I'll be the first to admit: going to the dentist is not exactly my favorite hobby, however life (and teeth) happens. I arrived with one goal in mind: fix the tooth. Nothing more, nothing less. Front Desk & First Impressions: The front desk receptionist was warm, friendly, and charming. The lobby was cute with light music playing which is a nice touch for someone whose nerves were already plotting an escape. The wait time was short, and I was called back quickly. The restroom was clean! Dental Assistant & Dentist: The dental assistant was very kind and personable, though I wasn't my usual chatty self since it was early and I was on a tight schedule. After X-rays, the dentist came in, introduced herself, and asked thorough preliminary questions. I especially appreciated her sensitivity in making sure my chipped tooth wasn't the result of any unsafe circumstance. Before I knew it, she reclined the chair and began working. My heart was racing, my palms were sweaty, and I was moments away from calling for a timeout-but suddenly, she was done. Quick, efficient, and practically magical. Things I Didn't Love: I wasn't a fan of the music playing during the appointment. I also didn't enjoy being approached mid-appointment by a receptionist requesting payment before treatment. While I understand the business perspective, having completed all paperwork online, checked in, and provided my insurance card, l assumed payment at the end would have been sufficient. Quality of Work: Despite the minor hiccups, I was very pleased with the actual dental work. My tooth looked great. Second Visit - Even Better I returned for a second visit on Thursday and received the same warm greeting and short wait time. This time, jazz was playing this is an immediate improvement and I have zero complaints. I met the dental hygienist, Amika, who was incredibly gentle and completed a thorough assessment of my mouth, including bitewing X-rays. I also really appreciated the diversity within the staff, which made me feel even more comfortable and welcomed. I met with Dr. Smalls again to create a dental plan that genuinely feels customized and solution focused- truly living up to the name Smile Solutions!

Still in pain, went back and treated for a high bite. Still in pain 2 weeks after, find out I need a root canal, on the same tooth after 10 xrays were taken. The practice utilized all of my insurance allowance. I was told Dr Miller, the owner that drilling thru the new cap was "more complex" than his abilites so i was referred to an outside surgeon. Yes, i was asked to cough up another 1.8K as they dont take insurance. Still in pain with no insurance and either pay 1.8K or have the new crown pulled. Great position they left me with. AVOID THIS PRACTICE if you want good dental healthcare.

Like I said before I had a bad infection and they got me in same day; however, once he began the procedure he was mostly concerned with how I was doing and if I felt ANYTHING! He didn't want me to be in any pain. Zero. So given that my tooth was so bad he wanted me to come back to finish and let my antibiotics do some more work in the meantime. Didn't charge me extra and didn't rush anything. This guy is a perfectionist and if you want your mouth taken care or properly then there is no where else to go. I have to say the root canal experience everyone warns you about was actually as enjoyable as a root canal could possibly be. I would give this practice 20 stars if possible.

I just only wanted confirmation a few days before my appointment regarding payment details but that was an issue with my email address missing a letter so just confirm. Otherwise you are in great hands! I was in a bit of pain when I left because I was allergic to red dye for the advil but she even prescribed me more medicine and I'm not in pain just about 5 hours later! As the photo of that document shows, my deductible was fully applied to my cleanings, my remaining balance for the gum care was a flat $100.00, and my upcoming fillings were listed as a $0.00 patient responsibility. I paid my deductible upfront and paid the remaining $100.00 balance exactly as the document required. Months later, after my insurance had already processed the claims and paid them, they completely changed their story. They sent me a surprise bill demanding nearly $680.00, completely refusing to honor the pricing agreement their own staff printed and handed to me in December, claiming these prices were a courtesy estimate. They are trying to hold me responsible for this new, unexpected balance for both the cleanings and the fillings. Since I formally disputed these unfair charges in writing using their own December printout, the office locked me out of the billing portal so I couldn't access those records. Because they refuse to honor their written pricing, I have filed formal complaints with the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners, the NC Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, and my insurance company.
