Just had one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a while. I stopped by on my way home because I was craving BBQ. I've been here a few times before, mainly for the sides, but after this experience I honestly don't know if I'll return. I ordered a lunch chicken plate and was never told it would take over 40 minutes. Had I known, I either wouldn't have ordered or would have asked for a refund much sooner. Meanwhile, customer after customer who ordered after me received their food before I did. When I finally got my order, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the delay. I asked if there was anything they could do for the inconvenience, and the only thing offered was a free slushy. I don't even drink soda. A side dish or something more thoughtful would have made more sense. To make matters worse, when I got home, the chicken portion was very small and the two sides were tiny about the size of dressing cups. Whatever you do don't order from this place ONLINE! I had ordered from Robert Earl"s earlier and got ribs with baked beans. They were out of Mac and cheese so I thought I would get Mac and cheese from Johnson's on my way home. I called them to ask if they took online orders and explained to the guy who answered that I had an electronic debit card as to explain why I asked . He said yes I could order online or over the phone . In the interim he gave the phone to some woman who kept me on hold so long that by the time she got back on the phone I had already ordered online. She confirmed my order but after hanging up I noticed the online app they use predicted a ridiculous amount of time to prepare the order (45 minutes). I was only 5 minutes away but stationary. So I called back and asked the lady how long it would take she said 15 minutes, I gave them 20 . When I got there and explained that I ordered online. Not only did I learn that the order wasn't ready but the guy at the window had the audacity to say if I had placed a phone order it would have been 15 minutes but otherwise they go by the app's time. And what his staff person told me when I called "was In error". How stupid is that? The whole premise of fast food is that it's fast. Secondly, you are willing to put online customers on the back burner based on an apps time and not real time? I looked at this man as if to say'Is that your final answer?" I don't see a line out here? Bruh it's your business, stand on it, I'm going to be about mine's. 4++ Feels like one of those old school neighborhood BBQ spots that has been around for a long time. The people here are friendly and helpful and the prices weee reasonable especially considering how expensive BBQ is these days. The structure itself feels like kind of an old timey shack. To my knowledge, it didn't look like there was any seating available so it's more of Just a takeout place. The menu is pretty straightforward with your barbecue classics like ribs, brisket, and tri tip, etc. and classic sides. I was in the mood for some saucy barbecue so I got an order of the ribs lunch. For my sides I got the mac & cheese as well as the collard greens. I thought the sides were well seasoned without being overly salty. The ribs were also prepared really well as they had a nice bite to them, but they fell off the bone pretty easy. The sauce had a great flavor to it. BBQ was ok but not in the same park as robert earls. I got the three-meat combo with links, ribs and tri trip. Sides i got mac and cheese with beans and a side of potato salad which were good. The prices are great for what you get here. There is no inside seating, just pick up. I must admit the ribs were pretty dry. The sausage was ok and tri tip below average. I wish they had the brisket because that's what i really wanted over the tri-tip. I think overall its ok but too many other good BBQ places in LA IMO. Not good enough to make me come back. 02/02/23 - Thursday My last week working in Compton and I definitely wanted to try out more local eats. This place did not disappoint. First timer here. **Service** - I only have a 30 minutes lunch break but I always hold back from calling in an order at a new spot to check out the menu in person and just to see realistically, the turn around time from ordering to getting my food. I want to kick myself for forgetting to take a picture of the current menu (sorry). I received great customer service from the first lady that took my order to the second one that handed me my food. My order was ready in 10ish minutes which was great. **Food** - I originally went there for brisket but it wasn't available and ended up ordering tri-tip. I tend not to order tri-tip at any BBQ joint because it's always dry and borderline tasting like jerky. That was not the case here. The meat was nice and tender with a nice subtle smoky flavor. My preference would be a little less cooked but I'd eat this again. I ordered the tri-tip lunch which came with a choice of 2 sides and 3 slices of bread. I had a good amount of tri-tip, about 7-8 slices and they were about 0.25" slices. They give you a choice of mild, spicy, or mixed BBQ sauce. I can't take super hot levels anymore but I wanted the little kick. I got the mixed one, loved it. Would definitely get that again. I killed my 2 sides, I even dipped my sandwich in the liquid of the greens. The Mac & Cheese wasn't bland nor were the noodles overcooked. Win-win The greens were well seasoned and I wanted more. Regret not ordering a big side of it. One pet peeve I have about BBQ joints is the sliced bread. I don't know how many times I've eatened at BBQ joints and the bread is stale. I'm Samoan and I'm all about some steam rice but I was so happy that the bread here wasn't stale. Thank you! But for real though, I think I'm going to bring my own side of steam rice. Just placed an order via Door Dash...to our dismay we received a call to advise that they had nothing that we ordered available BUT they could replace rip tips/sliced beef lunch with ribs lunches. This was my time ordering from this bbq stand. I ordered a full slab of pork ribs, greens, mac n' cheese and lemon cupcakes. The ribs were flavorful and tender with just the right amount of sauce. While the greens had a bit more black pepper for my taste, their texture was perfect. The mac 'n cheese was delicious and you could tell that the lemon cupcakes were homemade with love.
