Portion sizes have no correlation to prices whatsoever, we comically ended up with a tiny slab of grouper costing the most for the table, my delightful gumbo poured into a slightly small bowl, a tuna salad sandwich as only predictable platter for its price point, and even though asked to upcharge from greens to clam chowder the shrimp etouffee somehow turned into an extra full ten dollar bowl. It would be maddening to see price gouging if the food was not an ideal set of ingredients. Unlike an unfortunate city grill in downtown San Francisco last June, this chef has full skills and quality meats. Gumbo and clam chowder are rich and show off delicate proteins blended well into harty sauces. Tuna salad sandwich disappeared before the rest. Grouper, alas for its budget cuts because we needed more of that high class Caribbean cruise cuisine. But the nachos, they won the party, we started off with them and the next day continued to comment how annoyingly small they were. They desperately need an XXL size option for big table sharing! The cocktails seem also silly for the prices so I avoided them. Little in the tiki fashion to befriend the entrees and oddly not much house seasonal drinks either, was fine enough when I learned the Anchor Head brew blew my doors off! A fantastic lager, smooth, clean, easy to drink, that is how we like it. Staff was spot on to first ask about drinks while we waited for a table then escort us to one that opened up minutes later. Everyone was in tune throughout the night and we never felt waiting for service. Paying attention to the pennies, this is still a decent option alongside the excellent Kemp 208 in Morton and 2cheys in Peoria for indulging, relaxing, and meeting up to get those great land and sea meats. read more

Really great vibe inside, service was prompt and pleasant great cocktails. Had the steak sandwich added fries and onion soup. The soup wasn't what I was expecting. But it was delicious. Had 2 slices of bread instead of the usual single and was really perfect that should be the new usual. Steak sandwich was delicious. Tell the owner to keep their opinions in Florida where they are half the year and bring back the crab quesadilla. Met some friends for cocktails on a Friday night. First impression - loved loved loved the oyster shells that made up the planters for the landscaping. I thought that was super cute and gave a sustainable feel to the decor. Cocktail list was substantial and everything I tried was delish. I tried the Mermaid, Blue Hawaiin (I think) and the Espresso martini. All were amazing - well mixed, strong and good presentation. Our server, who we referred as Debbie Downer, was just that. She just didn't seem to want to be there and was not very welcoming at all. I noticed another server laugh and joke with her tables and was instantly jealous that they were having a better experience than us. I guess with not a lot of competition, you don't really have to hussle for your money, and clearly Debbie Downer gave no fucks. That was disappointing. Please note, that the closing time for the restaurant is 9pm, but for the Oyster Bar, it just says "open til late". I don't know what this means...we arrived at 8pm and cashed out at roughly 10pm. There was still about 4 or 5 tables actively drinking and eating, so again, I'm not sure what "open til late" means. read more

Wowwww! Amazing and the food portions are HUGE!!!!!!! The place had a great feel as my siblings, myself, and mom went there with my son who lives in Peoria for a Saturday lunch. The fish & chips were sooo wonderful and it came with fries, coleslaw, peas, and don't forget the bread. It was beyond amazing and wonderful and well worth the trip as we came 80 miles from the southwest. It had a great atmosphere as you could be dressy, casual, or take a family or a date, a wonderful place for a celebration as the view from the river is breathtaking. I left stuffed and it was well worth it. I cant wait to go back love, love, love this place, and come hungry you will love it I do and its a must if you love seafood. Wonderful, kind, staff as well. Used to love this place, MGR came over to our table to 'replace' our old menus...my 89 yo mom joked "oh the prices probably went up..." well they did... my moms up $6, others almost as much...portions were tiny when they came...chowder was too thick and barely warm...should have been smarter to just let our one table be the mistake you, the MGR made...will not be back. read more

We came on a Friday night, very busy and it's search out a seat yourself kind of seating. We got two seats at the bar. The oysters were a must have- loved them! I like the cocktail sauce, horseradish and cracker setup after a splash of lemon on the oysters. I ordered for my main the Pascale Shrimp. Maybe a little over seasoned for me. The martini drinks were good and they had an interesting selection. I had some sort of green tea martini. I will be back! read more

My husband and I LOVE going to the oyster bar. It is our go to date night spot and always like bringing people who visit from out of town! Everything I've had on the menu I've really enjoyed!I've reviewed Jonah's restaurant, but didn't realize there was a separate yelp for the oyster bar! Chai tai tuna (slightly spicy/peppery but sooo good especially with the dipping sauces) Oysters Rockefeller (can't go wrong here obviously) Clam chowder (soooo sooo delicious) We had left overs of the pizza which tastes great warmed up in our toaster oven lol. Drinks/cocktails are yummy. I had Moscow mule and a green-tea-tini (not sure if that was the exact name but it's listed on the drink menu). Usually I go with a dirty vodka martini, but decided to change it up! Environment is relaxed, but still nice enough to dress up! Dim lighting makes it romantic. Seating is first come first serve. Crab and Shrimp nachos were great as an app. Gumbo great as usual. And the sunset view from the Quarter Deck of the city of Peoria skyline across the river was nice. Shrimp Pascale was said to be spicy, but is more of a dark Indian spice like saffron, did not like nearly as much as past entrees. read more

Absolutely horrible service. We had a party of 7 and were told that if we waited for others to leave, we could put two tables together in the back. After waiting for 45 minutes, we finally were able to get two tables together, but we were told that the tables couldn't be combined. If they had let us know that in the first place, we would have gone elsewhere. The wait staff here is rude and couldn't care less about providing decent service. These people seriously were such jerks that they should be ashamed to call themselves Midwesterners. The food is nothing special either. The crab tortilla dip was bland and the seafood quality is average at best. Stay away. read more

Went here last night for celebration of a new job. Lounge atmosphere with seat yourself booths and bar, and music pumping. Both a lively and personal vibe! Me party & I ordered half a dozen oysters and the shrimp and crab nachos to start. Oysters are to die for, had to go back in for another half dozen, but I could go without the nachos. They were good, but didn't quite have the flavor I was looking for , but I can definitely see how some people would like them. I ordered the crab cakes entree with lemon dressed greens and my partner ordered the cheeseburger with fat fries. Crab cakes were fantastic, especially with the greens, cheeseburger was good but got soggy and inedible fast, and fat fries paired best with cocktail sauce! Not a classic remoulade here, sort of spicy barbecue-y? Which I wasn't a huge fan of. Overall, great date night or celebratory spot, on the pricer side but if you get anything, get some oysters and crab cakes! read more
