This is one of those places you are hesitant to review because you don't want the word getting out. So if you read this review, you have to promise me you won't snap up anything I want here in the future, ok? My experience dealing with Carlos was great, and I'll definitely be a repeat customer. I've been following their website for a few months now and they consistently have interesting, affordable mid-century pieces rotating through their inventory. I think they said there are updates on the site every 10 days, but the RSS feed seems to have something new every two or three days. Since there isn't a storefront (it's run from a storage unit in Portrero Hill) this is the best way to check out what they've got on hand. I ended up going to meet Carlos at the storage unit for a pair of lounge chairs and a dresser. Normally I'm extremely hesitant to purchase furniture sight unseen, but everything I saw in person was in such impeccable condition that I regret not putting down a deposit on the dresser - by the time I showed up the next day to check it out, it had already been snagged by some lucky jerk (Carlos had told me that someone had put down a deposit on it earlier, so I knew this was probably not going to work out). Instead I had to "settle" for just the chairs, which look fantastic in my place. He even wrapped everything up in plastic wrap for me since the person who had my Zipcar truck the hour before me had apparently used it to transport their collection of dirt. I was looking for the perfect mid century modern dresser for my bedroom. I found one on 1stdibs.com that was what I was looking for. It turned out this dealer was in SF, so I went in person to take a look. We met Carlos at a storage facility in Potrero Hill to view the dresser. It was in superb condition. We looked at some of his other items, and they were all so cool and in great shape. Clearly Carlos has an eye for design and attention to detail, because the refinishing was excellent on the pieces we saw. We purchased the dresser and arranged for delivery, which was prompt- the next day. The dresser arrived wrapped in moving blankets and was carefully set up in my room, and it looks awesome! I will definitely be doing business with MCMF again, I found everyone to be highly professional, friendly, and prompt. Additionally, I have my eye on some other things we saw. read more

I really appreciate the passion Christine and Carlos have for mid century modern furniture. They are great curators of furniture from designers like Wegner, Baughman, and Pearsall, just to name a few. In addition to being great owners, Christine and Carlos are such nice people; so fun and easy to work with. They are super cool. My husband and I have many furniture and art pieces from Mid Century Modern Finds. We constantly visit their website to see what current offerings they have cause we want more. Whatever you buy from them, you'll know that it's authentic and in the best condition possible. You can also count on knowing its history and information on the designer. Since discovering Christine and Carlos, they have become our "go-to" place for buying furniture. Their prices are reasonable, and compared to buying new furniture, you'll find that in many ways, you end up with a better value and better built furniture. Last year, we were interested in a pair of Kipp Stewart Declaration night stands by Drexel that were hard to find. Carlos was kind enough to keep looking for us and when he found a pair at another dealer, he helped to facilitate the transaction. When my boyfriend and I moved in together we decided that we were only going to buy furniture we loved. We had no real furniture to our name and we were set on only buying things of quality, things that were timeless (i.e. pieces that could transition with us if we left the spot we were buying for), and could last a lifetime. The only *problem* when we found Mid Century Modern Finds, was that everything was so beautiful, so incredible, and so well made/restored, that we had to spend hours on the site trying to narrow down what we needed to get our home started. We ended up with a coffee table and a credenza and I couldn't be any happier with them. Not only is the quality exceptional, Carlos and Christine were beyond wonderful to work with. We fell in love with a teak coffee table that we saw online. After hemming and hawing over it for a couple of weeks we set up an appointment to see it and a credenza. We did get a bit confused finding the location, but Carlos spotted us and we figured it out. Once inside, we were thrilled to find the pieces were in excellent condition. Carlos cut us a bit of a deal for buying two pieces and arranged to drop it off the next time he was going to be in Oakland. He even gave us some glue and good advice to help us fix a table we had at home (that we did not buy from him). But that's not where our experience ends. After just a month with our lovely new coffee table, our (adorable, but jerk-face) cat knocked over a vase of flowers, spilling water all over the table. This happened while we were out, so by the time we got home the water had soaked in and left a bunch of unsightly water stains. Carlos arranged to have us drop the table off and then fixed it for free. It looks just as good as the day we bought it. This is customer service that goes well beyond what is or should be expected. We will definitely be back to purchase more from MCMF in the future. read more

I can't sing enough praises for Mid-Century Modern Finds (in fact - they've motivated me to write my first on-line review!). I looked for a danish modern teak extending table for months and was thrilled to find one from MCMF in excellent condition at a very reasonable price. From my initial conversation to the product's arrival here in NC - every transaction was handled promptly and professionally. We had one small issue, and when I contacted Carlos and Christine, they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure everything ended up perfect.
