    Short rib

Heard this was the best restaurant in Dayton, and it lives up to the hype! The ambiance is very casual for such a high-end menu. Our waitress was super cool and we walked us through the menu and how it's made up of smaller, more shareable plates. We also heard that the menu changes seasonally, so the dishes we ordered are probably no longer available. The short rib was insanely tender. The Brussels sprouts were very rich with their barbecue flavor. I loved the miso corn cake so much - sweet and flavorful and a great appetizer. We also loved the cocktails!

This was one of the best meals I've ever had. I went here with a group and they encouraged us to order a bunch of shared plates for the table. We each got to try everything which is a better approach than just ordering one dish for yourself. The flavors and dish concepts were so unique and every single bite was delicious. Truly a one of a kind dining experience.

It's a small road trip from Cincinnati . It's a small gem in fire district. Reservations are highly recommended, seating is limited and they do have some bar seating . The Brussel sprouts which are a crowd favorite , were flavorful . The lamb burger was pretty good it was something sweet on it but not sure if it were in the bun or the toppings . If you want fries, It does come à la carte. My biggest gripe is them not having ketchup for fries but I went with it.( which was an interesting choice) they do offer aioli. The steak was cooked to perfection. Drinks were okay , but made it easy waiting on the food. I didn't love the smoke coming from the kitchen but exposed kitchens are cool .

Food - 5 out of 10, the Brussels sprouts were very salty, the octopus was such a small serving, and the chicken seemed basic at best. I have to assume this iteration of their menu was just not for me. Service - 9 out of 10 - cool folks and very kind Ambiance - 7 out of 10, nothing bad just nothing notable either, except maybe the artwork.

We had a show to go to at the Victoria so we did dinner here. It's different and it's delicious! It's small plates so you order several things. I had the Charred cabbage, the Smoked mushrooms and the Japanese chicken. The charred cabbage was a big wedge of cabbage grilled with great seasonings. The mushrooms were Tulip mushrooms deliciously smoked with wonderful seasonings. The Japanese chicken was breaded and fried with also great seasonings. But it was a bit chewy. My SO had salmon, Brussel sprouts and confit fennel. I tried the salmon and the Brussel sprouts. Both were delicious but the Brussels were a bit too salty. Overall, we loved it. As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!'

We sat at the bar to watch all the amazing food being prepared, these are our favorite seats

Always an outstanding meal at Jollity! Tonight we worked our way through the appetizer menu. I'm not sure which was my favorite but the Speck Toast was amazing. Sweet, salty, crunchy , savory. They make the food in such a small area, barely able to turn around and they are just quietly and professionally turning out the best plates to be found in Dayton.

9/22/23 Came here for a Dinner date night with my favorite person, my husband we were greeted upon arrival as we made reservations and were seated quickly. We sat at the bar because I love watching people cook. Sasha was our waitress and took great care of us. We ordered several various dishes and everything sounded amazing. We had the CFR - Crispy fried Japanese chicken with rice and vegetables, lemon oil shrimp, foxhole greens, fried Brussel sprouts, kimchi pancake, and matcha chess pie. Everything was spectacular and I loved my experience here the most. We will definitely be back here again in the near future.

What a great experience! Had dinner last night with my husband and another couple - we had Camille as our waitress and she was amazing with the knowledge of both the food and beverage menu and with suggestions for our table! Service was impeccable! Will definitely be back again

I came here with a friend based off their recommendation and it was overall a good experience. The Asian fusion dishes were creative and my favorite dish was the sesame cornbread. The greens salad was very underwhelming along with the Money Trees drink--both were overly earthy. The short rib wasn't anything special unfortunately. The chicken karaage was juicy and was served with two different types of spicy sauce which was delicious. The yuzu mousse was fresh and citrusy and had a surprise ganache-like sauce at the bottom of the dessert! The decor was minimalistic along with cute plants. We did have an item brought that we didn't order but they offered it to us for free which was a nice plus.

I went to Jollity with a girl friend on a Thursday night. We made reservations, but it wasn't very busy while we ate there. Our server was friendly and made great recommendations. I love the lighting and the ambiance, + not too loud. The kitchen has an open concept, so you are able to see and/or watch the chefs work if you get to sit at the kitchen bar. We both got the Koji-aged ribeye which was so tender and flavorful! So so good. It apparently never leaves the menu, because it's so popular. The crispy potatoes were well seasoned and the sauce on the side was not needed, but a great addition for those last few bites. A very cohesive dish. We also both had the space program cocktail, which is their take on a margarita. I had two so I liked it. We shared the yuzu mousse which was such a bright and light dessert! It has a little chocolate ganache on the bottom that adds a nice touch to the whole dessert. I love the unique fusion of flavors Jollity offers and that they rotate their menu every season (or quarterly, not sure). I'd definitely go back to try some other popular menu items and their new menu.

Reservations are recommended. Happily we arrived early for dinner, were warmly greeted, and sat at the bar. The cocktails were excellent! Although everyone raves about the brussel sprouts, I found ours over charred. Hubby still enjoyed them, but I found them too bitter to eat many. Everything else was absolutely delicious! The trout was particularly sensational because the skin was super crispy, while the flesh was perfectly tender and moist. Next time we'll be sure to dress up much better than casual, as this is a very good place for a nice date night.

There were a few options for thanksgiving including some pizzas and salmon. My girlfriend opted for the glazed salmon which came with rice and asparagus but she substituted the asparagus with mashed potatoes. I had their Thanksgiving fare which included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans. We ordered the Avocado Deviled Eggs for an appetizer. The Avocado Deviled Eggs were delicious, slightly tart, and had a salsa flavor. We really liked them. My girlfriend really liked her salmon. The portion was a really nice size. My thanksgiving meal was delicious. The turkey was really good, mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, and the green beans were cooked just right. Green beans a lot of times have a tendency to be overcooked where they are a little soggy or undercooked where they are too raw. These were cooked just right. The stuffing was good but a little dry. But I'm not really a stuffing guy. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was in small jar topped with some strawberries! It was also and a great way to end the meal. My girlfriend had the Dark Chocolate Terrine. She said it was dense and rich in chocolate flavor. We did check out the outdoor area after we ate. This would be a really nice place to eat outside in the spring or summer. There was an igloo-style structure you could eat in during colder months. I giving this establishment five stars. We had a 3:30 pm reservation, arrived at 3:00 pm and were immediately seated. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and the food was really good. It's a trendy restaurant with clean restrooms and this would be an ideal place to eat at with friends and family. It has a casual vibe, not overly classy but still special. Drink options were plentiful and we had a lot of fun! Highly recommended!

The Foundry stays open late (food til 10 pm) so it was a great option. I sat at the bar and had the following: -Bbq short rib (3.5/5; pretty tasty. Short rib was tender and bbq sauce had a nice kick. The rice wasn't cooked properly so it was hard. I wanted to like this dish more...I think the traditional pairing of short rib w mashed potatoes would have been better) -Deviled eggs (3/5; these are mixed w avocado which makes them unique. Unfortunately, the flavor was lacking and needed some spice (Dijon, salt, pickles?) I wouldn't get these again -Oaxacan old fashioned (5/5; this old fashioned was made with tequila and mezcal and a flamed orange peel. The smokiness of this drink was super satisfying) Overall, the drink was amazing, service was great and food was alright.

A favorite for brunch, we booked dinner for a Friday night. Phenomenal experience celebrating the holidays with a small group of family and friends. We already loved Table 33 for lunch or brunch, but had never experienced their dinner menu.... Now, it's our favorite Dayton-area restaurant for any meal, snack, or cocktail. (Do not sleep on their wine list though, fabulous assortment and available for retail purchase) Friday night dinner reservations and we were floored with the recent dining room updates - including new dining venues off a hallway, each with its own unique decor (including a unique chandelier in each) and a truly decadent and unexpectedly private environment. Seating for 4 and above in the varying spaces. After dinner, we booked the guaranteed add-on table reservation at the adjacent venue, 'The Dessert Room'. A well-appointed room with a European decor and upbeat music settles you in for a delightful list of desserts, from gelato and macarons to pies and cakes, and a nice coffee, port, wine, or cocktail menu. The service is amazing. The food and cocktails, phenomenally good. The venue? Truly gorgeous. The owner is reinventing another adjacent property next to 'The Dessert Room', currently a mix of a Mexican fare (bowls, burritos) and tequila. Previously a coffee shop, interested to see what it ends up being to tie these venues together.

Today's adventure brought us to Chef Danes first restaurant, a global comfort food diner called Culture. Culture is a pleasant, if a bit noisy at times, visceral experience of its namesake. The menu full of unique yet familiar dishes and ideas Invites one's culinary curiosity yet doesn't become unapproachable. On a different day I would have tried their Louisiana catfish, but today Patrick and I were on a mission. The specials were calling. Patrick and I have been trying to slowly become part of the Dayton community and Patrick's new job at Little Fish (a nearby bar and restaurant) has propelled us to dive further into our exploration. Patrick was made aware of Cultures new specials, a Thai cheesesteak and chicken tikka masala fries. We had to try them. So on this crisp and cold mid spring afternoon we decided to become cultured. First off we got the Chicken Tikka Masala Fries and we were quite impressed. I'm not the most familar with British Indian food (maybe a bit more than the average midwesterner but not by much) and the fries definitely brought a pleasant experience that Patrick an I enjoyed...but we didn't finish all of it at once. We saw a glimpse of what was to come and we didn't want to eat to fast and fill up to much. The picture I took does not do the Thai cheesesteak justice. It just had a certain presence coming off of the kitchen. We were sitting at the bar watching it all unfold for the most part and the smell was subtle yet hypnotizing. we finished maybe 3/5ths of the fries and waited for the sandwich. Once it got to use I cut it in half, Took as good of a pic as I could, Gave Patrick his half, And dug in. It might have been a bit too hot resulting in me burning my tongue but the flavor was encompassing. I could taste all the elements coming together in such a unique groove. Could be chalked up to just a damn good cheesesteak, they tend to illicit similar responses, but still. The first words out of my mouth after finishing that first bite were "holy shit". I then maybe finished the sandwich a bit fast but I couldn't help my self, i had to have it. It was so damn good. Well worth trying while they have it. To say anymore would spoil the experience. Anyway, I've rambled enough. I encourage you try Culture for yourself! Thank you. Drew, from Dayton

First impression was it was very small with narrow passageways for both staff and customers. Clearly most people come for the steaks, which are very good. But the rest of the menu is circa 1950 and uninspired. The only included veg choices were stewed tomatoes or veg of the day - boring green beans with sliced almonds. Everything else was an up-charge. And what's with the local supper clubs and enormous hash brown patties?! Maybe give me a couple $ back if I don't want potatoes. Folks at the bar were great, and table service was prompt and efficient. I was disappointed that our server said they couldn't do anything to recognize my Mom's 83rd birthday "because we don't have dessert." But the server at the table next door to us was really creative-she put a candle in a dinner roll and wrote Happy Birthday on a dinner roll for her client. What a nice gesture! For the one place people save for special occasions, you'd think the Pine Club would take pride in making them special. But for a place that brags about only accepting cash and making a US president wait 30 minutes for a table, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Been there, done that, don't need to go again.
