This review is NOT about the Yellow Cab as a company, but specifically about one of its driver: Tim…read moreor ..Tim the Cabbie. I just moved to KC from NYC, so although known & expected, it still shocked me at first that it was so difficult here to find (1) any taxis roaming around on the streets -- unless you're in some very specific areas, i.e. the Plaza and some selected, few others.... (2) ... and the fact that the Metro (in this case, buses) routes are not as spread out as the city is. Also, I'm having this badly-sprained ankle so mobility has been a real challenge for me in this very-car-friendly city (pour moi: no walking or driving for now :-) This.... until I met this really great taxi driver from the Yellow Cab Company, Tim. I don't know his last name, but anyway, he wants to be called simply as Tim the Cabbie. He's very polite (which is a rare quality, even for NYC cabbies), poised and knows a lot about Kansas City. So for such a KC novice as I am, it is a total treat to have a taxi driver who can also guide me to what's what around the city. He's also very friendly without being overbearingly talkative, very helpful, attentive and... he's just great. It's been so great that I decided to write this review and hope that anyone out there who needs a good, reliable, safe taxi driver will contact him and that he will get more clients!! Today, I asked him whether it's fine for me to "promote" him to the world and he said yes, so here goes his cell #: 913-980-1394. I hope my review is helpful for you guys and that you will have the same great experience as well !! Happy cabbing..

Saturday, 05/30/2026, I called KC Yellow Cab and told them I was catching a train Sunday morning…read moreand would like to book a taxi to pick me up at 6:00am at my home in Waldo and take me to Union Station. They took my information and said that a driver would be dispatched to be at my house for the trip. At 6:15, no taxi came, no one called and I called Yellow Cab and talked to a robot "the next available driver would be sent". At 6:30, no call, no taxi, I called and demanded to talk to a human who just like the robot said the "next available driver would be sent" With the train scheduled to leave at 7:13am, my wife trying to load the uber app and schedule a ride, I panicked and we took our car where it would stay in the "Amtrak" parking lot for a week at $24 per day. I received calls from 2 drivers as I was driving to Union Station, both had just received an assignment to pick me up at home but neither was at my house when they called. I don't like the gig economy but I won't call Yellow Cab in Kansas City again.
