So...I've driven by many times and finally got the opportunity to come. I made an appointment with Nick as I've known him what seems forever. (He's the first person I met when visiting Rochester almost six years ago. He's come full circle coming back to this area. He's an excellent stylist and colorist. This place is lovely, the color scheme is shades of gray and it's kind of sleek. I got a tour and saw the treatment rooms for facials and massage (the massage therapist I hear works at Strong as a medical massage therapist so she knows her stuff) the facialist has been doing her trade for about 30 years so she knows her stuff. You make an appointment so she can determine what is needed to give you your very best facial. I think this is an excellent idea as most people when the come for a facial of course fill out a form but you really don't go over things until you are on the table so to speak. Due to Covid you will be asked to fill out a simple form and your temperature taken. Everything is disinfected including the chair and sink where your hair is washed. You can get manicures and pedicures. Also from what I read they do eye brows, waxing an spray tanning. It's a great little place with a lovely staff. You are warmly greeted and even though it's different with Covid it's still a pleasant experience. I need to try a facial. Prices are fair.. any questions contact them they are very helpful. This is still not over somehow. The salon owner has contacted me stating she is pursuing legal action because she is not represented by the independent contractors that rent the chairs. Michelle texted me this long thing saying I was blackmailing her (don't think she understands what blackmail is) and the cops have contacted us, I don't even know what the charge could possibly be, unless they have created a new law I didn't know about before. Just stating that I stand by my experience of this salon having creepy vibes and that the hairdresser showed up late and tried to take as much of my money as possible and then tried to get it back when I got it refunded correctly the first time. Lol. Please refund me for the haircut and I'll take this down, I'll say a prayer in Jolie's name, anything, don't care. please just release me from this loop. I want to forget I ever went here. -- One more update as the salon hs threatened us with legal action because of a yelp review... I am happy to amend this review if I felt like the salon wanted to refund me for the charges I did not consent to. But really threatening legal action over a bad yelp review seems a bit extreme to me. I really am pursuing a partial refund for services I was charged for unknowingly and the tip. When I asked for a refund on those charges she offered to give me a bottle of shampoo. I am not even requesting a full refund. I feel that is more than fair and the stress that this has caused is just crazy. Again, I am happy to take it all down if we could just get the refund and then i will never come back and bother anyone again. But please refund me for the things I did not ask for, hair shimmer, balayage when it was really highlights, the additional add ins, and the tip. Leaving 200 for the hairdresser. Please I'd like this to be over. I will just delete the whole thing I don't even care. I still like the color. - Just updating because dealing with getting the charges reversed for the services I didn't request has been hell.... the bangs are looking good since I had another girl cut them. Color has held up alright. I'd go to a girl besides Michelle if I went back here, but seems kinda sketchy they can just add on hundreds of dollars without asking. Came on for a cut and color from Nick and I couldn't be happier. Nick is incredibly talented! My curls are flawless and my purple highlights compliment my hairstyle perfectly. As for the salon itself, it is clean and bright, and from the second I walked in the staff was warm and welcoming which is becoming a rarity because of Covid. She is professional and is an expert at what she does. She values staying up on the latest styles and types of cuts. I just moved to town and saw a groupon for brazilian waxes at Jolie. I thought, sure what the heck, I'm new to town and this is a bargain! I've had brazilian waxes done at different salons in different states, and let me say, this was a very different experience from what I'm used to. First off, the room seemed clean enough, but the chair/lounge that they had me lay on was just covered with paper, similar to what might be on an exam table at your doctor's office. Everywhere else I've gone has had a sheet or something a little more comfortable covering the table, but I thought ok, this involves less clean-up, so whatever. The esthetician did wear gloves, but I didn't see her wash her hands before or after putting them on. The esthetician stayed in the room as I got undressed and dressed again, which I thought was kind of weird. Also, throughout the whole waxing, I was pretty much spread eagle on the paper-covered chair, totally uncovered. In the past, the salons I've gone to have always had a sarong-type garment to help keep me at least a little bit decent! The gal that did my was did do a good job with the execution of the whole waxing; the temperature was good, she was thorough and made sure to minimize the painful parts and also did a good job checking to make sure things weren't sticky afterwards. I would say overall though that I felt like I was being rushed through and it wasn't the most comfortable experience I've ever had (i.e. having the esthetician in the room while I'm getting undressed/dressed was REALLY uncomfortable, and she seemed annoyed that I was chatting to try and distract from the fact that my vajayjay was getting waxed.) Maybe this is just how things are done here in New York State? My groupon has another wax so I'll be going back to use it, but I'm not sure if I'll add this place to my pampering repertoire. They did a good job but it's not what I'd call the most luxurious experience. read more

I get brazilian waxes on a regular basis. Was in town, so randomly chose this salon as one of the few that does brazilians in Rochester. Salon seems nice but the Brazilian experience was extremely poor compared to those in Chicago. Normally I experience minimal pain but I actually Jumped and dreaded each time she did a strip. Either due to the quality of wax or technique. The work was not thorough, she didn't even use the light, so I will have to clean up what she neglected. My normal esthetician is extremely thorough (uses the light and removes the extra hair that waxing missed), uses quality products (wax and tea tree oils) and has excellent technique all for less than what I paid here. Less of importance is that the table is just a paper sheet instead of comfortable towels. I would not recommend for first time Brazilian experience. But it will do if there's nothing else around....... read more

I bought the groupon for 2 Brazilians and figured it is always nice to try somewhere new and experience different people since everyone waxes differently. The shop itself is nice and looks clean. I have never been there when the dog is there so that isn't an issue for me. The parking lot is very small especially when full. I would suggest backing into a parking space because it will be much easier then trying to back out of a parking space when the lot is full. The receptionist is nice, but sits very low at a very high desk so if her head is down she doesn't notice you right away, which is fine- it happens. As for my wax- the first time I went it was very rough and painful. I figured that since it had been a while between waxes that it would be and when I went back 4 weeks later it would be better. However, it was not. It was still very rough and painful. I understand wanting to get the job done quickly since it is not very pleasant, but I do expect that my comfort comes first. Both times I was waxed the lady did not wear any gloves and I did not witness her washing her hands before or after my wax which mean she touched my vagina and then the door handle that everyone else touches- this is the reason why I will not go back there! I thought the first time was just a fluke but when she did it again I was not happy. She also did not do my back side or at least ask if I wanted it done. She did it the first time after asking but didn't even give me the choice this time. I also needed to ask for change for the tip however, the receptionist could not break a 20. I asked my waxer if she could break it for me and she assumed what my tip would have been and gave me back the change from that. I felt that was very unprofessional. She did keep what I would have given her but, I still felt as if she should have asked me first. The women who did my wax was very nice and easy to talk to but everything else does not make up for that in my case. Overall, I will not go back here for a wax even if it is free. I probably wouldn't go back for any other services either knowing that one person doesn't have the healthiest habits... I don't know how sanitary anyone else is who works there. read more

I'll start by saying that I liked how my hair came out when I got it done (balayage and haircut, $185+$30tip). Second, the color that I wanted required 3 sessions total (black to pink balayage) therefore $435 total not including tips or the $45 haircut. So after about 4 weeks later I had my next appointment for another balayage but because I got my Covid-19 vaccine the day before I was feeling under the weather which I did not prepare for since I'm healthy and the first vaccine I received I didn't get sick. I called about an hour before (I woke up feeling sick and I wasn't sure if I would feel better, my appointment was at noon) and when I let them know I wasn't going to be able to make it they said that if I wanted to reschedule I had to pay a $100 cancellation fee!! $100!! Can you believe my irritation! First off, on their website it says if you cancel within 24hrs due to an illness an exception of the $25 cancellation fee can be made, so why was I being charged 4x that amount!? It was so upsetting because I would of even understood paying the $25 cancellation fee for being sick but the fact that they tried to charge me $100 was just ridiculous. I would hate for someone else to experience the same thing I did, have plans and invest money in this salon for 2+ sessions just to have to change their plans completely because this salon is not following their own policies and overcharging. My business would of been at least $505 not including tips for the other two balayage sessions, they lost out because of this and I had to figure out a new plan for my hair. Disappointing. read more

When my stylist, Leah, moved to Jolie from another salon,I moved with her. First of all, Leah is an amazing hair stylist. She is the first stylist who has truly known how to cut my curly hair to help me look my best. She's also a terrific colorist. The area of the salon I have seen is clean and light. There is a big picture window near Leah's station. I'm always greeted warmly by the receptionist. Three cheers for Leah and the salon. I'm looking forward to my return visits!! read more

For months, I bounced around from salon to salon, never completely happy with anyone ... until I found Leah Fricano. I have been with Leah for over a year now. She is an expert at curly, unmanageable hair like mine. She helped me grow out my colored hair to its natural gray with a minimal amount of drama. If you want them, she will make suggestions but doesn't get offended if you don't follow them. I bought a groupon for a cut and full color. I didn't expect anything fantastic because I did get a deal, but this was awful. I was rushed through my whole appointment. At first, the hair dresser, Jennifer, was welcoming and nice. My cut was very minimal with practically no styling. The next day I noticed that the bottom of my hair was significantly lighter than the top. I asked for dark auburn ( my natural color is light brown). My roots were dark, and the rest of my hair was my natural color. During the process, I wondered if she was doing it correctly since she only applied color to my roots and washed the color into the rest of my hair but since she is the professional I figured she knew what was going on. When I called the next day and asked to have it done correctly she told me she had to charge me! For her mistake! I called to speak to a manager and was called back by Jennifer and borderline harassed. She got defensive, blamed me for the bad dye job and acted like she was doing me a favor. I will never go back and should not be forced to pay for her mistake. Now I wasted my money and have a bad dye job and was treated very unfairly. read more

I came in for a haircut last week with Heidi and have absolutely LOVED the result! Walking in, the salon was beautifully reiterated and felt very welcoming. There were some jewellery and other small things for sale, as well as an array of coffee and snacks available to make anyone immediately feel comfortable. I came in a few minutes early, but my stylist was ready to get me and start right away. I had a great time chatting with her, and although I didn't have an exact idea of how I wanted my hair to come out looking, but she was able to create a plan for me that I loved. She showed me how to style it and it's even easy enough that I can actually do it everyday (for me, this is huge!) Not just was Heidi great, but the owner, Mila, also came by to check on me during the process. They were both wonderful and I cannot recommend my experience at Jolie enough! read more

I went there about a year ago for a living social deal, the place was ok nothing really special and quite frankly expensive for the experience. I was grossed out by the fact that there was a little dog just hanging out at the "Spa". Had I seen the dog before I was mid pedicure I would have asked for my money back since that is not the proper place for a pet. read more

I got a gel manicure and pedicure here for a conference I was going too. I needed the manicure to last about a week, but in less than 48 hours half of the polish had chipped off my thumb nail (this apparently happened in my sleep). Since I was flying out that morning, I ended up having to find a salon near the conference I was attending to get the gels removed and my nails redone. The pedicure only lasted 5 days, which has to be some kind of record. There was not a trace of color left on my nails at that point. So disappointed. It was terribly inconvenient. read more
