We were a victim of crime when our car was stolen from our house. When the car got recovered the police wouldn't wait 30 minutes for us to pick it up so they towed it here. So we had to pay over 200 dollars to get it out. When we paid to get it out I then had to find a locksmith to make a new key. Just an all around terrible situation. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE DAVID VELEZ (manager) hung up 3 times His driver number 158 told us that he would follow us because we were down the street from where we lived. the driver waited until we drove off to drive back to his job knowing that he was suppose to follow us. When i called Back a lady answered and refused to give me her name after i asked More than once. After speaking to her she hung up twice as well. They're not open on Sundays and refused to turn around unless we were going to pay the mileage of where his driver was coming from. We live 1.43 miles away from the accident scene and David Velez wanted us to pay for his driver coming from John going to our address. Due to the driver saying that he would follow us my friend left everything in her vehicle. I decided to look under the hood at the battery, because a friend told me to, because the same thing happened to her s it sister. Everyone is so quick to write a review when everything goes wrong with a location (when the customers are often to blame for coming across curt and frustrated with their situation but take it out on people who simply work in the business). My car was towed to this location after someone wrecked it. Johnson's followed protocol in sending me a certified card in the mail to inform me the car was there and it would become their property after a certain amount of days. The driver of the car basically abandoned the vehicle on the side of the road (this particular person and the bizarre situation is another story entirely). I called Johnson's after receiving the notice and explained my situation. JD. JD was EXTREMELY patient and polite in listening. He understood I had no idea what to do in my situation. While the car had insurance, my agent neglected to add collision coverage when he transferred my policy from another insurance company; since I don't work in the insurance field, I trusted my agent to ensure I had all the necessary coverage needed to be safe and legal on the road. With that being said - the car was not able to be driven, and even if it was - I'd have to pay for all of the work out of pocket. While he could have easily cut me off and said "Welp - you owe for the towing fees and storage for the time the car's been here". JD continued to listen patiently and even offered advice for my unique situation. His advice actually worked. The lender came and retrieved the vehicle as a repossession. My story does have a happy ending, though. The car was assessed and determined to be a total loss. Even though my car didn't have collision, I had GAP coverage through the dealership for 150%. Even though all the fees will most likely be added by the lender, the GAP insurance will cover most of the loss plus extra fees associated with it. The warranties I purchased at the dealership will also go to the lender. It looks as if I will break even on the car (can't ask for anything better than that!). All of this stemmed from advice (and definitely luck) from JD. He spoke to me like he would his daughter and I will never forget the kindness in his voice and the reassurance of his words. It's all about how you approach people. If you're nice and honest - they are happy to work with you in any way they can. read more

After being jerked around by AAA, two stressed out ladies and one unamused dog, we were rescued by this amazing company. From the dispatch guy who kept us informed, to Jason who towed us -- who is the Usal Bolt of Backing Up. Let me tell you, he backed up a camping trailer that was hooked into his flat bed that had the SUV... at 6 am after already working a shift, in pitch black at the Disney campground. That alone was amazing -- but the absolutely kindness we experienced after being stranded on the side of the for 6 hours was unbelievable. I cannot recommend them enough. I would make them my first call no matter the situation. I would be comfortable if they picked up any of my nieces in the middle of the night after a car accident. I think I offered naming rights to my first born to the dispatch guy after he promised to be there in under an hour, which he delivered. These are never fun reviews to write since it has to do with issues like care accidents but I am pleased to say... Johnson's was extremely pleasant to work with. They arrived on the scene of my accident and without hesitation volunteered to drop me off at home. The driver was so calming and nice to ride with. Not scary like you expect most towing guys to be (no offense, just saying as a female, it's scary to drive with a stranger late at night). He informed me of exactly what he was doing with the car and told me to call the next morning. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!! If I can leave no stars I would. I had a not very serious single car accident on Wednesday which resulted in a guardrail collapsing under the weight of my car and me falling down a four foot embankment. My accident did not cause the airbags to deploy or a single window to break. It was a very uneventful accident. However, because my car was on its side, FHP required that a crane service come and pick my car up. They sent out Johnson's Wrecker Service. The crane operator picked my car up, slammed it into the cement retaining wall, then proceeded to drag it up the retaining wall, over the dirt, across the grass, and then on to the asphalt. He then picked it up and slammed it down onto the asphalt five or six times and laughed while they did this. Him and the other tow truck driver did not put my car down on all four wheels until I got out of my husband's truck and yelled that I was videotaping them destroying my car after sitting there and watching them do this for 6 minutes trying to figure out what they were doing. As soon as I told them I was videotaping them, they slammed my car down as hard as they possibly could; blowing out all four tires and bending my exhaust tips into my back bumper. They destroyed my hood, my front quarter panel, my driver side mirror, my driver's side doors, both front and back, my driver side rear quarter panel, all four tires, all four wheels, and the independent suspension on all four wheels. They still didn't get my airbags to deploy. From what I have been told from several people, this company has shady towing practices and will intentionally destroy a vehicle if they see something they want on it. There have been many people that have told me that they intentionally avoid them because they know former employees. If you go and read their Facebook reviews they're only bad reviews are from females which supports the way that they also spoke to me; in a demeaning misogynistic way. I have been trying to reach the owner, Dennis, since the day this happened from early Wednesday evening. I have yet to get hold of him. It is now the following Monday. As you can see from my two attached photos, if you follow the body lines of my car when it's on its side versus my car once they were done touching it, there was only one crease just behind the broken headlight from my accident. They crumpled the entire fender. I have an 8 minute video of them destroying my car when it was still in a very repairable state after my accident. This is completely unacceptable! HEARTLESS LIARS!! They told me there would be no charge until after my insurance adjuster showed up to assess the damage. That was not the case and they charged me almost $800 even after I told them that I had LEUKEMIA & that their guy told me I'd have up to 30 days to get the car without paying out of pocket. Their response was that I should not have listened to their employee! They also said they didn't care about my cancer and not only did they not give me a discount but they added an additional $5 fee just for the hell of it. Total scumbags!! read more

Lifesavers! David is our hero, give this guy a raise! I called Allstate "Emergency" Roadside assistance after my front passenger tire blew on I-4, and after an hour they said they'd called 25 companies and couldn't find anyone, so they were taking a break to try again in an hour (they actually called back two hours later to say they'd try again in two days because "no one was available"). I have a car without a spare, and even the road rangers couldn't help and drove away. I called another towing company who recommended Johnson's, and they answered on the second ring to tell me they had someone in my area who would be there in 30 minutes or less. We even had enough time to get to Empire for a tire change right before they closed! After a horrible, scary experience, we were able to drive home WITH our car. If you have a roadside assistance company, don't even bother waiting for them to call around, because they only want the cheapest deal, and don't care about your safety even if you're stranded on the most dangerous highway in the country in 90 degree heat. Call Johnson's and get reimbursed later. read more

My experience with Johnson's was extremely displeasing! It was nothing like Colleen's experience. I was involved in a car accident on 6/3/2011... OPD had my car towed here (they have a contract w/ Johnson's). Anyway, I had just purchased car and I had not received the registration yet, but I had every other form of documentation (bill of sale, the warranty information, etc)... but because I didn't have the registration they gave me the most difficult and unsympathetic service I had ever experienced! I am a single woman... So my mother and father drove two hours to help me with this stressful ordeal! Johnson's was closing at 5pm on the Saturday following my accident, I got there about 4:30. The yard monitor guy was the most helpful... he suggested that I call the dealership to have the necessary documentation faxed about 4:55, the secretary wouldn't even wait for it to come through! Needless to say I wasted my time going there because they wouldn't release my car. I would not suggest their services to anyone, ever! read more

We caught their driver as he was pulling out of the gate and he said we had to pay him cash in order to drop the car. of course, we didn't have that type of cash on us and had to run to the ATM, he then drove my sons car to their yard. Went to pick up my belongings after a crash and didn't know what to expect. I called (a few times) prior to coming to the office. Every single time the phone was answered quickly and politely. When I got there the young lady in the office was so kind and took the time to answer my questions even though it seemed to be getting busy. Once I was taken back to my vehicle RANDY was an absolute angel. He also took the time to treat me as an individual and made sure I didn't feel rushed (even though it was like 1000 degrees outside and there were like 5 people waiting behind me). He made sure I had all the time I needed to take the photos of the damage and gather all my belongings. He made a very sad situation a lot more tolerable. He was truly the highlight of my day. Called them to tow my Class C RV to a local Ford dealer. Dispatch lady was friendly, but could tell she was multi-tasking. Reply to my emails took several hours, but nevertheless, eventually arrived. (Good for 1 star deduction) The lack of quick reply almost caused me to call another company. Driver #1254 arrived on-time with a massive tow rig. He was pleasant, informative and certainly took care and paid attention while hooking up the RV. He explained every step in detail and assured me he would be safe and careful during the 20 minute drive. The massive tow rig was well equipped with all the bells and whistles - wireless turn signal harness for the RV, plenty of tools and other equipment to get the job done. A little pricy but charges were what I was expecting: $135.00 per hour point to point plus 15% fuel surcharge, with a 2hr minimum. To tow 6 miles, 2 hours point to point ($135.00/hr x 2 $270.00) x 15% fuel charge of $40.50 total $310.50. Unlike previous reviews and "shady" comments in some of the reviews, I had no issues with them other than slow email response. read more

Do not use these people. They are contacted with the sheriffs office as an impound lot and they have very strict unorthodox rules for retrieving items from wrecked vehicles. They are very slow, physically and mentally, and they are not helpful. They do not care about the customers because they have a government contract. If you are in an accident in the Orlando area, make sure you direct the authorities to not tow your car there. They need to be shut down and put out if business. read more

Just had a close call on 417 when Johnson's wrecker decided he would do a 3 point turn in the highway. He wasn't even towing a car!!

Johnson's wrecker has been around for a long time and I always felt they were the most reasonable and professional of all Florida towing businesses as I have used them in the past. As most Floridians know, tow companies have a bad reputation overall for being difficult with tactics that inflate fees and property conversions. Well, maybe my recent experience is isolated with Johnson's, but their "dark side" was introduced to me. Mind you, they were courteous but a family member of mine was involved in a serious accident requiring admission to the hospital which will be two weeks and continuing as of this writing requiring multiple surgeries. In me assisting to get the vehicle out, Johnson's requires 3 things, 1) a copy of the owners drivers license, 2) a written signed release of by the owner and 3) a copy of the registration or title. All this is for the "owners protection", their rules, not Florida state rules. All serve a purpose; my beef is that they refuse to provide an exception or make any attempt to understand a unique situation. The drivers license was lost at the scene as the clothing was torn off by the paramedics. With both hands baldy damaged, writing a release was difficult but not impossible. I found the title but the license remained missing. This serious accident and conditions were explained to Johnson's but they would not let me pay the charges and pick up the vehicle without the license. An Orlando police sergeant assisted me with pleading the situation to Johnson's but the answer was a firm no. So what was the result? I was gladly told by Johnson's of the tow fees, storage fees and admin fees that I will be incurring until I can produce the license I finally got a replacement but not until the fees approached the vehicle's gross cost. What to do now? I can only hope the insurance carrier will understand that we did all we could to mitigate the charges which increased only due to Johnson's lack of empathy and their exuberance over their efforts to keep the charges adding up. If the carrier does not pay the ransom, then abandonment is our only choice as the vehicle's cost is less than the accumulated outstanding charges. read more

A very uncomfortable wait to conduct and complete business. It really seemed like their goal was to squeeze every dollar out of their clients. I was disappoint this morning to be cut off in a left turn lane by their tow truck. I had to slam on my brakes, he just missed the front right of my vehicle. We all missed the light so the truck got through and we all sat 10 minutes for the next light. Completely not necessary. He just didn't want to wait in the left turn lane line. If this is how he drives just image how he treats your car and how wonderful his people skills are. Why should we be worried about getting in wreaks with tow trucks with their wreak-less driving?? It is a good business move since they are there, they can tow your car and charge you for it. If I need a tow I know to give a competitor a try first.
