I have met with a few surgeons over the years in an effort to (potentially) resolve a rhinoplasty that a previous surgeon did not do correctly. As you can imagine, hunting down a surgeon you trust to do a revision rhinoplasty is not mentally or financially easy. After a few sessions/appointments with this office, I can confidently say after my last visit that I am no longer interested in returning. On top of that, some of the procedures are much more expensive here than other locations. I am keeping this review somewhat vague and summarized to avoid making it too many paragraphs. Overall, I cannot label this facility as unprofessional, but what I can say is there was a consistent feeling of uncomfortable energy when I came by for appointments. It began to feel like I was bothering Dr Pontell when I would make comments or ask questions in person. In addition to my previous rhinoplasty, Dr. Pontell also did an upper eyelid lift for me. I had a bit of droopy eyelids that bothered me by how they looked in pictures. My eyes always looked halfway closed in pictures. I knew Dr. Pontell would do an excellent job on my eyelid lift and he did. It's very nice to know that you are going to someone very experienced and that you don't have to worry how things will turn out. I understand suturing due to my own job and the goal of perfection in getting tissue closure with them. I can tell you the sutures he did on me were perfect. I know that it really is a skill to be able to suture that well in order to prevent scarring. I wasn't really aware of this procedure for eyelid lifting a few years ago but I am so glad I had it done because now I don't have to worry about it getting worse as I get older. My friends saw me just a few short days after the procedure and even while I was still in the healing process I just walked in and without being prompted they told me that my eyes look amazing. I feel like my face just looks more correct and more proportional now. I started to put on some foundation on the other day and for the first time ever I felt like I didn't need to pile on a huge amount of eye makeup to accentuate my eyes or "put my eyes on" before going out somewhere...I felt like for the first time ever I could get away with wearing very little eye makeup in social gatherings because my eyes just look so nice and that felt great. It really is amazing how much these procedures can make such of a big difference even if it's just something minor you want to have corrected. I had a rhinoplasty done in September 2017. It was clear to me when the bandages came off that it wasn't great. The tip of my nose remained quite large and pointed downward. I pointed this out to Dr. Pontell and he BLAMED ME that I didn't ask him to raise the tip more. He then reminded me that he has done thousands of these and he's right about...whatever. It's been a few years now and I hate my nose. I look like a witch. It's horrible. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. Hopefully I can find someone else who can fix this mess. read more

I saw Dr. Pontell twice, once in his Media office and the last time after he moved to his current office. Both times I found him incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Both times were for consultation on two different procedures and the second time I had planned to get Botox and filler as well. I tend to be generally nervous about procedures and have a lot of questions and concerns based on research that I have done. Dr. Pontell allowed me plenty of time to ask my myriad of questions. I want to Dr.pontell for a rhinoplasty. The whole process up until surgery was a breeze and excellent service.My nose look great right after the stitches came out but shortly after I noticed A straight depression line which seem to be an attempt to create a nostril crease. It was only made on one side and did not seem natural at all so when I spoke to him of this problem his resolution was to inject temporary filler or to take cartilage from the back of my ear to put it in the depression. I didn't expect it to be perfect but after all the swelling went down I started to see more and more of how not so clean cut and polished his work truly was. He did help my initial Problem , but ended up leaving me with a new problem which I now have to take care of somewhere else. It was just disappointing and I have an entirely new insecurity now with the weird side of my nose. To Top it all off Dr.Pontell personally called me after seeing this review to tell me basically that he did nothing wrong and it was probably my fault because i probably did something after surgery, mind you i had seen him right after the surgery and told him every concern i had right after surgery and weeks following the procedure and he was fully aware of my concern. read more

This doctor quoted me $2,500 to have Fraxel laser resurfacing on just my nose, which, after consulting with a few other doctors for the same procedure, I realized was an insane rip-off. Overcharging patients might be a doctor's preference, but it comes off as unscrupulous to me, so I'm happy I went with another provider. His office is nice; however, it was completely empty the entire time I was there. I'm disappointed that I wasted $75 on the consultation. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Pontell's for many years now and initially had several surgical proceedures at one time and not even my best friend could tell that I had "work" done. I am very, very happy with my results. Since then I have used fillers and occasionally botox. I don't understand the commentary by one who called him a fake. He is a highly skilled surgeon who takes all the time needed to make his patients comfortable and never pushes for them to do anything they didn't suggest on their own. His receptionist is a straight-forward, no nonsense type but very efficient at her job. I've never seen her play nurse. Jonathan Pontell is fake. Look through Google Reviews and you'll see the majority of his "reviewers" only have ONE review on their account and fake sounding names. They are PHONY accounts created solely to give 5 star reviews for Pontell. What does this tell you about Pontell's practice?! NOT good! Neither is his work ethic. When I went in for an under eye filler consult, his secretary was blunt and unfriendly, and apparently she doubles as a nurse. How this is remotely professional is beyond me. Before I even saw Pontell, she was pushy and insisted she apply numbing cream under my eyes, even though I kept saying I'd never seen the doctor. How could the doctor see my under eye area properly with cream on it? Things only grew worse when the doctor came in. First of all, he did not even wash his hands. Second, he immediately started throwing out argumentative, sarcastic remarks left and right. He was also factually inaccurate, saying you can only inject Juvederm Voluma in the cheek bone area when the official site says it can be used in the apples/apex of the cheeks and the hollows of your eyes. WTF? Yet another cocky plastic surgeon who thinks he's God with a scalpel and can treat patients like crap. I've been to doctors like him before and it never works out. AVOID! read more

Dr. Pontell is a true artist and I am so happy that I chose the best in the area. After doing extensive research online in the Philadelphia, and New Jersey areas, I narrowed it down to him (based on the before and after pictures on his website and the fact that he specializes in facial plastic surgery) and booked an appointment for consultation. At the consultation, he took the time to discuss what I wanted, took "before" pictures and then graphically altered the photos to what the procedure would look like after surgery. He didn't try to pressure the me into making a decision right away and I left the office stress free. I called back to book an appointment a few weeks later, and I was given a date to come in to fill out paperwork and a date for surgery. Although I did feel rushed the second time I was there (the paperwork), I had to put myself in his shoes-the guy is BUSY. While I always hear people say that they need to feel "comfortable" with the surgeon, when it comes to good surgery, the most important thing to consider is a surgeon who will do the BEST JOB and Pontell is your guy. Your surgeon is only going to be with you for the duration of the surgery (which you will be asleep for) but your face will be with you the rest of your life. read more

Dr. Pontell is a board certified cosmetic surgeon. I am pretty sure that he is probably an amazing cosmetic surgeon. However, I seemed him out for facial filler injections. I generally like to use a board certified facial cosmetic surgeon for ny injections. I am not a philadelphia native so I found Dr. Pontell through the internet. Long story short, I spent upwards up $6000.00 over the last 2 months receiving facial fillers from him. It looks TERRIBLE. I am having to spend even MORE money now having it fixed by another doctor. My left cheek is lumpy and the skin and facial fatty tissues are distorted. I asked him if he could fix it and his response was that "nothing is ever going to be perfect" Wow, all of my friends and even a few of my clients have asked me about my face and the irregularities and lumps he left on my cheek he left but he doesn't think that it is a problem lol. He also said that he didn't want to make my coming in there a regular thing. I could not believe that this doctor needed to fix injections he did on MY FACE and was acting like I was inconveniencing him! I live and work in center city phliadelphia so coming out to his practice in Wayne getting my injections as highly inconvenient and expensive for me. When someone spends 6000.00 on facial filler injections they shouldn't walk away with lumps and irregularities all over their face.
