Johnson's cut down my hazardous 60'-70' shagbark hickory. They charged $1200 less than another company. The employees were polite, etc. 5 stars for this job. BUT called them for another job to cut a long maple limb & was quoted more than I thought the job was worth. The son quoted me for the maple limb. We have been using Johnson's for many years and in the past found their work to be outstanding. They used experienced teams and a member of the ownership team inspected the job when it was completed. Unfortunately our most recent job was not up to the previous quality. Tucker ( owner's son ) gave us a reasonable quote for trimming trees , removing a large spruce and stumps. The cost of the stumps was higher than usual but he explained it included removal , clean up , mulching etc. The stumps were partially removed , the crew dumped the material in my compost pile, used my wheelbarrow for the clean up and left large roots in the ground . There was no mulching and no follow up inspection . Very disappointing job . read more

I contacted Johnson's for firewood and had a remarkable experience with them. Rachel answers the phone and is so helpful, friendly, and informative. The next morning I get a call and the firewood is on its way. Manuel, the delivery person, called me with an estimated arrival time (always an unexpected surprise), dropped it off and was also delightfully friendly. Plus the wood was of good quality. We got hit by some really horrible weather. My 72 year old mother needed emergency service. Johnson's came out, so at least there was that. However, crew did not complete job properly, we now need an additional visit --- we will be calling someone else! When it was pointed out to owner's son, he acknowledged he saw problem, but "I don't want to go back up there". BIGGEST complaint is that he took advantage of his neighbors by horrifically price gouging. I get it, we had a big storm and the price is whatever the market will bear. A LITTLE extra profit is fine, but not the crazy pricing he was putting out there. Yeah, she agreed to it and paid it, because, what else are you going to do? Shame on Johnson's for taking advantage of an elderly neighbor after a storm. 1 star is only because yelp won't allow zero stars. read more

Johnson's Tree Service just completed a fairly large clearing project for me in Carmel NY. The team arrived when expected with all of the equipment and went right to work. I had many years of new growth and a bit of old growth take-downs as well as a lot of nasty grape vine, etc. The crew did a terrific job making sure that I was satisfied. This review is based on ordering wood with them. I ordered a cord of wood last year in the 12-14" size and the wood was great! It was dry and burned very well, and even was free delivery since we live in Carmel. They dropped it in our driveway a few days after I ordered over the phone. It was so easy. The woman I spoke with when I called was lovely. I just called again to order another cord this year and again, SO FRIENDLY. I also asked for an estimate to have some trees trimmed in my yard, so she said she would send the owner to drop off the cord of wood in order to take a look at what our yard may need. Extremely friendly, very reliable- and being able to order shorter wood for our Jotul 3 stove was great, this way we didn't need to re-cut the wood to be able to fit. read more

Johnson's tree service is a family owned business in Carmel for many years use him today when I had neighbors tree leaning towards my house. Bobby came right away for estimate said he would be here next day Friday at 8 AM and the chainsaws are running at 8 o'clock in the morning.
