I was in a panic because my previous hairdresser, whom I had pre-paid and booked an appointment with, cancelled my appointment (with no explanation or apology)! I had not had my hair touched in four months, and was in desperate need of a highlight and trim. I called JohnPaul's after I read the positive reviews online. They were able to make a few calls, politely asked another client if she could come a few minutes later, and work me in! John Paul was open, friendly and obviously a master of his trade. I loved my entire experience from the front desk ladies to the atmosphere to the conversation with John Paul during my appointment. He even gave suggestions for places to visit while I am in town. The prices were comparable to what I pay in California for similar treatments and better than rates I pay in Las Vegas. About a year or so ago I was looking for a salon and came into John Paul's towards the end of the day after looking for a salon to do my hair. I went to a few others in Farmington that were so unfriendly, but John Paul's was welcoming and professional. I came in as a walk in and I'm a customer for as long as I'm here! Went here after work because I saw that it was right on Rt. 6 and they were able to squeeze me in that afternoon...Wow. It's definitely a little pricey compared to what I'm used to, but, as they say, you get what you pay for. I had my hair cut by Nina, and I was blown away by the level of care and communication, the effortlessness of our conversation, and especially the end result. No one had ever really given me the cut I've wanted, until I finally assumed it wasn't really possible. Turns out I just hadn't gone to JohnPaul's yet. While many people, particularly women, swear by this place, which is thought to be the creator of the famous West Hartford "Flip", the only time I made an appointment, they overbooked and let me go on my hairy way with not so much as a "sorry". I came in to the salon totally hopeless my roots were so grown I was wearing hats because I was so embarrassed . Morgan was my stylist , she was so great . She asked me what I had in mind for my hair and I told her I had no clue what to do and asked her what she thought . First she asked me to tell her what I liked about my current color and what I disliked . I was so happy I had never been asked that . I let her know that I loved the lightness but hated the maintenance . She agreed with liking the lightness on me especially because of spring and summer coming around . She gave me a beautiful toned gold brown color that I was very happy with for a really reasonable price . She also let me know I was due for a haircut but didn't push it on me or just start cutting like other places . She did a great job at making me feel welcomed .
