What better way to learn about the Dairy's State's dairy industry than visiting a real diary farm and witness it's moo-vie stars (yes, there is a short movie and it actually is very educational and entertaining) in action. We got to watch a calf be born onsite that morning, then learn how agriculture brings food to our tables through well designed,interactive exhibits and then enjoy some tasty food at the onsite cafe (great cheese curd fries and burgers). As a bonus, there was a fun corn maze to grab a beer or a canned brandy old fashioned and get lost in. Our family had a good time. We spent about 4 hours there so well worth the admission price for the fun memories we had. Is it for everyone, maybe not but it is probably a good idea to learn about where your food comes from and how it impacts your community. Have fun and learn something useful. Win/win right there.

Thursday morning we went to your store and bought 2 Ribeye steaks to cook on the grill for dinner while we packed and got ready to depart on Friday. We were really excited to try them after seeing your business advertised all over the county. Unfortunately our excitement turned to disappointment. Our steaks were not of the quality we were expecting. They were tough and somewhat dry. The sweet potato was very good but that was not enough to justify the $55 we spent on 2 steaks and a sweet potato. My husband also ran back in and grabbed a $12.95 rub for the steaks. There's also little tractors and tricycles for the kids to ride, push mowers, rocking horses. Tons of spots for adults to sit while the kids play (in shade too). They also have a very cute out house with a nice potty AND changing table with a real sink which is such a nice touch for families. Staff was fantastic and the price is so reasonable for all you get. This store is the only store in Manitowoc that carries higher quality food for dogs and cats. They also carry feed for wild birds at a very reasonable price. We can actually afford to feed the birds lol. They do have workshops about different things relating to chickens, trees and lawns. A great selection of flowers every Spring.

Their plants are always fresh and grow well. Ever buy a six pack of broccoli plants that are so old that the heads never get bigger than a quarter? Not here, their plants are young and vigorous. Pet and agricultural supplies are also available. I am always tempted by the baby chicks, especially the Australorps. Our city allows us to have three chickens and/or a bee hive. We love fresh eggs; but what do two ovo-lacto vegetarians do with intelligent, affectionate chickens when they stop laying? Friendly, helpful people who are willing to give the tips you need to be a successful gardener. The only time they failed me was when I was looking for dolomitic limestone. Other than that, I believe this is the best place in the Manitowoc area to get your gardening supplies. Don't forget to pet the cat or the two dogs. They live for affection.

What makes this field more special than most is that the Bergsbaken family opens up to the community to share in the beauty of the blooming sunflowers. They create trails to walk through the field and strategically place platforms so you can capture the just right photo of sun/sunflower. The field remains open to the public for as long as the flowers are in bloom. One special weekend the farm fully opens to the public and really lets you in. On this one July weekend there are crafts for sale, trailer rides, food to purchase, kids activities and of course sunflowers to purchase. The Bergsbaken family puts out a free will donation box and asks you to make a small donation in order to take part in the sunflowers. This is a sight to behold and in this socially distant world of 2020 what could be better than a walk with a loved one amongst something as bright as a few thousand sunflowers.
