I don't believe they do surgery at this facility but they do micro needling, botox, and injectable fillers. I can only comment as to #1, as I've been taking my ladyfriend to this facility for two years now. Parking is easy, the lobby is spartan but nice enough as a waiting area, and they do keep to within 20 minutes of their appointment schedule. The ophthalmologist we deal with is the wonderfully named Dr. Relief Jones. He's remarkably knowledgeable, willing to explain complex issues, and does NOT push you towards drugs or surgery while conditions are still manageable with supplements or corrective lenses. I was informed there would be a$50 charge for my glasses prescription which was fine. As the technician, the one bright spot on this visit, is getting me ready for the doctor the receptionist interrupts and tells me that my insurance will not cover the cost and there will be a $330 charge for my visit. I stop my care and go to deal with the receptionist. After I retrieve my referral letter the receptionist consults with billing and determines that they were wrong. I am charged $150( which I intend to dispute with my insurance) for the visit and another $50 for my prescription. The doctor sees me and tells me that she will not give me my prescription without a glaucoma follow up. I tell her I will not be coming back to a clinic that tried to rip me off. I then demand the return of my $50 and the doctor tells the receptionist to refund my money while making a big show of dressing her down. Shortly after I leave I receive a call from the clinic stating they would like to refund $50 of my money. I ask if this is the money I'm already owed or another $50. The person on the phone says it's the money I am owed. I ask why they are calling pretending to be refunding additional money and they immediately seek to end the call. Avoid!

I guessed it might be cataracts. I searched for "best cataract surgeon in San Antonio", which led us to San Antonio Eye Specialists. Oh. My. Goodness. What a welcome and helpful difference in doctors, and outcomes! SA Eye Specialists are in a beautiful facility that is sparkling clean and welcoming. The office staff are friendly, and efficient. The medical staff are phenomenal, from our initial screenings & testing all the way up to and including Dr. Membreno, who now has replaced both my cataracts with the Light Adjustable Lens, while my husband went with Dr. Membreno's suggestion of a Toric lens for his situation. We are both absolutely delighted! I've been through an additional, unexpected (by me) procedure after there was clouding connected to my new lenses, before we could start the light adjustments (I think the "clouding" is called YAG or something? Apparently extremely common; I was lucky mine occurred - and was corrected - prior to the adjustments to my lenses.). All was handled quickly, with everything being explained clearly and thoroughly, from beginning to end. Dr. Membreno is phenomenal, and I'd recommend him in a heartbeat, to anyone with eye concerns. What struck me the most about him initially is his knack for being present: When he's with you, he's 10000% tuned in to YOU. It's as if he has nothing else in the world to concern him aside from you. What a reassuring and comforting experience, especially regarding something as important as your eyes and vision! We now consider San Antonio Eye Specialists our one-and-only eye doctor, as we will be coming here for any & all eye issues we have that fall within their purview. As one who has worn glasses or contacts for ~60 years, saying I'm ecstatic to be able to see is an enormous understatement. Colors are vivid and clear like I don't remember seeing, ever. The poor kid, who is brilliant, froze as I had to ask her if she can repeat the question cause god knows she wasn't because her pragmatic skills were none existent. She's forcing him to putting on drops telling him to stick his head here and there, read this and that. With no explanation or interaction at all. They explained no procedural steps. Finally after a battery of personal space invading tasks. We are asked to wait for Dr. would you believe it he does the same thing. No explanation. I had to ask him what are you doing there doc, this is his first time and hasn't seen these things before. He didn't catch my drift or the boys pragmatics of terror "I'll explain to you when I'm finished" he says. Then "your son's Vision is weak" as my son begins to cry directly behind him "and has a stigmatism" "his eye is shaped like a football, not round". Yes my son heard all of it and understood it all. I immediately asked for a second opinion, respectfully, as his first time for seeing an eye doctor may have incorrectly assumed some directions as they were not specifically clear. He still prescribed lenses never explained procedure and I went on my way having to deal with my son's sad face as he thought the worse.They didn't even show him a model or chart of anything they were doing.

Staff is great. When you make an appt at a certain time they are efficient in getting you in quickly. Dr. P is personable and thorough. Yesterday I had eye pain and diagnosed with a cornea infection. I went without an appt and they squeezed me in quickly as I was in pain. A day later I feel much better and on the mend.
