The facility is always clean, the equipment is well maintained, and there's a great variety of machines and free weights, so you never feel limited in your workouts. What really sets this gym apart is the atmosphere. The team creates an environment that's motivating, supportive, and focused on helping people reach their goals, whether you're just starting your fitness journey or you've been training for years. The trainers are knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to offer advice or encouragement. If you're looking for a gym that combines great equipment, excellent customer service, and an energetic community, Crunch San Lorenzo is the place to be. Highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their health and fitness!

Instead of explaining the policy, he was RUDE, dismissive, and made us feel uncomfortable. When we asked about a guest pass, he bluntly said no. After we came back with a buddy pass, he laughed in our faces. We were also never informed there was a $10 option to attend, which we would have happily paid. We ultimately left and went to 24 Hour Fitness using my daughter's membership, and had the complete opposite experience--staff and instructor were welcoming and professional. Time to change gyms.

Had a decent workout here over the holidays. They have some really great equipment that is hard to…read morefind elsewhere, especially for building glutes (multiple hip thrust machines from Peach Builder, RDL machine which I've never seen anywhere else, standing hip abduction, angled squat, you name it). They also have a ton of squat racks and benches available so you can probably always find equipment--we came while half the squat racks were taken because a class was in session and we (3 of us) still didn't need to wait for any equipment. My only complaint is that there is no designated room for the classes, so it can get really loud while they're teaching them because you have to work out in the same area. It would have been good to have a warning about that before.

Update, still a beautiful facility, very clean but I have some things I'm not crazy about…read more 1.It's stuffy, I don't know if they use the AC, but if they do it's still warm, like mid 70's feeling which is abnormal if you're used to commercial gyms which temps hover around 67-72 degrees. They recently put in two industrial sized fans, but it doesn't solve the lack of ventilation/circulation 2.They are always out of paper towels but they do have small microfiber rags available 3.The incline bench press has a platform for a spotter but it is too close to the wall 4. Their water filter says it needs to be replaced, I don't know if that is accurate or not, but I did try it and it tastes fine. 5.The parking lot gets tight, I wonder if the spaces are not regular sized because I have had to climb into the driver's seat through the passenger's side because someone parked too close even though I park pretty smack dab in the middle between the lines. For double the price of a typical gym points 1 and 2 seem very fixable. The rest are just small grievances, or simply observations. Still a great gym. Love the culture and appreciate the gym etiquette compared to commercial gyms. The trainers are knowledgeable and kind.

The Swimming Pool: It's the perfect temperature and not overly crowded. Also, people in the pool are very respectful. And the water is extremely well-maintained. It's definitely dirtier than my local City Sports in Sacramento. The worst part about this club for me is that the free weights were a complete mess. The dumb bells appear to be in random order and plates seem to be haphazardly put back as well. I got here at 5am when they open and there was an old plastic water bottle on the floor. Seems like no one is taking care of this gym. Not specific to this location, but City Sports Club needs to open earlier on the weekend. 8am is ridiculously late. Would love to see 6am or earlier Saturday and Sunday like almost every other gym does. With all of that said, this gym does have a good variety of equipment and I appreciate that City Sports has locations all over Northern California I can access.

What I love most is that Moxie is a women-only gym. Even when it's busy, it never feels overcrowded or overwhelming. The gym has lots of updated machines and equipment, and it's always clean and well-maintained. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. A special shoutout to Cassandra! She seems to know everyone by name, which really speaks to how dedicated and personable she is. She always takes the time to greet members and genuinely helps create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Thank you, Moxie, for making it such a positive place to get a work out in. It would be great to see some newer equipment and additions like a Smith machine or hip thrust machine. My sister and I had an uncomfortable experience when we visited together. A trainer asked us to swipe in separately, assuming we were trying to share a membership. The way we were approached didn't feel very welcoming or respectful. It's also frustrating to see the owners opening a new Pilates studio while this location still needs updates. And honestly, for a women's-only gym, it's surprising there's no childcare option. I think that would make a big difference for many members. I prepaid for an annual membership and honestly unsure if I will renew when the time comes.

I have multiple injuries and body issues that make it hard to work out. I was always injuring myself the moment I tried to do weight training on my own. With Awesta I give him feedback on when something is challenging or exacerbating an issue--I'm learning good form to avoid injuries. He is always responsive and finds modifications so I can stay engaged the entire work out. I also find it more affordable than I expected. I don't do the group classes though they look great, it's a bit too advanced for me given my limitations. Being in there a few times a week, I watch the entire staff cultivate a warm, welcoming environment where you/they say hi to everyone who walks into the space. It's also very diverse. I'm talking both staff and members, culturally, age-wise, body types, genders--no one ever makes you feel you don't belong there.

Rating: 4.5/5 - this review is based on one class…read more This gym is great for beginners and an older crowd. I didn't realize how much of a gym desert Castro Valley is until today. I'm originally from San Diego and there are plenty of gyms around my area. However, my sister did mentioned she lived in an older more suburban neighborhood. Unfortunately, I wanted more of a challenging HIIT class that you can find at Barrys or F45 (both of which are an hour away from here). With that being said, they do have TRX bands and assault bikes as well as a variety of weights. They also offer beverages between $1-$5. They were also nice to let you use the assault bikes before and after class. I was expecting more of an energetic and motivated crowd but it was more of a mellow crew of retirees and a preteen boy. It was definitely not what I expected in a bootcamp/HIIT class. Nevertheless, it was a great class albeit I felt like the only gym rat there. Earlier in the class, there was some confusion (partially because the trainer was also teaching people online) but he was able to modify some of the routine so most of us understood what to do. I never expected wanting to do more after a workout but this is a great class if you want to be challenged but not physically exhausted. I also recommend a voice amplifier and more prompts (i.e lift your arms above your head, etc) for the trainer as there was some confusion (maybe due to the music, his low tone or lack of prompts). Will visit again if I'm in the area as it's relatively close to where my family lives. Parking: Plaza Parking Recommendation: They have a first timer special - 3 classes for $50 that includes personal training but I would check online or in person to make sure that it's accurate. They also offer open gym to those with classpass!

The locker rooms and showers are cleaner and newer than the bayfair one but still a bit old. They have platforms for the powerlifting racks and this gym is also better for lifting as they have extensive incline benches, benching areas and smiths machines along with the run of the mill ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, rowing machines and free weights. I should have reviewed this place in January 2025 when a theif broke into my locker that was locked…read morewith a solid lock. They stole everything but my jacket and my shoes while I was swimming. They got my phone, wallet, keys (car, home, and office), towel, clothes, prescription glasses, toiletries, and my bag. I had to walk up to the front dripping wet to report it. The manager just shrugged and filled out an online form. He was unfazed. He just said, yeah, this happens at least once per week. Really??? And no signs warning us and no extra security? WTF? I called the police but they took forever to come and I had to leave to get home before whoever stole my keys and wallet (with my DL with my address on it) could get into our house. I had to call home to get my husband to come rescue me because my car keys were stolen. He had to bring me a backup pair of glasses, clothes, spare key for my car. Management was absolutely no help at all. They knew that this was happening regularly in their club and they were doing nothing about it! I spent $1800 re-keying my home, my office, and my car. I spent countless hours shutting down credit cards and locking down accounts while seeking replacements. I had to get new glasses. Management shrugged. I should have sued 24 Hour Fitness for the $1800 due to their complete negligence in no added security when they know that lockers were being broken into and members' belongings were being stolen at least weekly for at least 6 months! You can see the lack of care they take when looking at the facilities. I went again just last month and it was disgusting! Machines were run down and broken. They had no hot water. The men's locker and bathroom were filthy and absolutely disgusting. There were holes in the wall and there was missing tile. The Health Department needs to shut this place down. Corporate needs to fire the management and any custodial employees for mass negligence. So, don't join this gym unless you want your possessions stolen, to catch a disease from using the restroom/locker room, to get injured on busted equipment, and ignored by management if you need any assistance.
