We were promised delivery of a dryer between 11 am and 2 pm. When no one showed up or called us we called and were told they would be 40 minutes late. An hour later when they had not arrived we called again. There was no explanation. An hour later we called back to cancel the order and at the same time received a call that they would be another 20 minutes. We cancelled the order. Do not buy from this store! read more

Do not go here for any reason. I had the same problem as other have reviewed here. Bought a $1500 washer dryer for rental house we have. The washer/dryer was delivered and installed by Johnson's.Dryer unit did not work. They sold me a broken appliance and refused to replace it. They told me to call GE for service. We went 4 weeks without a working unit. Totally unacceptable customer service. Time for them to go out of business. read more

Try to buy local but this business has no customer focus. Purchased a gas grill after being told by the salesman that they put it together and connect the gas line. After calling for an installation appointment was told they do not install only deliver. Was told they don t have personnel to install. When I told them to pick it up as I was mislead, they all the sudden found someone who could install the grill. Fast forward two years later... purchased a refrigerator that did not have a functioning ice maker. When I requested service was told that I had to reach out to the manufacturer. Johnson s doesn t have a service dept. You purchase from them but after that , you re pretty much on your own. After year and a half of trying to get the ice machine working and getting the run around, I gave up. Purchased a $3,000 refrigerator from Art Handler in Pleasantville. Great customer service and follow up. Don t want to hear a response from the GM here and how he s been in the business for 30 years. I am very sorry I did not read the customer reviews in advance. We also waited 3 weeks for delivery dates (summer time so that is understandable), but our new dishwasher failed immediately. Johnsons sent their installer out who confirmed the dishwasher was faulty. Then a sub-contractor from GE had to come and confirm the exact same thing. Now we are told we have to wait at least a week for a replacement part. WHAT? How are we not getting the brand new dishwasher that we paid for? I have written to the President of this family owned firm and am hoping he will step in and resolve this issue for us immediately. If/when he does, I will update this review and rating as merited. As of right now, we could not be more disappointed. UPDATE: The owner contacted me and then got in touch with GE. The repair came within 4 days and the dishwasher is now working fine. It is so sad that our appliances are not even expected to be in perfect condition when they arrive at our homes. We went in to get a refrigerator in April and was told it could be delivered in 2-3 weeks. Never got a delivery date and we called in May- said they had four in their warehouse and would deliver in a week. I wasn't home but my father was- they left before setting the refrigerator correctly and the doors don't close. I called in mid June and they said they would take care of. Still nothing. Called again and they were rude to my 89 year old father. Just wanted the balance of the invoice. Said we would pay when they came by to finish the job. Once again, an appliance that was purchased from Johnson's within the last year has broken. I've come to expect the employees to be irritated with my inquiries and requests for direction or support. We recently purchased an in the wall microwave and oven combo from Johnson's to replace a failing unit. We made clear that we needed it installed and that we would have the key holder open the house for the install. This was not a problem and is the norm for the area. 4 Shore the installer came out and measured, said that they would build a base due to the smaller height, and would have it in within one to two weeks. The oven arrived, installer picked it up, called to inform us that they needed to build a base - (that was to be done prior to coming out). The office worker was rude and made it sound like it was our fault. The next appointment was cancelled after via text following the timeslot with regards giving no idea when they would back. The office worker again was rude and told us we could get another installer if we desired. The third install appointment was missed, we called and were told someone went home sick. We were told that we would have to be present for the install to happen, they were not going to have to keep coming back. All through this process Johnson's was not very helpful, did not want to help find another installer, I asked multiple times to speak to the manager and was told - "Not available - out on sick leave - nobody in charge." I bought a new washer and dryer from Johnson's on 6/27 it was delivered Friday 7/5. Did a load of wash after it was delivered and it filled with water and that was it. Called and left a message, I received a called back Saturday morning and was told to unplug it and plug it back in that it had to be reset. So I did, and I thought it was fixed because it ran through a cycle. Did another load of wash, just to make sure and again filled with water and shut off. I called and was told they had to put in a service call but they are backed up until July 13. I told her I rent my place and need a working washer. Was told we know things happen but it is the busy beach season. I said I bought a brand new washer that doesn't work. I feel if you buy a brand new appliance it should work I don't think that is a lot to ask and if it doesn't the company should replace it, refund me or get someone out today to fix it. When asked to talk to the manager was told Brett was unavailable. And telling people how long you have been in business doesn't cut it or change the fact that you sell broken appliances. I wish I would have checked the reviews before buying from them. I have never bought an appliance that didn't work when you just bought it. It is extremely frustrating that now I have to deal with getting this issue resolved. read more

So I paid them and 2 weeks later they called to schedule delivery and tell me I must hire my own plumber to install. I wish I could leave zero stars. I purchased four appliances from Johnson's, two refrigerators, a microwave, and a stove. The fridge broke after 4 days and had to be replaced. The second fridge was delivered with scratches deep enough that it took the finish off. The microwave and stove just broke, after very minimal use and Johnsons really could have cared less. I realized the items were out of warranty, I was not asking for replacements just help with service and they could not offer that. John who I, unfortunately, have dealt with should not be in customer service, he clearly doesn't care about the reputation of Johnsons and trying to find solutions. I have more appliances to purchase and it saddens me that instead of buying local I'll be headed to the big box stores - where they actually care more than Johnsons, which isn't saying much. read more

We purchased a new Maytag oven in August from Johnson's in Ocean City. We didn't have a chance to use the oven until Thanksgiving, at which time we found out the lower element was not functioning. We were scheduled for a trip to Florida immediately after Thanksgiving and didn't return until December 15. We contacted Johnsons and they immediately sent a repair man who determined we needed a new circuit board, which wouldn't be available until sometime in January. Unfortunately, this wouldn't work for us due to the fact we have a large group coming for Christmas dinner. I contacted our salesman Brian and after two days of hunting he found and removed a circuit board from one of the ovens in the store. He certainly saved our holiday, again proving why it is better to shop from Johnson's appliance than the big box stores that certainly would not have given us the same service. read more

We went initially to Johnson's because we wanted to give our business to a small, local busines. We were buying all new kitchen appliances so we were prepared to spend a few dollars. We dealt with a sales person who was initially very helpful. One issue was, we were told that they couldn't exactly predict when the items would be available (we understand the current supply chain problems) but were told that whenever they came in we had to be prepared to have them deliver the appliances the next day (literally that was what we were told). How absurd is that? But the biggest issue to us was when we told them we had decided what we wanted I then wanted to ask a few questions about taking advantage of the lower sales tax that is available in certain areas. The sales guy told me that I could select everything and then physically place the order in their Wildwood store and he would still get sales credit. I then asked questions about the various rebates that I saw on a couple of the appliances (on their web site) and this is where things went south. The sales guy didn't want to answer any rebate questions and told me I need to make the purchase and then we would see what I was eligible for. I wanted to simply understand the terms and what $ benefit I might derive. He was pretty blunt in not wanting to discuss rebates and began to speak over me. I stopped the conversation. The next day I got a message from him telling me that a couple of the appliances weren't available and I should probably go to the Wildwood store and deal with a sales person there. Rather then do that we went to Best Buy, got great sales help, bought $5,500 worth of appliances and was told they could hold until we were ready for delivery. read more

Last year we purchased a GE refrigerator freezer from them. It was delivered quickly and has worked well. yesterday I had a problem and they worked it out for the service man from GE to come fix it before we had to leave this weekend. I wish I could leave negative stars, I NEVER write reviews BUT...We waited over a year for our stove. They gave it away twice "by accident", "compensated" us by giving us a loaner and nothing more. Gary the store manager then told me I should be appreciative that he isn't charging me more NOW for the stove since the price went up...WELL GARY that would be ILLEGAL since we had a set to price that you purchased the stove at for me. I COULDNT be more happy to be done with them, it was just excuse after excuse. Save your time, $ and frustration and go to Lowes or HomeDepot!!! I hesitate to give a negative review about anyplace in these days and times . I wanted to shop local. I have a home in a neighboring beach town and decided to shop small. I went into Johnson's and was met by an older women who asked if she could help me. I explained that I was looking for a matching appliance set for our beach house. Very rudely she explained that because of Covid nothing was being made. They had somethings in stock but not everything. I ask if she could show us what she had. The way she looked and spoke made me feel like my money wasn't welcome there. She was done with us before she even started. I asked again what did they have in stock and she informed me it was a lot of work to find out and a long wait for delivery. She dismissed us minutes after she asked if she could help us. Normally I'd chalk it up as the person having a bad day . I turned to see her roll her eyes and says something negative to the other people in office. Brian was my Sales representative and I would definitely ask for him again. Delivery was prompt and drivers connected both appliances and checked their work before leaving. At the suggestion of Johnsons', we purchased a 5 year extended warranty for our new refrigerator from New Leaf Service Pro. After two years we had a problem with the refrigerator. The soonest New Leaf pro could fix it was 18 days. We would have been better off paying local people to fix it rather than go over two weeks without a refrigerator. read more

I purchased over $21,000 in appliances from this store. One of the items was a ice maker (Scotsman) there are all different models as with all appliances. Not sure how we got the wrong model (Communication with the sales rep) but we did get the cheap model. First one never even came after months because it was damaged. Then they ordered a second unit and the door frame was broken. I called Scotsman direct and they said you have to work with the store you purchased it from. I appealed the the Manager (Gary) and he would not take the ice maker back. I was not looking for anything for free but to pay for an upgrade. The manufacture told me he could put it on his floor and sell it. Gary the manager told me because of warrenty issues they could not. That turned out to be a lie! So after talking again to Scotsman direct I went to the store and tried to reason with Gary the store manager and had no luck again! After spending over $21,000 with this store I will never go back again and will tell everyone I know to stay away from that store! I have bought several items from this place bed, dish washer, washer and dryer etc. we even bought the service plan which is a waste usually, so the dish washer is less than 2 years old and it starts leaking. Ruins the floor, I have them come and fix it which they didn't. They couldn't even diagnose it correctly. They don't even return phone calls. I didn't believe the bad reviews and I was wrong. Let's start with that I am not one who typically will write a review, good or bad. But after thousands of dollars paid for three appliances in two separate transitions, I can't even express the degree of my dissatisfaction with Johnston's. Both in their product knowledge and more significantly in their lack of customer support. All three appliances, a GE Microwave, GE Range, and KitchenAid dishwasher were defective from the start. The microwave with a malfunctioning magnetometer that we are still working with the manufacturer to rectify, a range that does not steam-clean as advertised, and a dishwasher with damaged parts upon arrival. On my latest call with Johnston's, I was given a cavalier statement that "we don't make the appliances." I understand that basic fact but do expect an iota of recognition of the inconveniences that their products have caused and some assistance. Even their attempt to order replacement parts for the dishwasher was met with nonchalance when inquiring into the status a week after the promised delivery date. I recall the statement as "the manufacturer will let you know when they ship the part." Again, no intervention for or assistance to the customer. When the "part" finally arrived it was just a wheel which falls well short of the parts needs for the damaged drawer assembly. This despite the extend of the damage being reported to Johnston's at the time of installation by their own installer. As of this writing all three appliances remain in a state of non-use or reduce functionality. I would expect that since their prices tend to be a little higher than the surrounding box stores, their competitive edge would be their expertise and customer service. It's certainly not convivence. Terrible experience. Ordered a washer and dryer Easter weekend. Was told washer was in stock but dryer was back ordered. After a few weeks inquired about having just the washer delivered so we could use that, but was told they don't like splitting up delivery. About 8 weeks after we ordered was told dryer was in, but washer was sold out (apparently they don't know how to save items that have been sold in their warehouse!). At 9 weeks got a call from neighbor when we were out of town that Johnson's came to deliver our dryer with no phone calls or any heads up. Talked to delivery person and asked them to take it back to the store since we were out of town which they agreed to, and an hour later our neighbor told us it was left on the porch. Called them Monday and was told we were their top priority to get this resolved and they would call us back same day, 2 days later still no call. Spoke to manager and others several times during this process and always promised a return call and never get it. Still don't have a washer and have to figure out how to get dryer upstairs ourselves! Will never use this store again!!! read more

Typically I am thrilled to have local businesses to support. This store has limited selections but nice brands. The delivery people are very helpful and kind. However today after I received a brand new mattress I went in to make the bed only to find fresh blood on the mattress. Evidently a delivery person cut himself placing the mattress. The initial response from the receptionist was giggles. John the salesman acted like I was putting him out by being upset. He promised a new mattress in 12 days!!!! This one took less than a week. He attempted to return the mattress they removed that had been in their truck with God knows what. I am expecting holiday company and need a bed. He refused to let me talk to the manager Brett until I offered to ride up there Finally Brett called and said the earliest was 12 days away. Ridiculous. They covered the mattress and offered a 75$ credit. Really? I planned on one more King mattress and have second thoughts. My advice get a good salesperson. Micromanage delivery. Dont sign off until you check new mattress for bodily fluids and make sure management recognizes we could all go off the island for full service read more
