Even though we live in Castro Valley, we try to find time to go to Iron Warehouse because it's worth it for the community. Leo does an amazing job of uplifting people that want to get into shape--and stay in shape! Truly, he creates a community in this little garage gym. His credentials are on full display through his extensive knowledge on proper form, mechanics, and motion of the body. He is not intimidating, but will motivate you to give 110%. Also, his payment plans are reasonable and won't burn a hole in your wallet. Michael pushes me to be the best I can be and I have no doubt that with his support I will be able to exceed my goals. I am a big fan of the open layout here. I don't feel cramped at all and feel completely comfortable/confident with the space they provide. They also have an abundance of equipment/tools for you to not only accomplish your own fitness goals, but to explore new ones as well. There are plenty of amenities and programs they offer for your to explore; however, I have yet to experience them so my review is limited in that regard. Ultimately, this is is a wonderful facility to repeatedly lift heavy things and put them back down, and I recommend you come check it out.

While I went to town leaving reviews for Waterworks itself, I realize the intimate culprit is City Sports. Their pool is constantly undergoing some sort of HVAC issues which leads to ongoing and almost weekly pool closures. For gym members, I assume you are hoping your gym membership includes access to a pool which means 9 out of 10 times in any given month you are dealing with a closed pool. City Sports, get your act together. Why is your pool closed so many weeks out of the year???

The Swimming Pool: It's the perfect temperature and not overly crowded. Also, people in the pool are very respectful. And the water is extremely well-maintained. The dumb bells appear to be in random order and plates seem to be haphazardly put back as well. I got here at 5am when they open and there was an old plastic water bottle on the floor. Seems like no one is taking care of this gym. Not specific to this location, but City Sports Club needs to open earlier on the weekend. 8am is ridiculously late. Would love to see 6am or earlier Saturday and Sunday like almost every other gym does. With all of that said, this gym does have a good variety of equipment and I appreciate that City Sports has locations all over Northern California I can access.

I was a member here for almost 6+ years, and I finally decided to cancel. The biggest reason for…read morethis review is 100% due to management. Over the last 4 years, my monthly fee was going up. I probably contacted once a year to figure out what was going on, and was told "management will get back to you". They never did, up until a few weeks ago. The reason my membership went up was because back in 2018, the "Dues Lock In Fee" was never paid (they literally have my card information on file). At the time of signing up, they said my monthly fees wouldn't go up. It took you 4 years to tell me that?! To which management said "Well this is the first time I am hearing about this, and I called you right back". Yeah, no. Again I have been trying to contact management for the last four years, and not a single response. To find out, again this was due to an error at the time of signing up? In trying to resolve it, I had two options. They could throw in some personal training (which I declined, since I am being trained by their former trainer), or I could sign up for the Lifetime Membership which they would waive the annual fee. I ALREADY PAID AN ANNUAL FEE with my current plan for the year! Ultimately I said look if you can bring it down to the original price, I'll continue being a customer with yall. They couldn't, so I decided to leave. I genuinely wanted to stay, but with the way management dealt with this, no thank you. This gym is extremely dirty, and I have gone at almost all times. I know they have people who clean the gym, but it's disgusting. Bathrooms look like they are cleaned once, and 9/10 times it's always dirty when I come. I feel like the same machines are always needing to be fixed. The only good things about this gym were how polite the front desk workers were and their inbody scan! Erin is extremely friendly and so polite! I didn't work with all their trainers, but the one I did work with was amazing. It 100% sucked to see her go. The best part of the gym was the in body scan (probably the only reason I wanted to keep the membership). If you are looking for a basic cheap gym, please by all means go ahead.
