The move was seamless, the crew called to give me a 30 min heads up and they were on time, professional, friendly, and got the piano up 2 flights of stairs in perfect condition in less than an hour. Very good experience! I was so used to moving without "giving a thought" about the size of an elevator. In November; I moved to a Vintage apartment in DC ; never realized that the building did not have an elevator that was large enough to hold a piano. The piano had to come up the stairs! Johnson Piano movers was prepared. Sent an additional staff member; a "Gentle Giant"; who was able to support the men that were already there. They got the piano up to my Unit. When I chose the apartment; I never even thought about how I was going to get the piano moved in. I almost fainted. The piano is my therapy. All of the young men were awesome! I was stressed to the point of a nervous breakdown. This is a good business. When I move again; I will call Johnson Moving. I needed my Mom's antique Chickering baby grand piano moved within the state of MD - about a one hour drive away. Johnson's was recommended by the previous movers, Commonwealth. Johnson's only moves pianos, so their technique & equipment is customized to just piano moving. I had one or two entrance steps at the house in Hagerstown and no steps here - just a threshold. A team of four men moved the piano fast & efficiently, & even helped me decide its best position to save space. R was Johnson's employee with their name embroidered on his polo shirt. He was very cordial and professional in demeanor and appearance. I paid $800 for the move but I was given a discount of $50 for a cancelled booking next day delivery time window. Price was slightly lower than several others we contacted, scheduling was easy, and the ultimate move went perfectly and exactly on schedule. Our move actually turned out to be a much harder job than we initially expected it to be, due to unanticipated issues in the stairwell of the new house, but they handled it beautifully and honored the original estimate despite the additional work and time required. I wanted to move my piano into climate-controlled storage while I was having new flooring installed in my home, so I found Johnson's Piano Moving based on their excellent online reviews. Ted from Johnson's worked with me to have my piano moved into their climate-controlled storage for a week during the installation. My house has a side entrance which made the move pretty challenging, but the excellent crews who moved the piano out and back in were very creative in accommodating the challenge with the front door and they took great care not to damage my railings on the stoop. Although the company came with a friend's warm recommendation, the crew who picked up and delivered my upright between two residences, both with steep exterior steps, did not open the rear truck door fully while loading during pickup. This has caused at least cosmetic damage to a beautiful Yamaha piano, which had cost me over $10k brand new a few years ago. Thankfully the moving crew admitted their oversight unprompted and with management offered repairs or a discount in exchange, but I would expect better upfront awareness from a small business that advertises specifically as piano movers. The moving crew was late to arrive yet otherwise respectful and well-prepared for a strenuous delivery throughout the process. read more

I called over the weekend and they were able to move it that Monday. Movers were very professional and friendly. They also wore masks which was important to me during COVID. Just used Johnson's Piano Movers to move a baby grand piano from my living room to my garage temporarily while my hardwood floors were being refinished. The owner(Ted) responded immediately and his team disassembled the piano, moved it to my garage, reassembled in my garage, covered it with blankets - all in less than 30 minutes. A week or so later, they did the same by returning it to my living room after my floors were refinished. I was worried that moving the piano back on my refinished floors would scratch them and Ted assured me that there would be no scratches - and he was right! Great job by his moving teams.
