Each year with each vessel starting at 10 ft Zodiac with 10hp Mercury rebuild to 2" foot single I/O V8, going up to 28 foot with twin I/O's . Jon has always been fair and stands behind his work. Over the years we have addressed maintenance and winterizing schedules like clockwork without unnecessary repairs. We take care of arising issues every season as needed and in some Cases mid season emergency repairs which is a big deal for those of us with larger boats who moor for the entire season and don't have them on the trailer. Jon is a nice guy who knows his stuff. I had him service two of my outboard motors, and he came to the Marina and did the work on site. His rates are very reasonable, and he does a good job explaining what he is doing, and what you need to do in order to keep your motor in good shape. Its really convenient to have mobile repair-saves you the hassle of lugging your motor around and dealing with repair shops. Customer Service - Jon is a very nice guy and very professional. Showed up exactly when he said he would. Cash, credit card, or check - he was able to take any. As a bonus, he will happily teach you just about everything regarding boat motor repair and maintenance while he works - and he seems to know everything. While we were talking, he filed a bunch of nicks out of my prop at no charge. Cost - I want to say the cost was fair, but I honestly think it was a bargain. His hourly rate is probably comparable to what you'll get anywhere else. He knows exactly what he needs to do and works very efficiently. Use this guy! My 15hp Yamaha motor took a running bath in salt water and I thought it was likely toast. Made an appointment with Jon and he showed up 10 minutes early. Took out the plugs, pull started the water out of the cylinders, did a compression test, replaced the plugs, dried out the carb and ran it in my recycle bin. Good as new. I used Jon for the first time for the 100 hour service and winterizing my boat (Bluewater Escape/Volvo Penta engine 7 drive), installing a bilge pump, and a few other maintenance things, and was quite pleased. He is quite knowledgeable, thorough, neat, efficient. He talks a lot and gives good advice and explains why he is doing what he does. I will use him for the launch as well and can comfortably recommend him. He gets a $100.00 per hour, travel time and parts. I felt that the $850 I paid him was a fair price. He charges a flat $100.00 fee for launch service and that is quite reasonable. Book several weeks in advance as he is a busy guy. read more

Motor would not even start. 3 hours later he rebuilt intake pump changed motor oil and gear oil rebuilt carb, and had motor running like a champ. He only charged me for 2 hours of labor. I recently had my 90hp Mariner condemned by a large marine shop. I called Jon for a second opinion and he came over and reviewed the bill and said he would see what he could do. He reviewed their work, didn't repeat anything that they had already done and concentrated on seeing if he could get it running. He knew quickly it wasn't anything catastrophic and suggested he take it to the Columbia and keep it tailored and put the engine under-load. He adjusted the carbs and in about 30 minutes had it running great. I think the first shop did carb work and rebuild the fuel pump but didn't have the skill to tune it up so they told me the engine was shot. Best $250 I've ever spent, I would recommend this guy to anyone, great customer service.--tom read more

While looking online for recommendations for a service facility to repair my boat steering, I found a reference for Jon's Mobile Marine Service. I googled his number and gave him a call yesterday and left a message. He called last night and we made an appointment for this morning 'just to take a look' to make sure there was enough room to remove the cable without needing to remove one of the engines. Jon arrived right on time this morning. He introduced himself and walked over to our boat and said 'why don't I give it a couple of taps with the hammer to see if we can move it a bit'. Long story short, after over an hour of work, my steering is like brand new. Jon was very descriptive of what he was doing and provided lots of information on maintenance and care to keep things right once he was done. All I can say is I was more than impressed. He seemed very knowledgeable and charged a very fair price and much less than what I would have paid to take it somewhere and all the work was done in my driveway.
