Stopped into Emissary to get some work done while I had a break from teaching yoga classes. Here's everything I loved and didn't below ... + loved the empanadas, highly recommend the beef ones. The sauce that comes with it is delicious and they're only $4 + WiFi was strong and easy to get into + there was seating both inside and outside of the cafe + the team quickly remade my chai because I didn't know that they put whole milk in all of their drinks + unfortunately I didn't feel the most welcome by the team. + didn't love the chai and despite it being a non fat milk added it still made my stomach ache a ton plus there was a ton of cinnamon + when I ordered the chai they didn't ask if I wanted the medium or large option and just assumed the large Probably won't be back unless I'm teaching in this area and just need a coffee shop to get work done at or if I'm craving empanadas.

Egg & Cheese Sandwich

Stopped in for breakfast before a tour of the nearby Mansion Museum. Very chill, neighborhood vibe. Service was excellent, food great, and coffee perfect. I especially enjoyed the smashed avocado toast with bacon, some of the best I have ever had. Give this place a try!

Decent little coffee and breakfast spot in a low level entryway. Love that they paired the egg sandwich with a salad. Service was ok, and inside wasn't anything to write home about. But, food and coffee were yummy!

Iced vanilla latte

Good iced coffees, friendly staff, lively atmosphere. I've stopped in a few times to grab something quick and it's always busy and a good place to people watch or get some work done.

Matcha Latte and Almond Croissant

Hey now my YELPies!!! Stopped by this quaint little coffee shop on my way to a Yoga retreat in DC. So cute with outdoor and indoor seating with music you will sing to while ordering (Yes, it was a personal karaoke coffee experience )It had the feel of a coffee shop and bakery in the little cobblestone street villages in Spain. The customer service was so personal and my Matcha Latte was made with the most care and her obvious love of matcha. I had the Almond Croissant and when I say.. FRESH.. it was FRESH!!! I am most definitely a sucker for small businesses and especially when they love on their patrons. YELPies... if you're in DC, stroll on into this cute little coffee shop and sit back enjoy the love!

Arepa

Delicious! I had an Arepa con queso with the side of avocado and a green smoothie and it was a perfect meal. The service is very courteous and people are kind. I do think they need to put a limit on how long people sit out doing work at the tables because it seems egregious and is inconsiderate to other customers.

Iced Latte, fruit, chocolate croissant

Enjoyed the coffee and the pastry. The server was nice! Just a little bit pricey for what I got.

The food was excellent, but a bit pricey. Coffee was outstanding. Service was very friendly. Outdoor seating made for a great ambience.

Vanilla latte and chocolate croissant

I came to Emissary to have coffee with a friend on a Sunday morning and really enjoyed it! I ordered a vanilla latte and a chocolate croissant. Both were super tasty and went particularly well together. However, definitely not the cheapest latte and croissant of my life! We sat outside on the patio, which was lovely. There is also seating along the wall inside the coffee shop. There was only one person making coffee on a Sunday morning, so it took a while for our drinks to be ready. Overall a great vibe and tasty coffee!

Favorite coffee spot in DC. Friendly staff, great beans (they use counter culture) and a fun menu for a quick breakfast or lunch.

This time we had our baby and I wasn't impressed with the lack of sides or anything to get for her. We asked for two eggs scrambled with cheese but were told we'd have to buy an egg prosciutto sandwich for $11 and tell them we didn't want any of the items. Um, no. The tuna sandwich asked for lettuce and told can't add lettuce. My husband asked for something not on his lamb pita, same story. Oh well. No customization at all, no subs. Makes business easier, but not as attractive for price point for customers. I'll remember to keep it to coffee and pastries from now on. Chicken pita was good, a bit heavy on the parsley but loved the dressing. Tuna sandwich was a hit. Pastries are always good. My pistachio latte was chewy bc it had grainy bits of pistachio in it. Not to my liking. $70 for three sandwiches, two coffees and two cookies.

A five-minute walk towards downtown from the Mayflower hotel made Tatte Bakery an ideal spot for breakfast. It also has nice views of Farragut Square. I went with the House Full breakfast that included Applewood bacon, eggs, potato fritters with tomato jam and mint parmasean, and house made sourdough. I was curious to try one of their best sellers - monkey bread, and it didn't disapoint. A solid breakfast with on point service before catching the metro to Virginia. I really enjoyed my visit here and would return in a heartbeat.

I paired this with ROASTED STRAWBERRY. They literally roast the strawberries before adding to the gelato. It tastes like real strawberries! It was phenominal, and my favorite of the two if I had to pick. My daughter ordered the PISTACHIO falvor, a traditional gelato offering. It was extra dense while creamy delicious. I sampled the OLIVE OIL soft serve. It tasted predominantly like vanilla. I wouldn't order this one. Expect a long line coming out of the storefront. It moves reasonably quick and is worth the wait!
