I just recently moved to the valley and was in much need of a new barber. I am grateful that I live in an era that has YELP. Without it I probably would have gone through several haircuts until I was able to find this hidden gem. They offer great haircuts for all ages and styles. The kind of haircut I get is typically a 2 on the top and 0 on the sides with a fade and lineup. The best part about this barber is that they finish your haircut with a clean razor finish, it's rare that barbers offer this and perform a great job at it. I haven't been here during a rush hour yet, cause both times I've been there weren't other customers waiting. I consider myself very lucky, cause I do see others schedule appointments for their haircuts. Both visits I've had so far I was able to walk right in, and sit down, but as I'm getting my hair cut I start to see traffic pouring in. While getting your haircut they have one TV and thanks to their numerous mirrors no matter what angle you're, you'll be able to still enjoy some TV entertainment the entire duration of yoru haircut. But then again the barbers here are really friendly so you might not even have time to watch since it's very easy to strike up conversation with all the barbers. I definitely recommend this place if you're tired of searching around town and just want to find a good barber at a great price. The twp visits I've had so far, Carlos was the barber who gave me a haircut. Both times he has done a great job, and from what I've seen the other barbers are great barbers as well. The plaza the barbershop is located in is busy no matter the time of day, so parking may take a minute. But the wait and effort to search for a parking spot is well worth it, cause you don't want to drive anywhere else for a haircut. read more

Slooooooooowwww. Came here on a lunch break, called ahead, they said to just walk in. I assumed he meant 15 min or something. Ended up waiting 45 minutes before being told I was in line for a barber that had just spent an hour doing someone else's haircut, and I had to walk out. John was apparently done for the day and couldn't help me out. Again I called ahead and he told me to walk in. May be good if you have two hours to spare, or if you make an appointment, but I did not. Seeing I need a new barber (again) the last barber I went to really did a bad job. I only went a few times because my original barber was no longer cutting hair. The 2nd barber shop, which is in Burbank got me running scared because of the last hair cut I got. The barber gave me a military hair cut which I didn't want. I told the barber how I wanted my hair cut and he took over an hour and still got it wrong. Now I went to Johns barbershop and this is going to be my 3rd barbershop and I was praying to god that they are like what my first barbershop was like. But johns barbershop wasn't, johns barbershop is BETTER!! WAY BETTER!! I always ask myself where they when I needed them? But I'm glad I found them! I let the barber know how my hair is usually and right from the start I started to feel good about the choice I made about getting my hair cut. It sucks how they had to move due to a selfish landlord but I'm glad they are within a 20 minute drive from where I am. My hair cut is perfect and better than I expected! Any barber can cut hair in the shop and I'm happy that if I tell any barber what I want they can get it right. This is my new barbershop and I hope none of them go away. John is a master at what he does best....give a fresh cut! I've been getting cut for a few months now at John's shop. The place is very welcoming and they just upgraded the place a bit too. I'm a salsa performer which means photographers are always snapping pictures of me. Hence, I always need to keep my hair fresh. I've been looking around for a new barber and ended up trying John. Let me just say I have my new go to guy. He does clean fades, great apart, and uses straight edge razors on line ups. Never had a bad haircut from him and consistency is key! I've been coming to Johns for many years now and he's always left me feeling confident in the cut I've gotten. I do suggest you call and make an appointment as the shop gets really busy - unfortunately a lot of new customers and even old customers forget this and throw a fit. The appointments are there to make sure the barbers give you the amount of attention needed to ensure your cut is how you want it to be. Make sure you bring cash as they don't accept plastic ( but there is an ATM at the bank a few doors away - keep in mind they charge a fee ). John comes from a barber family and has been cutting hair all his life so you can come in with ease knowing that his skill set is high. Unfortunately you can't please everybody as we all know - but I've never been at the shop and seen them turn anybody down or be rude to anybody, if anything they'll try to squeeze you in or put you in the book for a set time. It was months ago we were here, but hey, what's Yelp for? The real highs and the real lows. Don't believe all the review hype, this is a real low! I found this place through Yelp with all the rave reviews about Jerry and told my boyfriend to try him. It turns out that JERRY is telling every customer to put a good review on yelp and isn't nice when you don't. So first the funny part; whenever he was buzzing and wanted to change angles, he'd nudge my bf's head! Sort of violently enough that the first time he did it my bf's reaction made me want to burst out in laughter. LOL I've never seen that before, and my bf didn't even know how to react. But Jerry's a big guy, maybe he isn't able to move around so easily, so I don't think that part is necessarily bad, just annoying for my boyfriend, yet wonderful for me to observe. So it's not necessarily the technique that is terrible here, it's the customer service. So my boyfriend sat in the chair for about 15-20 minutes. Jerry told one guy who had an appointment to go home because he was five minutes late (my bf was a walk in and Jerry just took him). He also told (not asks) my boyfriend he needs to shower before coming in the next time because he won't cut it next time if there's product in it. I've never heard such an entitled request. Are you really that important?!? After the haircut is over, another guy comes in and Jerry coldly tells him he didn't see a review on Yelp from him yet. So the guy stands there not knowing what to do. Jerry says "I'll be back." We both hypothesized that he was going on a break. LOL!! Also, the older guy who owns the shop heard all this and doesn't bat an eye. That's two people rudely rejected by the same guy in the 30 or so minutes we were there. Oh yeah, Jerry told us "review me on Yelp" in a half intimidating tone. Well Jerry, here ya go! Seriously if this guy cut hair amazingly well and my boyfriend walked out looking like Ryan Reynolds ( ;p babe) we MIGHT be able to overlook the Soup-Nazi power trip, but no... It was an average cut, if not a little rushed. Customer service and general decency are SO important to us. We don't want to go somewhere where paying customers are treated like they don't have other options. You're not the only barber in town. They're all just a Yelp page away. read more

I went asked for a fade the guy cut my hair the way he pleased I respectfully asked him to let me see his progress but he refused and said he knew what he was doing. I trusted him but as he continued to cut it wasn't looking any good. I'm usually not picky at all with hair cuts I know my hair grows back super quick. So I've been to this place a few times and I can't say that they will give you a bad haircut but also they wont give you a great one. It's a decent cut, I would love to say you get what you pay for but I'm not sure how much a cut costs here. I've been charged $15, $20, $17, and $18. Today was the worst experience I've had there. I didn't make an appointment because I've never waited longer than 30 minutes. I planned out all my errands and my cut before I go to a work event. I sat that for just under an hour and a half waiting for a cut. It wasn't because they were packed either, they were showing each other photos in their phones and just plain stopping their work to be apart of conversations. I know shops are all about socializing but we're all here for a reason too. The last half hour was spent with me being next in line and only one other guy right behind me. That's due to a guy that just walked in that seemed to be an old customer that they haven't seen in a while and got seated right away. It really didn't seem as if he had an appointment based on how surprised one of the barbers was to see him. My main problem was that a couple of the barbers decided to go on break. I get that everyone deserves a break especially them since they're on their feet all day but with the amount of time these last two customers have been waiting and also the fact that it's Friday, probably one of the busier days I would have assumed they would have knocked out the cuts. But no, I sat there for 15 minutes with only two barbers working. My time I allotted for a hair cut was up and it didn't look like any of the barbers were ready to take on a new customer also I knew if I was to sit in a chair at that moment I would have been there another half hour. I now have to attend my important work event all shaggy because I thought I could rely on this shop. 2 stars because I've never received a bad cut, just poor service. read more

Excellent customer service from Dani & Mario and I saw Mario cutting a young mans hair and he did an excellent job as well! This barbershop is definitely is in the CUT, but they definitely can CUT! I highly recommend this place to all the newbies in the area, the old ones too. They have an activity table for the kids too! SWEET!!! First time coming here and definitely the last. I payed $20 for just a line up. Got lined up by a young guy with a hat on and a tat behind his ear. I should have payed attention when the barber kept touching up the front but atm i didnt think nothing of it. I just assumed he was a perfectionist. I Left feeling fresh and not in the slightest upset about the cut, even tho i felt like $20 is a bit excessive just for a line up when i could of just gotten a taper but i was like whatever about it. The next day i wake up only to realize how bad the barber cut me up. Bright red marks all around my line up. And its strange because atm i didnt feel like i was getting cut up but now i have to walk around with all these cuts that will probably scar. I regret venturing out to this barber shop and wish i wouldn't have wasted my time and money. All this stress over a simple line up.. i can only imagine if i got a full cut.. it should be like barber 101 on how not to cut up your clients but whatever. I asked for a shave. He said it'd be a little more which I expected. The man was struggling with a shave. He actually cut me with the razor. I just wanted to leave. After 20 mins of him trying to trim a beard he told me it was $35. How does a shave cost more than a hair cut. 15 for a cut and 20 for a shave, and he cut me! I regularly come down the Valley from Valencia to visit my mother in law. I was in need of a haircut and came across John's Barbershop on Yelp. John and the rest of the guys seem chill and really connected with customers. I'm skeptical about going to any shop because you never know what you'll get...I got what I asked for without problems. I went in and told John I wanted a low fade, and a low fade I got. Price is reasonable at $15 bucks. The shop is has a new location and parking is plenty there. Overall a good experience and I will definitely make John's Barber Shop my to go shop in the valley...shoot, I might just make it my overall to go shop. John and tony were every welcoming and had us sit and let us know it wouldn't be to long . Then when the 2 barbers came back from Lunch they got started in us right away . My barber Cesar was chill asked what kind of cut I wanted and made some suggestions. He actually took the time to cut my hair and really work on his final outcome. I have to say it was more about the hair cut being right then just speeding through. My partner also got a cut and it came out real nice . The shop used to be tailored more to older gentleman, but since they got Martin I'm a hug fan for sure. His skills with fades, line ups and other modern styles is top notch. He takes his time to make sure every haircut meets his expectations which I love. I used to go to Castaic to get this kind of service, but now I have a comparable option in Simi that I can get down at lunch. I would give 6 stars if I could. I started going to John's Barbershop many years ago. Now, since a couple of years back, I always have to book two spots, since now I go with my son who is five. It has become a tradition for us, and I plan to keep it going for many years to come. John is a very talented Barber like not too many left, but he loves to teach younger barbers how to be become a good barber. He is very friendly, and the service is excellent. Once you go to John's, you will not need to go nowhere else. You can watch satellite TV, or listen to one of John's many interesting stories.
