I have a bath mat from here that is black. I bought it over 10 years ago and it is the best thing I have ever purchased. It is still a deep black, has not faded at all. It's starting to fray a little, so time to get a replacement but the quality could not be beat. Expensive, yes, but I'd rather pay more for something that lasts than have 15 Ikea bath mats that go to the landfill. So many colors to choose from as well. This review is for a product. Purchased Leitner linen sheeting. Very expensie and they wait was long, special order. The bottom sheet lasted less an year before completely shredding. Samuel Scheurer did replace it with another product, but that didn't last another year. Today, I noticed the top sheet has holes in it--4-5 years after I purchased it. I cannot recommend Leitner linen. I am replacing with Linoto products, while not as elegant, they do not shred. read more

Every time I do my laundry, I'm reminded of how disappointed and disenchanted I am with this place. Months ago I bought a set of towels. The shop guy told me they were on sale because they were being discontinued - the colorways had variations in different orders. I specifically asked if the color would remain the same through washes for the towels I wanted to buy - they said YES, no problems with the towels they already had. A couple months or even less into having the towels and washing them in cold water only, the towels went from beautiful to ugly - the beautiful grey/blue went to a greyish color with yellow and brown tints. I keep using them because I have them, but get sad and disgruntled whenever I see how much they have changed from the original color (I included a wash cloth in the picture that I've only used/washed once). Again, this color change happened within the first couple months or less and with proper washing. I felt lied to. I never went back because I feel if they took advantage of me once, they'd just do it again, and I believed they were final sale. Don't trust their sale items, they're on sale for a reason. This is definitely not the place it used to be. read more

I also appreciate that the staff at Scheuer treats me like a fancy lady, offering me water and other refreshments while I browse. When I win the lottery Scheuer will be one of my first stops. Superbly duperbly high end linens. I recommend the Legna collection, made in Italy. It's made of beachwood cellulose fibers. Who knew wood could feel so satin-smooth on the skin. All my guests who have slept on these sheets, duvet covers, and pillow cases melt away in my bed! But I warn you...it'll cost you an arm, leg, liver, and kidneys. It's worth it considering I spend more than 1/3rd of my day or my life in bed (if I'm lucky, *wink*wink*). read more

Great place to buy gifts. I have to admit that pone of the only reasons I have been in this store is that it is conveniently located next to the Sutter/Stockton garage. I love just browsing here! I wanted to upgrade my old polyester-filled pillow that went flat as a pancake after 4 years of daily use. This is an excellent place for finding high quality pillows filled from goose feathers. They have Heirloom, Saint Lawrence, La Jord, and the ultra high end Europa pillows all made from Canadian goose feather down. All the pillows from St Genève come with white cotton pillow sheet protectors, all are hypoallergenic, and made in Canada. Customer service is excellent here; you can sit on the bed to try out all the pillows from their 4 pillow lines. The salesperson was very patient with me as I tried all of the 12 pillows available here. I'm glad I got my Canadian goose down pillow here. It'll be good for another 5 years. read more

I purchased a lovely item of this store. It's a shame that the store employees, with the exception of Vanessa, were a complete turn off. I specifically made eye contact with three of them (two older woman and a gentlemen sitting at a desk in the center of the store). Each of them saw me and then proceeded to act as if I was not there. I probably should have just walked away. Instead I bought with a beautiful candle and left with sinking feeling in my heart. How rude! I will not be shopping there again and I hope others are able to avoid this experience. read more

Anyhow, she would throw dinner parties with the best napkins and her house was filled with delightful linens from Scheuer. I even have some towels from here that have withstood the test of time. I have a French traditional unique home with lots of fancy furniture that matches that era. I was able to find a comforter and sheets that give that traditional look. I searched elsewhere for something unique like this but couldnt find that look. I searched from Monterey to Cotati. This place has the best selection. Yes, a little pricey but at least you will not have to drive to all the othere little stores in the Bay Area to find something nice. Highly recommend it. read more

This is a simply gorgeous store, right near Union Square. It's not huge, but it has a stunning selection of very fine linens and home accessories for bed and bath. The displays are works of art. The quality of the merchandise is absolute tops. They're actually a little pricey for me, but I was looking for a very special, hard-to-find item: an Eastern King lightweight "blanket cover". These lightweight covers are typically used in place of a bedspread or comforter during hot summer months, but mostly in the East or South US, not around SF. Sure enough, I found a perfect one at this store, with the help of a very knowledgeable salesman. It was a pleasure to sit and be waited on and get just what I wanted. They didn't have my size in stock, but sent it to me (no shipping charge) and I received it within one week. Top drawer, all the way. I'd say go there if you're looking for high quality (heirloom type) linens or accessories or if you want to buy a wonderfully special gift for someone you love. read more

I have known this business since 1975, as I was the Admin. Assistant for Wamsutta Linens, now called "Wamsutta Home Fashions." I wrote special orders for them. and they were always grateful and appreciative, and understanding when their orders were delayed. I visited their store and was truly amazed at the excellent quality of all of their merchandise. When I left Wamsutta (in the former Flood Building at Powell and Market Streets), Mr. Scheur gave me three beautiful linen handkerchiefs with my inirtial embroidered on them, along with embroidery on the edges. The linens are of the softest and most luxurious fabric I have ever seen or touched! I still have those 3 handkerchiefs, which I decided never to use, and to keep as a wonderful reminder of "the good ole days". Happy to know that their son is now running the business! Now I will be able to buy outstanding quality linens for our new dining room set. I recommend them highly! read more

Everyone is exceptionally nice and very knowledgeable; and whatever you can think up, they can probably do. They're ideally located right below the Sutter Stockton garage, and they have the most gorgeous towels, bed linens, blankets and blanket covers imaginable; their table linens are exquisite and every size, shape, embroidery style and colorway can be yours. Yes, it's expensive - the best things usually are. And it IS the best - old San Francisco wouldn't think of shopping for bed, bath, table and powder room linens anywhere but here, and it's worth every dime. I've had some Scheuer linen sheets for 30 years and they just keep getting better with age. The owner, Mark Scheuer, is terrific, creative and very sensitive to customer needs, as are all the other salespersons - in the end, you DO get what you pay for, and this shop is timeless and simply the best. Their things last for years and are heirloom quality - I have my grandmother's tablecloths from Scheuer's and they are still in wonderful condition. Scheuer's is tops in my book. read more
