Espresso martini - a must try!
    Amanda D.

Met some friends for cocktails on a Friday night. First impression - loved loved loved the oyster shells that made up the planters for the landscaping. I thought that was super cute and gave a sustainable feel to the decor. Cocktail list was substantial and everything I tried was delish. I tried the Mermaid, Blue Hawaiin (I think) and the Espresso martini. All were amazing - well mixed, strong and good presentation. Our server, who we referred as Debbie Downer, was just that. She just didn't seem to want to be there and was not very welcoming at all. I noticed another server laugh and joke with her tables and was instantly jealous that they were having a better experience than us. I guess with not a lot of competition, you don't really have to hussle for your money, and clearly Debbie Downer gave no fucks. That was disappointing. Please note, that the closing time for the restaurant is 9pm, but for the Oyster Bar, it just says "open til late". I don't know what this means...we arrived at 8pm and cashed out at roughly 10pm. There was still about 4 or 5 tables actively drinking and eating, so again, I'm not sure what "open til late" means.

My husband and I LOVE going to the oyster bar. It is our go to date night spot and always like bringing people who visit from out of town! Everything I've had on the menu I've really enjoyed!I've reviewed Jonah's restaurant, but didn't realize there was a separate yelp for the oyster bar! Head over to the other yelp page to see a very detailed review! Most recently, we came for date night and had: Seafood flatbread (our favorite... get it extra crispy!) Chai tai tuna (slightly spicy/peppery but sooo good especially with the dipping sauces) Oysters Rockefeller (can't go wrong here obviously) Clam chowder (soooo sooo delicious) We had left overs of the pizza which tastes great warmed up in our toaster oven lol. Drinks/cocktails are yummy. I had Moscow mule and a green-tea-tini (not sure if that was the exact name but it's listed on the drink menu). Usually I go with a dirty vodka martini, but decided to change it up! Environment is relaxed, but still nice enough to dress up! Dim lighting makes it romantic. Seating is first come first serve. I've only had to wait for seating 1-2 time, but we usually come on weeknights so that may be why! Overall, you can't go wrong with the iyster

I walked in with modest expectations, and I felt like Uncle Buck's managed to meet my expectations…read more The food is decent - nothing special, but a competently made shrimp po' boy sandwich. The prices were okay for a restaurant attached to a tourist attraction (go to Holy Crab just a few minutes to the west for much better seafood and more reasonable prices). The drink selection was decent, but a little pricy by Peoria standards. Still, everything was good enough that I don't regret stopping here even though the bowling lanes are kind of beat up. Since I went pretty early, I was ahead of the crowd, so service was fast and there was no wait for a lane. I certainly wasn't expecting PBA quality lanes, but these were in rough shape even by Budget Family Fun Center standards. The selection of beat up plastic house balls were about what you'd expect from a family bowling alley, and had fun designs on them. The oil was almost non existent on the right side of the lane, and patchy during most of the run. I switched to lefty, and had a better time. It's almost impossible to get consistent throws given the condition of the lane, but it was still fun just crashing pins for an hour. If you want better seafood, go to Holy Crab. If you want a significantly better bowling experience, absolutely go to Potter's Alley. But, if you have an hour to kill, and feel like knocking a few pins down during lunch, Uncle Buck's seems okay. I feel like I got my money's worth, their decor was pretty cool, and I picked up some cool stuff at the adjacent Bass Pro.

Who closes at 8 on a Friday? Terrible business. This would be a fun thing to do for families that's…read moresafe after dark. But closing at 8 leaves minimal time. Do better
