Apparently it's walk in only so I made an hour drive to get my cut, only to figure out that they do not close at 5:30 but instead at 5pm. I showed up at 5:09 and understand they don't want people coming in last second but it is misleading and annoying that no one could fit me in so they can leave by 5:30. Just say you close at 5! I don't write reviews usually and don't like to have a negative attitude towards people but I definitely won't be coming back and was annoyed by this whole experience. SMH read more

I divorced my wife10 years ago, the unfortunate thing about that divorce is she was a hairstylist and besides losing a house I lost my stylist. I have moved a few times since then and always start looking for a new replacement (barber). I am in the process of moving to the area and stopped by John's, the poor reviews are very old, go by the recent reviews. I got a great haircut at a reasonable price. I plan to go back next time and hope to add positive comments to the review. The clientele was mixed, seniors, youngsters, and new and repeat customers, Tuesday morning and they were busy. Walk-ins (Me included) didn't have much of a wait and with 4 barbers working they kept it moving along with a lot of homey conversation. Old school shop with a modern, clean layout. I wanted a "Men's Barber Shop" and many listed on Yelp were salons with prices in the $40 -$60 on the North side of town. I went to John's Barber Shop and had my hair cut, and goatee trimmed, by a charming barber named "Tang". The Senior haircut ran $17 and a beard trim was $11. I'm very picky when it comes to my hair and beard so choosing a barber has been very hard for me. I've tried the chain places, I've tried the cheap places, and I've tried most of the smaller barber shops in the area and I wish I would have found this place sooner. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I went to the place looking for a good old fashioned haircut and shave. The place was just like any other salon chains, just that the barbers were very old and so were the customers. They told me they stopped doing shaves long ago. Moreover, they also use machines to cut hair. So there was hardly any difference. Reg haircut is $16, I don't think it was worth it, because I can get the same machine haircut for $7 at supercuts. I really did enjoy the old school style here. I had a bad habit of going too long between haircuts because I really disliked the "salons" around Round Rock.I was surprised to learn this is the only certified barber shop in RR. I have been getting too frustrated going to shops where the staff changes out all too regularly and no two haircuts ever look the same. An older gent named Eddie cut my hair. He is there part time Thur-Sat and this was a throwback to the small town barber I grew up in. When he put the warm shaving cream on the back of my neck and broke out the straight razor to clean things up I could not help but to smile. I went to John's and had John cut my hair last week. I told him what I wanted and he cut my hair exactly as I asked. I bragged it up how a real barber shop was better than going elsewhere. Two days ago, I took my 11 year old for his haircut. The "barber" in the second chair cut his hair. I heard him tell the man that he wanted it a #3 clipper attachment shortness on the sides and out of his eyes and some off the top. He didn't get close to what he was asked to do, which I didn't see until we drove away. He will need a haircut next week the way this guy cut it. It was choppy with some short and some longer areas on the side, too. I will never go into John's and not use only John ...if I go back at all. SuperCuts or other "beauty salon" can do better than what my son got! read more

I've been coming to this barber shop for almost 10 years, since I was 11 or 12. And I wouldn't go to any other place. I've gone to other places for various reasons, but have always come back here. They do great work, especially flattops. But if you plan on coming here, come in early because in the afternoons and weekends the wait can get long. read more

This is the worse place in the world. Its's been a long time since i can here but finally got around to give them a review. I came in to get my haircut after being up all night at the hospital and as the barber (not john) was cutting i just rested my eyes- did not fall asleep. then when he asked me what did i think, i said very politely that i wanted a bit shorter. He then yelled at me (yes, raised his voice) saying that come in and i don't talk and just keep my eyes closed. i didn't know that it was a pre-requisite to make small talk at this place in order to be treated with respect. the technical part of the haircut was ok- nothing special. my hair is not hard to cut anyway. i will never be back here and would rather cut my own hair myself read more

Ron cut my sons hair and is very good with kids. Very friendly and lots of smiles. They DO NOT take debit/credit cards but there is an ATM at the Shell station within walking distance. As far as current barbers, I've had my hair cut by Roy, Vetta, John and Johnny. They have all done a great job. I like my hair very short on the sides but I have a cowlick on top so they have to leave it a little longer up there. They always manage to blend it just right. read more
