Been trying to resolve the problem for MONTHS and all I get are rude comments and requests for more photos. They will only communicate by email. I'm writing an update in response to the comment below by Jonathan Adler SF. It is true that after writing this review, they refunded my money. However, they made no effort to contact me about a refund, it took actually having to go into the store on my own accord with my receipt to get my money back. And of course, my duvet was not refundable since it was the store model. Thus, I now have an incomplete set. Additionally, when I tactfully told the sales person that I was disappointed in the service, he interrupted me and told me that their company policy was not offer refunds, and that he was making an exception for me. Really? That's an interesting store policy not to refund for products that don't arrive. He treated me like he was doing ME a favor. Really, really disappointed. read more

This is my favorite store in Pacific Heights. The staff is uber friendly and never forgets my face. In fact, when I recently visited, the one dude asked me why its been so long. Now that's customer service! I agree with one other reviewer, while I LOVE LOVE the stuff, I wouldn't do a whole apartment with the style as I think it would be a bit much. While the furniture is gorgeous, it's very expensive. As with anything in life, the accessories are slightly more affordable and make wonderful accent pieces for the room. A "dog friendly" store with dog unfriendly "land mines". This stuff is expensive, so if you plan to bring your dog in here keep a careful eye on them. The store reminds me a of mix between an Apple store, Urban Outfitters, and a retro vintage store. There are quotes on the wall such as "Unleash your inner hippie". There was this one sculpture of a medium sized peace sign hand that I thought would make a nice gift. Turns out it was $239! I wanted to go deeper in the store but changed my mind after seeing the store was crowded with a lot of bourgeois women armed with "dog jewelry". Overall I was pretty underwhelmed. read more

Bought Parker Floor lamp at the SF store. Shipping was expensive - 10% of the price so the total was ~$680. But the worst part happened when the lamp arrived. It comes in 14 pieces to be assembled (not very common for high end furniture?). Few parts arrived screwed together and needed to be separated before assembling. Some of those parts had rust and I had hard time separating between them. And to cap it off, I couldn't finish the assembly as one of the parts got stuck inside another instead of going through it. So the lamp looks unfinished. The bottom line: looks good but the quality is nowhere near the price you pay. read more

I had to write again about this store, because they keep impressing me with their customer service. On May 1 they were having a 15% off sale and it just so happened that I needed some accessories to redo my home office. They made sure I got everything I needed and shipped another item to my home when it wasn't available in store. The employees were pleasant and friendly. Jonathan Adler has never been a "cheap" place to buy things, so you will pay for them, but I am always really happy with my purchases. read more

the minus star is for the designer being such a weirdo on tv. but i guess you need to be eccentric to come up with all the cool stuff in the store. there are lots of pillow cases, vases, tableware, candles (were a little stinky for me), and knick knacks for your house or gifts. they used to have nice bags but they don't carry them anymore. the staff is friendly and helpful and they gift wrap - a definite plus in my book. the boxes are a bit on the flimsy side so do be careful when handling. you wouldn't want the item to slip and break! read more

I love the blues, browns, and greens predominant in the color palette and the curvey, modern shapes on the pillows, rugs, dinnerware. The nested lacquer tables (available in conventional black, brown, tiffany blue, among other colors) are eye-catchers, while the 16-piece dinnerware set was the most reasonably priced item at $100. If you're looking for cushions featuring the Union Jack (in all color variations), or for a cookie jar labelled "Prozac"--look no further, this is your store. However, if you like Adler's "Happy Home" bedsheet set, hang on to that 20% off Bed Bath & Beyond coupon and buy it there instead to save yourself a bundle. read more

I can't afford the furniture here, but the staff never treats me like I can't. But I go in whenever I'm on the Fillmore, because the way it smells and the bright colors on modern shapes and the shiny lacquers make me happier than San Francisco on a sunny day. My review is for the .com not for the store... however, the store lists the same .com so I'm putting my review here. Basically, I placed a holiday order and they kept delaying shipping and FINALLY got it to me the day before it was needed. Unfortunately, they screwed up the order! One of the items shipped was a smaller, cheaper version of what was ordered. I called and sent email and no one ever got back to me. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until I disputed the charge on my AMEX card that I got them to contact me. When they did contact me they offered no type of "customer service" and it was like pulling teeth to get them to credit me back the difference between what they send and what I had paid for and then it would ONLY be when they had confirmation that the AMEX dispute had been withdrawn. To add to the poor customer service there was no real apology for their mistake and no offer for anything in the future. If they think I'll be back they have another thing coming! read more

At first, this place annoyed me. Too precious, too Self Aware, too...marc jacobs-y of the home decor world; narrow, everything looked a little too similar, too "I know about Interior Design and that piece is Jon Adler!!!". I'm coming around, though. Could be because the staff in the store is rad (and does not seem to take itself so seriously), could be because the design seems to have broadened a bit, could just be because I'm in love with the new metallics. Could also be that it shares its name with my favorite professor in grad school, who had good jokes. read more

It would a very, very bad thing if this store was located closer to my abode. Very bad. I would probably impulse buy constantly. And pretty soon my place would be a like a showroom, I kid you not. I really like his aesthetic but I do wish it wasn't so late 60's/early 70's oriented. But I also think that he doesn't intend for you to redo your entire home in his pov. Small doses will do. I walked into this store in Chicago by accident and fell in love with the style. I wouldn't do my whole house like this, but they have great accent pieces. I was so happy when I found the store in San Francisco. Unfortunately the salt and pepper shaker I wanted was out. Jonathan Adler makes some of the cutest items for around the the home. My particular favorites are the pillows and of course and they have a great selection here. They also have a really neat custom fabric section that leaves nothing to be desired. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. I left with two little white squirrel's. read more

Beautiful, colorful, clever things... alas I cannot afford them. They had a beautiful hashish candle for 68, a small water cup and lid cup (looked like a capsule) for 48... just a happy store. Lots of unusual animal shaped ceramic objects - my friend got a beautiful whale pitcher from JA though not from this store. I will definitely come back for more eye candy. read more

I love Jonathan Adler products but even more so I love the customer service at this store. Tyler the Store Manager is excellent at her job and she has made me a life time customer. I had an issue with some lamps I ordered and even though they came from online, Tyler assisted me as if she were with me when I purchased them. Turns out the Jonathan Adler store is just a showroom for their furniture catalog. Items can be ordered at the store and will be shipped from their warehouse in New Jersey. Here is where things become strange: I was about to order some side tables the other day, when I noticed shipping charges added to my total ($ 50) - but I was going to pay the shipping charge to get the tables shipped to their Fillmore Street location! How weird is that? - Sure, you expect certain items not to be in stock or on backorder, but to pay for the store to re-stock the item? No, thanks.... read more

Thursday was my birthday and what I wanted was to go to the Jonathan Adler store. I took my friend, as we are (were) both huge Jonathan Adler fans. We spent an embarrassing amount of time oohing and aahing over his book. So we made the 3 1/2 hour (one-way) trip to the Fillmore store, filled with excitement. Imagine our reactions when we were not even acknowledged in the least by the gentlemen behind the counter. We were rather blatantly ignored, I suppose because we were not dressed like debutantes and it was assumed that we couldn't afford anything in the store. (Big mistake.) I have two Mr. Godfrey chairs from Jonathan Adler - love the fabric and the chairs and had excellent service from the store manager. The workmanship on the chairs is HORRIBLE. One was replaced...second is worse. There is no end to the increase in ripples that show up in the fabric on both chairs. Absolutely no quality control. read more

One walks into the land of whimsy when stepping into a Jonathan Adler store and he wants you to know it, feel it, be it, live it, and freakin' buy it. The overtly, self-conscious, playful attitude of his "Garage Sale Chic" can be both interesting and annoyingly memorable like the motivational oriented slogans on the wall: "Liberate your inner hippie"; "We believe Minimalism is a bummer"; "We believe tassels are the earrings of the home." Actually, the sayings are just annoying! Kitschy-nouveau-I-don't-care-don't- worry-be-happy stuff. Regardless of "Jonathan's Manifesto," (reminiscent of Derek Zoolander) his design eye believes and recreates an aura of lite, inviting play. Or is it foreplay? The big stroke of genius was getting the SF based artist Rex Ray to display/sell -in store- his hypnotic collages (mounted/ lacquered on wood). Ray has done everything: rock concert promo posters, paintings, and graphic design with an array of clientele including David Bowie (hotness). Ray's collage pieces range in size and are reminiscent of Gustav Klimt gone pop art. These are a must see if passing the Jonathan Adler store. read more

Quirkiness is one of my favorite traits. Although I'd seen JA on TV, I didn't realize what a sense of humor he had until we ventured into his shop yesterday. Cookie jars were festively colored but labeled "uppers", "downers", and "quaaludes" and vases which seemed just textured from afar are in fact a dream come true for a breast man (or woman). Everyone who worked there was really friendly and helpful. I was surprised at how reasonably priced the pottery is and found a little Utopia vase which I bought and looks great on my mantle. Being fooled into thinking that everything in the store must be reasonably priced, I asked for the pricing on this little print and was surprised to be told it was several hundred dollars - but the person helping me was still so nice even after seeing the shock on my face at hearing the price. It was a really fun experience and a great place to see design with a twist. read more

I wandered into the JA store yesterday, which happened to be Easter Sunday, and was greeted by the 3 nicest sales and staff people I have encountered in ages. I had my dog with me and they were super welcoming of her. I wasn't dressed in a way that said I was carrying lots of cash, though I was. I looked around and they were there to answer my questions but didn't interupt my retail head space. I didn't buy anything yesterday but will definitely be back. They have great gifts for people who have everything. The on,y reason I didn't give the last star was because they are overpriced, even for what they are. They woukd do much better if the knocked down the prices 10-20%. Everything I picked up and put down, I woukd have bought on the spot but the excessive prices made each item a decision rather than an impulse purchase where a little lower price would have sealed the deals. read more

I adore Jonathan Adler's stuff and have found it to be great quality and super stylish. I went into this store to see if I liked a $3,000 light fixture I saw online. I have to say, it was so horrendously displayed that I just couldn't pull the trigger. Many of the arms were bent out of shape, it was incredibly tarnished and there were 10-15 different white and yellow toned light bulbs installed. Each arm of the chandelier had a different tone of white or yellow to it because of the peace meal bulb situation. It really looked like crap. I asked the people who worked there about it, and they just laughed and said it had been around the block and loaned out to many people. If someone directly associated with Jonathan Adler saw how it was displayed, they would have been horrified. I opted for another fixture from another designer, because the light looked so bad in person. The display should have be given more thought and attention. read more

Some of my favorite classic furnishings were purchased at this store, though I left the SF-Bay Area a few years ago. Recently, some of my Chippendale chairs cracked at their stress points, which was very disappointing, and while I have since relocated, they were unfailingly helpful in replacing the frames and shipping them out of state without any cost to me. I want to applaud a company that stands by their product - thank you, Jonathan Adler! I am a happy customer and wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. read more

I was not as lucky apparently as all the other, "amazed and dazed" customers that have reviews here. I purchased 2 pillow shams and 2 pillow cases for the tidy sum of $195 from their on line store. The photos they used looked amazing so I assumed the outrageous price was for some very luxurious bedding. WRONG! The fabric is thin, thin, thin with a faded print on it that is really something that should be thrown out and not sold. I was hugely disappointed by the look, the feel, and the quality of the fabric. In looking closer I can see these are Made in China. No problem really, except in this case instead of using better fabric and more labor in the details, the whole product did not cost Mr. JA more than $10. So a nice tidy profit for him of $185. Not bad at all, except how long do you think that will last before customers start to figure this out? Oh...and you have to love this...absolutely no returns. On what planet does a firm not accept returns? Well, obviously the planet that this guy and his firm come from. You just have to love the gall of some people and some firms.
