I am extremely disappointed with Joline Pet Spa & Boutique and feel compelled to share my terrible experience. I took my dog, Blu, here for grooming on 12/13. Later that night, I noticed he was squinting his left eye and barely opening it. I waited two days, hoping it would improve, but it didn't. When I called to express my concern, the lady at the front desk showed little to no empathy. All she said was that it wasn't their fault and that I should take him to the vet. She also mentioned I could come in to view pictures and videos. Hoping Blu would improve, I ordered an antibiotic cream and waited. A week later, when his condition didn't get better and he was clearly in pain, I called back to express my worry and frustration. This time, the lady at the front desk was extremely rude and dismissive. She repeated, "It wasn't us, there's nothing I can do to help you. Take him to the vet or come in to see the videos." I decided to visit in person. Upon arrival, I wasn't greeted. The front desk lady just walked to the back to get the manager. When the manager came out, she pulled out her iPhone, showed me a photo of Blu, and said, "When he left here, both eyes were open, so it wasn't us." I explained again that Blu wasn't like this before his grooming. I asked to see the video, and she said it was an hour long and asked if I had time to sit there and watch it. I asked her to send it to me instead, and she refused, citing that other dogs were visible in the video. The lack of accountability was astounding. I asked her, "If I get into a car accident and my back starts hurting the next day, does that mean the accident didn't cause it because the pain wasn't immediate?" She brushed off my concerns, saying she's been doing this for 15 years and that if they had caused the issue, it would've been immediate. After 4 years of bringing Blu here, I felt like just another customer. No empathy, no accountability, no effort to make the situation right. I told her I wasn't asking for money--just some compassion during a difficult situation. Instead, I was met with defensiveness and dismissiveness. I finally took Blu to the vet, and the doctor said his eye issue likely happened during grooming--possibly from shampoo getting into his eye, unsanitized scissors, or rough handling during trimming. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They're only interested in collecting your money and returning your dog after a haircut. Please don't bring your loved ones here!!! Jolines used to be great, I've been going here for three years. The past year they have really gone down hill. They used to be extremely friendly and seemed very kind, now there are different faces behind the glass every time I come, everybody except the receptionist. They may smile and act nice, but they are just about money, and the second you have a complaint nobody speaks English. STAY AWAY Literally my dog used to love coming in and seeing his friends. Now he scurries away when we get to the door to the point I had to carry him in. I won't be back. Make your own judgement, I'm good, going somewhere else from now on! read more

I used to like this place a lot. The groomers are ok no personality or a smile. The place is colorful but the employees attitudes are just plain black and white. They won't accommodate you if you can't make it in on the day they specifically give you. They rather loose a customer then rather work with them. I personally had a new born and couldn't take the dog during the week. It was just a hassle having to bring down my new born from the car in a car seat on to a stroller and walk down the street with a dog and a new born to just drop the dog off which takes 2 min. I asked for a Saturday appointment and they said "there's no groomer that can deal with your dog on Saturdays" mind u my dog is 14lbs shitzu probably the friendliest dog you'll ever meet he doesn't even bark at any one but they don't have any one to deal with him on a Saturday? & I told them I can't bring him during the week. It would help if they actually had a parking lot but they don't they are located in the middle of a block and on a super busy road . I also told them my situation and they didn't care. Not even a consideration that I said I'm doing everything alone . Honestly I wouldnt want to take my dog here any more after that who knows how they're treating my dog in there since they claim he's so difficult to deal with. I rather go else where any ways. This place is just right up the street for me so it was convenient but I recommend finding another place. read more

To say this place has gone downhill is an understatement. The customer service used to be much better, now there is no accountability whatsoever, only excuses and broken english. Steer clear!!!! I used to brag to friends and spread word of mouth for Joline's, but after this last go around we are finding a new groomer for our baby. This place will be out of business soon. Don't voice your displeasure with the owner or the staff otherwise they will get ghetto on you. I will no longer be using them, think twice and form your own opinion. If you want five start service for your pet this is the spot. My family and I have been taking our dog (Archie) here for the past year. Recently we moved over an hour away. We tried other places but nothing compares. They take their time and make sure your pet is perfect every time. I realized no two places are the same. Joline pet spa & boutique only cares about money, and not about the care of your pet, they want to get money from you in any way. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET IN THIS PLACE. READ THE PAPER CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING! I scheduled an appointment for today and when I arrived at my appointment they gave me a form to sign, which said anything that happens to the dog the salon is not responsible for any damage caused. I asked the secretary for How long will my pet be ready? the secretary said 4 hours or more with a really bad attitude and I told her why it was too long and then the secretary told me that it was normal and everything seemed strange to me, first the form and then the aggressive attitude of the secretary. in which I became distrustful and told her that I would not leave my dog ​​there. Then the secretary called the owner of the place came out telling me that she was not going to return my deposit because I did not sign the consent for them to do whatever they want with my dog. The owner of the business was very upset and yelled at me and began to tell me that she was going to do whatever she wanted with her business. And I became even more distrustful because of how she behaved with me. I don't want to imagine how she treats pets if that's how she treated me, who im a human. Please do not leave your pet in this place. They are defenseless and you are the only one to protect them from this type of people. When i scheduled the appointment she never mentioned to me that I had to sign a form and that if I didn't sign it she was going to keep my deposit, at no time the owner never mention it and she doesn't want to give me back the $40 deposit in which the deposit consists of that if you don't cancel before 24 hours you would lose the deposit. but i was there Now I understand why they charge the $40 deposit in advance it is to force clients to sign the form that they have, thank God that I realized in time read more

I highly DO NOT recommend this place anymore, unfortunately, despite having previously great outcomes in the past. There was a miscommunication between me and the groomer/boss. As she asked me if I wanted my dog the same way as last time, the image of my dog in my head was when she got a bath and blow out but the groomer had another image in her head of a previous haircut that my dog had. I was disappointed in the haircut when I saw her, I really wanted to keep her fur because I love her fur, I do not like the shaved look (I cannot stress how much a pomeranian should not be shaved), and it is winter outside, she is freezing on our walks. I admitted that I did not understand the difference and I also apologized that I waited to express my feelings instead of speaking to her at the time of pick up. But the way that she treated me is unforgivable. There were zero apologies for the way that I felt about the haircut, despite who was right or who was wrong. She was arguing with me on the phone when I told her this is why I did not want to confront her in the first place because of the way that she was speaking to me. I said that I have anxiety when it comes to confrontation, I told her I was shaking on the phone and I was tearing up. She remained incredibly defensive and I could not believe her tone with me. It would have made me feel a million times better if she had just said "I am sorry you feel this way but this is what happened," - ANYTHING was better than her raising her voice with me on the phone and being adamant about me being solely in the wrong, when we BOTH could have done things differently. In conclusion, this groom experience was not good. I do not like this haircut, especially when she said they have notes on all the dogs and the first time I ever went I expressed HEAVILY that I do NOT want my dog to be shaved or have a short cut EVER. I'm disappointed in the way that she treated me (the boss and groomer are the same). Obviously I made the wrong choice in saying how I felt because she made me feel terrible for this. All I can do is wait and hope my baby grows her fur back the correct way. Please go ANYWHERE in Hoboken or Jersey City for a groomer. I never should have stopped going to my original groomer. I love there service, however they have been super super busy so I definitely would recommend setting your pets appointments in advance.

I don't understand all these good reviews because my first experience here was definitely my last. I called to make an appointment and everything seemed fine. I explained that I wanted my dog to be cut with scissors and not clippers. When I got there the person who I guess was supposed to do my dogs cleaning didn't even introduced herself to me. She immediately knelt down to my dog first and said " you're a hot mess aren't you, you've been playing around in the snow." First of all my dog is not a hot mess, how dare you speak about him like that. Secondly, you are supposed to introduce yourself to the owner first, not immediately jump to play with the dog. This is not playtime. I had to ask her what her name was, she didn't even try to introduce herself. I think it was Alene or Arlene. She began talking very loudly & obnoxiously, cutting me off when I was trying to explain to her how I wanted my dog to be groomed. She was very aggressive & had a nasty attitude. Basically it was her way or the highway and she made it clear that she didn't care if I stayed or left. She kept saying to me that she wasn't gonna argue with me when I asked her questions. Bizarre. I told her what I wanted my dogs hair to be like. Why did she keep saying it's not an argument when I'm simply asking questions and telling her what I'm looking for? You're supposed to listen to what the customer saying & asking for and then respond. Very poor customer service and not a good way to gain or retained clients. I would never trust my dog with somebody so aggressive and obnoxious as her. She told me about the pricing, but wasn't specific about what exactly she would do during the service. I kept having to ask her. I told her I did not want clippers used and I only wanted scissors used. She told me she would clean and cut the area around his face so that his eyes were more visible and cut his bangs, but she refused to cut his body. Please explain to me how you are comfortable cutting a dog's face, but not his body. That makes no sense!! I tried to explain to her that he has a brother who looks exactly like him and he had his haircut with scissors at another groomer. She didn't care; she said that the scissors might scare my dog, she even brought out the scissors to show me how they would sound. Do you think I don't know how scissors sound when they're cutting hair? Very disrespectful and condescending. No class at all. The entire interaction was aggressive & uncomfortable. Since she kept talking over me and speaking loudly, I decided that I did not trust my dog to get groomed here. You lost a potentially consistent customer because I live in the area. I will never come back here and I'm OK with traveling outside of my neighborhood to get great service. This is not it! Please be careful when choosing this location to groom your dog. My first time going there and the service was awesome. Usually when I take my baby to other groomers he comes out a little scared and I've never been satisfied with the cuts he gets. I've tried different places but I finally found a place I'll be going back to. My baby didn't come out scared, he actually looked happy, you can tell he was comfortable with the person who took care of him. Which for me is a big plus! They did exactly the cut I wanted for him too. You can definitely tell they care for our fur babies. Hope the service continues to be good overall they did a great job. I tries this place about a month or 2 ago and I fell in love with the way they treat my dogs. One of my dogs is actually aggressive when it comes to grooming but he came out very happy and with a great haircut. When I took my other dog a week later who suffers from allergies and they noticed right away and offered a special shampoo. He also came out looking amazing and happy. I'm very hesitant with groomers but they exceeded my expectations! read more

This place is fantastic! My dog's haircut is so symmetrical, 2 weeks later and it still looks like she just left the groomer. I have a rescued shih-pooh who is usually very nervous and scared of strange places and people, however she seemed very happy when we picked her up. SO PERFECT! I took my dog here and he needed a major trim! The groomers did SO well and he looks wonderful. He can be a bit fussy and nervous, but the groomer came out of the back and got right down to my pup's level. We will definitely be coming back the next time my dog needs a trim. I took my two dogs here and they came out looking soooo clean and adorable. The store itself was very clean and I loved the fact that there was a window that allowed you to look at your dog getting groomed.
