I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jones and the awesome staff at Tehachapi Dental. From my first phone call, I was given first class service. Nice, caring people, very prompt service, clean office, great coffee. Seriously the best dental experience ever. My crown was made in the office the same day. VERY professional office! From the staff at the front all the way to the back, full circle, you are treated as more than just a patient and welcomed with open arms. Everyone is very informative, and if they don't know the answer right away they won't fib their way around and instead will hunt down someone in the office who does. That kind of effort makes a huge impression, especially when it comes to anything medical/dental as things can be very confusing and knowing what to expect going in can help a lot with the anxiety I get when I'm at the Dentist. Both their doctors are very hands on, and take their time to get to know you instead of running from one room to another. The assistants in the back go above and beyond constantly running around making sure rooms are set up and sanitized properly, Each Hygienist takes their time while cleaning and making small conversation so it doesn't feel like they are just rushing from one patient to the next, and they even remember and bring up things mentioned at previous appointments even I forgot I talked about lol. The staff up front are very polite and knowledgeable, and to me the front staff can make or break an office since they are the first one's you meet when you walk in or call. They take their time to explain everything they can, and like I said before, if they aren't sure of an answer they will run back and ask someone in the back with more knowledge so I get the right info. 100/100 would highly recommend this office to anyone and everyone! read more

Visited Dr Michael B Jones for a routine cleaning in Sept-21. The Dentist did not even see me in person and then charged $72 for a 'Periodic oral evaluation' that I was told by Billing was for an oral evaluation by the Dentist. Apparently they charge $72 just to look at your dental Xrays! This charge was in addition to $125 for the cleaning, $90 for 4 bitewing xrays and $105 for 'additional diagnostic images' that the billing person couldn't explain what they were but just 'that they were needed. I had full mouth Xrays done in Nov 2019 at this very Dentist and since I have/had no dental issues except needing a cleaning I had the bitewings that were already charged at $90, so I can't imagine what these 3 extra images costing $105 were for and the staff couldn't explain the reasoning. The total bill for a routine cleaning came to $392 of which my insurance paid $170. This Dentist is out of network for my insurance but 2 years ago I had the exact same procedures-full mouth Xrays instead of bitewings and it cost under$170 which is the contracted price my insurance will pay to out of network providers. The Nov -19 visit cost zero dollars out of pocket and was 100% covered by my insurance...so why now with this very similar visit do I owe $222?!!! AFTER insurance. This Dentist gouges patients and is unethically billing for services.When I called to discuss the bill I was told they would not lower it even though they couldn't explain the charges in anyway that made sense.Very disappointing service. Dont go here unless you want to be ripped off!! 1 star. read more

If you don't follow the treatment planned they give you that you never asked for, they will fire you from their office with no warning.

I just found out this week that you either have to have really good insurance, that pays him a lot of money to work on you, or you have to have a lot of money yourself, in order to be a patient at his practice or he doesn't want you. My family, my extended family, and I have all been seeing Dr. Jones for many years, with no complaints, but this week everything changed. I received a certified letter in the mail telling me that Dr. Jones "no longer wanted me as a patient in his practice." Now, this was not because I did not pay my bills or because I did not show up for my scheduled appointments. This was because, after I came to him in May for an infected wisdom tooth and he gave me antibiotics and referred me to another dentist to have this tooth pulled, I have not yet had the money to complete his recommended treatment and have my tooth pulled. When I called his office to question the letter that I received, I spoke to a very polite office person who told me that Dr. Jones did not want to see me anymore because "I didn't follow his recommendations for treatment." She also stated one other time back in 2014 that I also did not follow his instructions to have a scaling treatment done on a regular basis and that Dr. Jones does not like to treat patients who do not follow his advice. The scaling treatments are not covered under my dental insurance and would have cost me $75.00 per quarter of my mouth, so that's $300 total, and I cannot afford that. In addition, I asked her why no one called me to ask about the reason I had not gotten my latest tooth pulled and she had no answer. If they had called me they would have found out that, due to the current pandemic we are in, I have been off work without pay. Moreover, being the only support for my family there was no way I could afford an expensive oral surgery to have my wisdom tooth pulled at this time. I had planned to have it done as soon as possible. What really boggles my mind is that it does not matter that I pay good money, for the best dental insurance I can, so that my child can see Doctor Jones every 6 months and get everything she needs. But because I put aside my treatment, at a time when the world is in turmoil, I get kicked to the curb and treated like I'm not good enough for this dentist to even see me if I have an emergency. Shame on you Dr. Jones for having no compassion, at a time when it is so needed, and for treating anyone the way you have treated me. Oh and by the way, my tooth is much better now since the antibiotics, and, just so everyone knows I happen to be someone who has always had very healthy teeth and this is only my third cavity in my 50 plus years of life and two of them have been wisdom teeth. I guess my teeth are just not bad enough to get the money Dr. Jones wants out of them. read more

I grew up having to go to the dentist way more often than I'd ever care for. I developed a bit of distrust over the years toward them as I got older I noticed procedures were becoming more expensive and more often needed as I transitioned from my parents money to mine. I went a long time without visiting a dentist. Not long ago I decided I had to stop neglecting my teeth and visited another in town. It was a horrible experience and my distrust grew even more so I vowed to not go back. Then I broke a tooth. My wife had asked several of her clients to refer a dentist and they overwhelmingly suggested Dr. Jones. Dr. Jones is a very nice man who obviously cares about his patients, not only health wise but financially and I'd even say personally. He examined my tooth and came up with a stepped game plan keeping in mind that he wanted to do what would fix my tooth but not jump to the most expensive option. His technique is very thoughtful and skilled. I did not experience much pain or discomfort even in the long process of a crown. He very obviously treats his staff very well. Their conversations seem to be about family and he seems to take a real interest in them. And I can honestly say the environment is very family like. His practice is very professional and organized. I very strongly recommend anyone looking for a dentist to give them a chance, you will not be sorry. read more

Dr. Jones is very nice but his office staff is rude. This afternoon I had an appointment for routine X-rays and cleaning. The hygienist kept screwing up the views and had to do the same X-rays again and again, stuffing all that uncomfortable digital equipment in my mouth over and over. Finally after sweating beneath the heavy lead apron for an interminable amount of time while she fumbled with computer imaging, I told the hygienist she had one last chance to get one more X-ray right, after which we needed to get on with the cleaning. So she got bitchy and canceled the cleaning, telling me that the front office made a mistake and X-rays are done separately from the cleaning. When I went to the front desk to pay, the receptionist basically told me that I was so "difficult to X-ray", there was no time left for the cleaning. I've been a patient of Dr. Jones for many years, but my family and I will never go back again. I won't be treated with disrespect. read more

I will never go back to this dentist. I was being treated for an infected tooth and I was in horrible pain. Whatever he did didn't work. I called and called his answering service and he didn't respond. It was a weekend. I finally found a different dentist who pulled my tooth thankfully because I couldn't stand anymore pain. I should have sued Dr Jones for making me lose my tooth. I called his office Monday and they said oh, sorry like it was normal. read more
