This sounds like a ridiculous thing to have to say but in this world of HMO's where you get 7-10 minutes with a doctor who is expected to see 50 patients a day having someone that makes you feel heard and actually cared for is a BIG DEAL. She is calm, smart and attentive. There is a relationship and a consistency built up over time. When I called with a positive COVID test she called back immediately, assessed the situation, prescribed Paxlovid and reassured me she'd be there if needed. When I was depressed dealing with aging parents I called asking for an anti-depressant and she talked me out of it in a very sympathetic manner. When the Pharmacy couldn't fulfill the diabetic medication she prescribed she gave me samples until they finally got the Insurance company to cover it. It took MONTHS! That was amazing. A few days ago I got a copy of my lab results from Quest. I printed it out and highlighted what I needed to ask her about. She answered every question thoroughly. My Cholesterol is High but she didn't immediately jump to prescribing a Statin. Which is what the Insurance companies want to see to justify paying her. She asked about diet, lifestyle, sleep, stress. All the right questions. She's been in practice a long time and has an established personal network of MD's she works with. She referred me over to a very good Endocrinologist and Allergist. I could go on but suffice it to say she is a good GP. Her staff? No complaints. Alondra handles the prescription renewals and has actually been very nice, responsive and helpful. Overall, I am grateful for Dr. Hopkins and relieved I don't have to become a faceless number in the HMO system.

Front desk needs better training as well, rude and cold would rather pawn work off then do it.

The staff here is SO attentive and helpful and always guide me with what i need. i came in last week for a physical so i can get a referral since i have providence care network hmo as my health care and immediately was greeted with so much help. the front desk workers were super quick with getting me checked in and one of the staff named sasha got me into the room super fast. she gave me constant reassurance and help when i expressed my needs while providing comfort. I ended up needed to get some labs done which the nurse practitioner referred me to the quest lab diagnostic office that's on the 6th floor of the building. when i went to my appointment there later in the week to get my blood drawn the people in the lab clinic said they didn't take my insurance because it was under "malina/medical" which is NOT the case at all. I have providence care network HMO which is why Dr.Tonekabonis office recommended me there. After the Quest lab kicked me out after i waited all week for my appointment i went to Dr.Tonekabonis officer to express my concern with my insurance and being recommended there. I was in luck when the Office manager Kathy was in and ready to take action! She left the office and went up to the Quest office with me to talk to the supervisor regarding me being denied there because of my insurance plan even though they take it. They ended up giving her a hard time but she didn't stop and helped me find somewhere that could take me that day since i was already fasting for my blood test. She hooked it up and got me into an office for my blood test when i was not scheduled in that office for it. She took action and helped me immediately. Kathy obviously cares about the experience of the clients and works hard for them. Sasha got to take my blood test and i'm one to be squeamish over blood being drawn but she helped comfort me and keep me calm. she was so smooth with taking my blood i didn't even feel her take the needle out or in. This office obviously cares about the needs of their clients and has phenomenal customer service. Sasha and Kathy were amazing along with The nurse Practitioner who did my physical earlier in the week. I will definitely continue to come here and recommend this office to people i know. She suffered respiratory failure and was transferred to Northridge Hospital where she was in ICU for at least a week. Dr. Okhovat did a phenomenal job orchestrating all the necessary specialist MD consults and retreived my mom from deaths door. He was always kind, patient, and available to answer our questions before and after this very serious hospital admission for our mom. We hope he returns to the practice soon, he's a godsend.
