Service is quick and efficient, which is a big plus during a busy workday. They also offer complimentary infused water--not just your average cup of water--which is a nice touch. On my first visit, I ordered the teriyaki chicken power bowl. It looked a bit small at first, but it ended up being surprisingly filling and satisfying. First off, I should say the day I went they were clearly short staffed. There was one person working the register and making all the drinks, and then one person making all the food. I really feel for restaurants when they are understaffed and there is a huge line. We waited a long time for our food, considering we just ordered bagels, but we also understood due to limited staffing. Unfortunately when we got our bagels, they were cold, and also didn't have the toppings they were supposed to come with. Has the usual stuff like the fair trade coffee. If you need something to eat you can also get that here. The açaí bowl is healthy and not as expensive as at some other places. It's about $9 for a good size bowl. This comes topped with bananas, blueberries, chia seeds, coconut, granola, raspberries, and strawberries. It has prices that are expected. It's a cute little cafe. I ordered the tropical haven smoothie. They only have one smoothie size and it is large (20oz). The smoothie was very delicious and quite sweet. My complaint is that the price was very high! The smoothie cost almost $11 with tax, which is ridiculous. I was already mentally committed to getting the smoothie before I saw the price. Coffee was smooth and tasty, but I wasn't impressed with the pastry. I'm guessing that it hadn't fully thawed out yet, because it was still a bit cold. They could have at least heated it up? Now we know it's not freshly made.... It's a cute little place in Dupont Circle. There is both seating inside and out on the patio. Free wifi available too. They offer a variety of drinks and food items; from bagels and sandwiches, to coffee and juices. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular here. * I got the pastry because there was a minimum $5 charge for card transactions. read more

I can't believe and don't understand why this place is only 3 stars! I should definitely be 5! I was in town visiting a friend who lives in DuPont and we wanted something for breakfast, but not a full sit down restaurant so we searched Yelp and found this place. So happy we did too because it is a hidden treasure. I had the avocado toast which was so so so good, it was served on a ciabatta and came with a side of delicious fruit. I had a hard time choosing what to get because they also had a few different acai bowls that sounded so good too. One person in our group got that and said it was great. Also had a cold brew coffee which was great, but was also intrigued to try one of the smoothies. They have a really great menu, with a ton of different and healthy options. The best part was that everything was soo inexpensive, had a large coffee for $3 and the toast was less than $7. No where has prices like that anymore. This spot would also be great to come to if you needed to get some work done, saw a couple people with their laptops. There is also a cute alley outside which would be nice in the warmer weather. This place has one of the best chai tea lattes i've ever had. Not 5 stars because I can't comment on the consistency (I've only been here twice), but it's so good! When I lived in the area and worked nearby on the weekends. I would pop in to this little [almost hidden] coffee shop. I remember a gentleman named Farouk. I don't know if he owned/operated or just operated the shop. He made THE BEST CHAI TEA I HAVE EVER HAD. I still have not been able to get chai tea that comes close. I miss it. Coffee's good, service is bad, patio is very small, and they have the unique distinction of actually charging more than Starbucks for a frappucino-type drink (improbably named the "ice rage", perhaps for the emotion it creates when you pay?). Seriously, the prices here are in need of downward adjustment: a large latte from Tryst is about 25% larger for the same price. Do yourself a huge favor: take five minutes and walk to Tryst (just north on 18th) or Java House (17th & Q). read more
