This restaurant was so trendy and cute. You walk up to the cashier, order, you get a number and then you sit down and they'll bring your food to you. We ordered the French toast and Huevos Rancheros. The food tasted amazing and we were not disappointed. Highly recommend if you are vegan and even if you're not, you wouldn't even notice. Seriously.

VEGAN REVIEW Stayed nearby for a work trip, came here both days for breakfast, picked up lunch & took some treats home! This is an amazing little vegan & mostly gluten free cafe. I LOVE brunch & that is hard as a vegan, I was so grateful that this place had options to satisfy both sweet & savory cravings. Good coffee & tea drinks. The salads are HUGE & so tasty. Small but mighty selection of vegan cheese, salami & other tasty vittles. Really good desserts & baked goods. Lovely space& friendly staff. Very eco-friendly, as well.

I've had this place saved for a while now and since I was in the area I stopped by to grab a little snack. It's a plant-based cafe with lots of gluten free options. Inside seating with an outside patio. Big parking lot inside a shopping center. They had plenty of fresh pastries to choose from but the one that caught my eye was the cinnamon roll. I have been on the hunt for a good gluten free one and this one is delicious, I just wished it was warmed up. As for service, the cashier I had was a little rude. I asked a question about the cinnamon roll being gluten free as there was no signage and I wanted to double check and she looked at me like I should know better and then replied with a yes. Also when I asked for it to go, she just hands me the box; no utensils and didn't even mention where to grab any if they were near by. Not sure if she's the normal cashier but try and be more friendly, esp when you don't know if this is someone's first time in the establishment.

Was looking for a coffee spot as we were randomly in the area on a Sunday morning. Service and ambiance was friendly. GVO and latte were not good. They tasted burnt and grainy. Lavender latte was similar with only a scent of lavender but no taste of it. Kid like the hot chocolate. The burrito was pretty good. Salsa was flavorful. We'd probably return to try other options available food wise and maybe give them another shot with their drinks.

Breakfast Burrito, side salad, and a dressing/sauce that I could slurp by the gallon!

I love JOi Cafe and try to time my visits along 101 to mealtime so I can have an excuse to go. I haven't had anything less than delicious, no matter what I've ordered. I'm off gluten AND dairy so if you too have dietary restrictions, you MUST check it out!! Last week I got a Breakfast Burrito and Cortado coffee (pictured) then a Whoopie pie and cookie dough ball to go (not pictured). While that blew my diet big time, I was able to make it all last -- was worth it! The burrito actually lasted me two meals and the desserts were cut so I could make them last, as well. Lots of food that fit my diet. Sunday mornings there is a farmer's market right outside so it tends to be extremely crowded. This past visit I went early on a Saturday morning. I had my choice of parking and seat, service was quick and friendly, and I was out the door shortly. There are clear menus and lots of ordering options. Some of the items (like in the refrigerated case on the side) are out of my budget and nothing in that case had a price tag on it. I guess most of their patrons don't need to ask about prices (I did and it quickly became apparent that everything in that case is off limits for me!) So if budget is an issue, focus on the items in the main menu. Highly recommend!

Felt really good taking care of my body with a tasty detox vegan meal at Joi. The fresh ingredients presented innovatively made me forget I was eating vegan only dishes. Without meat, the aroma, taste and texture of vegan ingredients were more pronounce and sharp. Side items that usually were secondary to meat suddenly were more appreciated and enjoyable. The refreshing environment complimented the vegan food nicely. We were here for lunch and it was bustling. Will be back for sure.

The tiny and grossly overpriced cap. I do not have giant hands. 9oz?!?! Really??? Absurd. Never again.
    Robert W.

Overpriced. $6+ for a 9oz cappuccino with oat milk?!?????!? I know prices are inflated in California, but this is freaking absurd to a freakishly tiny coffee. Ingredients costs: $0.50 at most for the beans, prob 1/2 that as they will get in bulk and wholesale. Barista style oat milk: $0.34 retail, so again that will be cheaper. Cup (bulk price) $0.25, cost of espresso machine (commercial assuming a new one per year!) per cup less than $0.10. Labor (will be generous based on Google): $21/hr gives $1/drink. Total so far: about $2.20. Yes, rent and utilities, but still feel like being gouged. Nope, won't be going back.

I love everyone here and they have the best juices and chia pudding and avocado toast!! Everything is gluten free and glorious. The fun tuna is so weird but and I'm glad I only got a sample. My avocado toast took forever

You guys this place is insanely good. Drove out from SF valley on a Saturday and this place was busy! Don't worry tho, it's located in a great complex so there's plenty of parking and seating. I ordered an Almond Milk Latte and their Blue Lavender Collagen Smoothie (made in a bowl) without granola. I am literally planning my drive back next weekend as I write this, it was that good. Latte was smooth, perfect level of foam and their espresso is great. Smoothie was the star of the show. I absolutely love the fact that you can get any smoothie as bowl (I'm always wanting bowls instead of a drink!) and the flavors of the bowl are perfect. Literally no notes! I chose to sit outside and enjoy the sun but the inside had plenty of seats and outlets for laptops. They also have a grab and go station with so many yummy looking options. Ignore any negative reviews of staff. They are so kind, even the manager was checking with every table if they needed anything. New fave vegan spot!

Came to the area for a haircut, I used to be a local and was a bit homesick. Stopped at Joi cafe which was always a favorite for ordering lunch from when I lived and worked in the area. As usual, the staff is fantastic and everything on the menu looked fantastic, the inside is adorable with shelves of wonderful items and I knew if I browsed I would definitely get myself into trouble. I decided to go for something new to me anyway and ordered the hot girl avocado toast. The flavors were deliciously layered making each bite a delight. I highly recommend checking out Joi cafe if you're lucky enough to live nearby, or just in the area it is more than worth it stop in'

    Almond Milk Cortado, 4oz
    Der S.

The following is an espresso drink review -Cortado 4oz. Glassware Cup -$6.00 -Roast: Medium, 2 oz Espresso -Milk: Almond -Foam Art: Blossom -TOD: 11:00 am -Prep: More than 5min (two orders up) -Machine: Mavam UCEM -Roaster: Blossom Coffee -Baked Goods: yes -Menu: Breakfast, Lunch -Review: Medium roast past first crack; higher acid than full roast so bean flavor is fruit adjacent espresso balanced with silky steamed almond milk. 2oz/2oz espresso, milk substitute. The faux leche does not produce a true Cortado taste. There is an oat milk option, also. Both flavors are distinct from a trad Cortado but worthy steamed drink variants. -Tip Worthy?: 15% Level (Tip-Worthy Scale: 0%; 10%; 15%; 20%; 25%; 25%+) -Customer: Loyal patrons frequent the cafe mostly for a full cafe dining experience, not so much just to sip coffee. The vegan meals btw: chef's kiss.

I just found this place and its amazing! They have such a good selection, the food is great, and the staff is very friendly. The decor is really cute and they have a plenty of indoor seating and a cute outdoor patio. I think I just found my new breakfast spot!

Whoever designed their interior knew what they were doing creating an inviting "sit and stay for a bit " type of vibe . All the merch and goodies on display kept my adhd self busy enough to not mind waiting on my order. We ordered: Decaf Ginger Lemongrass hot tea tasted better than I expected tbh . It's light and smooth with a very subtle floral aroma . Makes me feel all cozy inside. Drip coffee with 2 sticks of stevia was ok. Very light in flavor. Breakfast Burrito came out hot, nicely wrapped and readily cut in half. Also came with a side of green salsa that was light and not too spicy imo. So glad I ordered this! Was a bit hesitant after seeing mixed reviews about it being dry. Mine was made to perfection from texture of all the fillings & tortilla wrap to the compilation of flavors combined. Ham and Cheese Croissant was toasted for us . It's not bad for a small bite that's slightly filling. Tasted good like a ham and cheese should. Good flakiness not toooo messy.

Located in a busy Westlake village strip mall/shopping center, this spot wasn't hard to find. Grabbed parking right up front and then headed in. I love the aesthetic of the place! Very fun, vibrant colors and neon signs. It's got a young hip vibe and makes you want to hang out a bit. The menus were large and I appreciated all of the colorful pictures. We love a good menu board! Also love that the ingredients are all displayed in the front so you can watch your bowl or drink ingredients be put all together. Here's what I got: Island Bowl - starts with a blend of pitaya, blue majik, and coconut. Toppings were with hemp granola, strawberries, pineapple, mango, coconut, goji berries, hemp hearts, and a drizzle of honey. It was incredibly fresh and had the perfect balance of creamy and crunchy textures. 10/10. Cucumber Lemonade - made with fresh cucumber, fresh lemon juice, water, chia seeds, and agave. It was light and very refreshing without being overly sweet, also super low calorie! The only thing for me is a like a sweet lemonade and this drink was slightly one note/tone for me. Next time I'd ask for more agave or something to sweeten it up but for my friends who don't love overly sweet drinks, this one would be for you. 7/10. Beyond the food, the staff was so welcoming and genuinely friendly, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere is relaxing but fun and the whole shop was super clean (always a plus). Will definitely stop back in when in the area.

When I arrived, I was greeted and waited to place my order. An employee suggested that I use one of the kiosks instead. I noticed several customers waiting to order, so I decided to place my order directly through the Ubatuba website on my phone while inside the restaurant. After ordering, I waited quite a while. During that time, I noticed customers who had arrived after me receiving their orders first. Eventually, I heard my name called, went to pick up the order, and returned to my car. Once I got to my car, I realized the bowl I had received was not my order. I immediately returned to the restaurant to let the staff know. The employee took the bowl, threw it away, and said, "Yeah, I know you took her order. Next time listen for your name." I found that comment both unfair and unprofessional. This was clearly an honest mistake. I genuinely believed I had heard my name called. If I had intentionally taken someone else's order, I certainly would not have returned to correct the mistake. The employee then told me that I had placed my order through DoorDash and that my order was separated from the others. This was confusing because I did not place my order through DoorDash; I ordered directly through the Ubatuba website. If the company uses a third-party system behind the scenes, that is not something customers are made aware of during the ordering process. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What was disappointing was not the mix-up itself, but the way the situation was handled. A simple explanation or a courteous response would have gone a long way. Instead, I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong when I was trying to correct an honest mistake. I have always enjoyed Ubatuba and have had positive experiences in the past, which is why this interaction stood out. I hope situations like this are handled so future customers are treated with more professionalism and respect.
