When I see a great deal via email, I always call them to place an order. They always tell me about additional discounts they have on other seafood. This time I saw a great deal for 8 whole filets of the Black Cod fish. So I called and they told me about specials. I got an additional pound of king salmon, halibut, Coon shrimp (a native type!) and a few jars of salmon caviar eggs! I already had the caviar eggs with my breakfast and simply wow. So fresh. I steamed the black cod whole filet with some ginger and wow wow wow. Hubby could not get enough of it! Highly recommend if you need to buy fresh seafood delivered straight to your door. Recommend to watch for email specials and call directly ! My absolute favorite! Could not recommend more highly!

Big chunks of REAL big shrimp- not some ground up mess that you're not sure what you are actually eating here- absolutely delicious and I highly recommend buying them. Great company too and my box always arrives with my seafood still frozen and fresh!

We…read moreunderstand that fish processing is seasonal and good help isn't always easy to find however it just seems like the last 3-4 years of processing has been challenging enough to decide to just go back to doing the processing ourselves next year. Custom, like the other processors in town were honest and let us know right up front that they were very busy and on some days even stopped taking fish after certain times, even telling us one day they couldn't guarantee fish to be ready in less than 72 hours. We worked around their policy and availability and dropped off our catch. Like most anglers, we filleted our fish prior to bring it into Custom for sealing, freezing and boxing. We gave them our departure date and being we were flying out early morning, we were told we could pick up our fish the evening prior at 7pm. When we arrived to pick up our fish at the agreed time we were told that all the people who handled our fish had already gone home for the day. We argued that we were following their pick-up direction and one of their employees heard our concern stepped up and said she would help us with our order. After about 15 minutes some of our boxes of fish were boxed and ready to ship. After all that and getting our boxes of fish home is when our real problem began. When we arrived home and started dividing up our salmon and halibut it was very obvious that this was not the fillets that we dropped off. Both the halibut and salmon fillets were much smaller fillets than the fillets we dropped off. From that it appeared that we received someone else's fish and someone else got our nicer, bigger fillets. Both the halibut and salmon fillets we received were much thinner and smaller portion than the fish we dropped off and it was disappointing enough to just say "for the price we paid to end up with someone else's fish, forget it, we'll do it ourselves next year". Whatever their reason is whether their processors are short handed, over committed or maybe they just put everyones fillets in a general fund and when you come to pick up your 50 pounds, you get what they give you out of the stock? The fillets that we dropped off for processing look just like the ones on their webpage, but the ones we brought home weren't even close. Going forward, we'll do it ourselves to guarantee we go home with the fish we caught.

She was angry with a customer on the phone when we arrived. Then she pretty look down on my friend and I - even before we utter a word (while she is on the phone). When we asked about the pricing, she just told us (again in angry tone) to come out with her with the cart. Well aware thursdays catch would need to be processed and ready for pickup sometime before noon friday. Always told, not going to be a problem. Come thurday, was told they could not process thursdays catch for friday and possibly couldnt have it done for a couple days. I didnt have a couple days which they knew it. When reminded I fly out friday and was already promised friday would not be a problem, they didnt care - said we cant do it. Ended up mixing the new filets in with the processed filets then vacuum pack them myself after getting back home. No matter if you ask ahead of time, they have no problem telling you one thing and doing another.

    Shrink-wrapped meat: it's what's for dinner…read more During our recent trip to Alaska, I was dragged to Echo Lake Superior Meats by my husband's Alaskan aunt and uncle because it is the Home of The World Famous Jalapeno Cheese Spread and because we were in the throes of a meat emergency. Apparently, dinner (which was being cooked by the Alaskans) required something called "Reindeer Sticks," and as any Kenai-area native knows, for Reindeer Sticks you go to Echo Lake. Echo Lake is straight-forward and no-frills, which I imagine is exactly what one seeks in a superior meat shop (since I'm not allowed in the kitchen unless someone needs another martini, it would be a stretch to consider myself skilled in meat-seeking-missions). White floors, white walls, clean white cases full of (you guessed it) meats, smoked local fish, and spreads of all flavors and sizes. While we browsed the meat aisles, the friendly staff brought out some fresh cajun smoked salmon and asked if we'd like to try some. Yes! Delicious! That night, in addition to the meat sticks, the family devoured not one but two tubs of Jalapeno Cheese Spread, which is kind of disgusting in retrospect. Man, that stuff is addictive! (It would be perfect for pre-Thanksgiving meal snacking around the fireplace or TV set, depending on how your family rolls). The reindeer sticks were, of course, delectable, with nary a leftover in sight. While at first glance the meats seem a bit pricey compared to the crap they serve us down here on the mainland, this place offers truly top-notch foodstuffs. I am eager to test out their online ordering system for specialty sausages, gourmet deli treats, smoked alaskan fish, gift boxes, and fresh seafood.     So, my neighbour has been nagging me for some time now to call in to "that place with the railcars"…read morejust outside of Soldotna, but I'd not yet been. Though she hadn't mentioned there was a restaurant, she raved about the coffee shop and waffles. So my friend and I were coming to Soldotna last weekend, and me, as usual, am frantically searching Yelp for something with 4/5 stars. Addie Camp came up as a contender, with a solid 4.7 stars, but I hadn't realised it was where the railroad cars are. So we decided to give it a go. What a beautiful area it is, once you get up into the parking lot! It's very neat and tidy, and all the little railroad cars surround the central parking lot. And there's really massive solar panels to the rear. I liked that. There was not a scrap of trash anywhere. Very inviting. So we head into Addie Camp, and I'm wowed. It's beautiful inside, cosy and welcoming, yet very modern. The staff are lovely. The hostess asked if we had a reservation, but as we didn't she invited us to sit at the bar. No problem! They have tables upstairs, and in a railroad car to the side. It's absolutely beautiful, and features a lot of warm wood, but not old wood, very light modern wood. I tell you, I'm in love with this place. Anyway so we sit at the bar, where Sam was mixing cocktails. Sam is very pleasing on the eye, I might add. He was using Fevertree Tonic in one of the cocktails, and I told him that Fevertree's Elderflower Tonic is one of my fave drinks ever, and he said he loved it too. Anyway, so upon perusing the menu - it's not a huge menu, but there are plenty of things I'll eat - I ordered the Gold Star Elk Burger with rosemary fries, and my friend got Gambas Al Ajillo (Spanish style wild Patagonia Shrimp in a spicy olive and herb citrus sauce served with fancy bread) and we both opted for a Train Track Tonic Mocktail, mainly because Sam the bartender told me he had elderflower syrup, and it was featured in one of the mocktails, so I was sold. The napkins are fabric, and the silverware is fancy, heavy, not your usual restaurant fare. I was quite impressed with how quickly we were served, because it was quite busy. The food itself was outstanding. The bacon jam in this burger is EPIC and it's not your usual tiny bacon crumbles, it had chunky bits of bacon, and was sweetly gooey, but savoury too, absolutely the best bacon jam I've had, and it just gave the already amazing burger a boost it didn't even really need. There's no way to eat this burger in a dainty ladylike fashion, it's a beast, and the bacon jam is messy, but I went with it, and Sam got us some extra napkins. About 3/4 of the way through, I had to go knife and fork on the burger. I wasn't leaving any of that thing. The fries were good, the burger good, the mocktail good, excellent service, very attentive. This is unquestionably THE best restaurant on the Kenai Peninsula, and I can't wait to come back with my husband, next time we're down there. And, I did see regulars come in and be treated like they were old friends. After my experience there, I can see why people would keep coming back, it's THAT good!
