I tried 3 times to get my piercing jewelry put back in and was never able to get in. Once was on a lunch break at 1pm and only 1 person got in during the hour I waited. You take a number and wait outside for your number to come up. No appointments available and only open noon to 5pm. read more

I waiting over an hour the day prior to get my daughter's ears pierced. The numbers were not changing so I left and decided to return today before it opened to get the first number, which I did. Owner opened her door at 1145 (instead of noon) and because my daughter and husband were going to be there at noon I let another mom and daughter go first. Come 1230, after waiting patiently, the number changes to 3, obviously a mistake because we are now #2. So when I go to the front door, I ring the bell and no one comes out as we are waiting standing in the rain. Finally, I knock on the door and owner comes out and tells me that she has decided to also do work on the mother of the teenager and that she has skipped over us and that it will be another 30 min. No apologies and boom- closed the door in our face! I have never had that happen. The nerve not only of the owner but of the mother who I let go before me, knowing that while they are getting pierced we are waiting outside in our car. Shame on both of them. How can a person who is so rude and disrespectful, have a business. My daughter is completely heartbroken because she witnessed the owner react so horribly and I am mad of how all of this made her feel, our wasted time, and of humanity who today failed us. read more

I have had some pretty big changes in my life and after some careful thought, I decided that I wanted to get my ear pierced. Being a pretty straight and narrow, conservative kind of guy, I was sort of at a loss. Yes, I know an ear lobe piercing isn't that big a deal, but it was for -me-, see? No less than three people independently recommended Jori Zan's shop. I got there about fifteen minutes after it opened on a Wednesday, and there were already three customers ahead of me. The guy that helped me was very quiet and businesslike, and reading the other reviews, it seems like that's just who he is. He wasn't particularly helpful, but he knew exactly what was going on. I told him I wanted a lobe done and that I was going to put in a black diamond stud eventually. He went right to a section, pointed out a black stud, and that was, well, exactly what I wanted. He didn't try going on about this, that, or the other and I, personally, appreciate that. I did have to wait a little while. The entire time I was there, people were coming in. It was pretty busy, which says a lot for a business. Also what says a lot is that she's been operating for 18 years now. So when I got in, with Jori, I sort of opened up about why I was getting a piercing. It was oddly uplifting to have her acknowledge and applaud the things I've done and how I was going about modifying my life. She was incredibly easy to talk to and super friendly. She explained the entire process, got everything prepared, and marked the spot. She then put on a temporary ring and had me look at it to see if I liked the placement. She asked me if I wanted it moved at all, but my response was something along the lines of, "You've been doing this much longer than me, I'll trust your judgement." We spent so much time talking about various things, when she had me lean back, I figured she was just making more adjustments. Now, the thing I hate most about Doctor's appointments isn't getting the shot, it's the anticipation. I get really annoyed with nurses who say, "Okay, now, this might pinch a little, here it comes, okay..." and who create a big lead-up. I don't want that. Just stick me, I can take it. I swear. It's the thinking about it that I don't like. So next thing I know, there's some pressure on my ear, and she's put the heated-up hollow needle through. No pierce gun for this woman, she does it the right way, which is why I went here specifically. After it was done, she asked, quote, "Do you love it?" I did. She then spent some time going over cleaning and healing procedures for the next while. She suggested different ways I could go with different pieces of jewelery and suggested I come back with any questions, concerns, or needs. Overall, I couldn't have been happier to go here, for a very unfamiliar and alien process. It couldn't have been easier. I don't know how much these things usually cost, but for the piercing, the stud, and a bottle of organic, hemp-based (ha!) anti-allergenic, hippie soap, it was around 56 bucks. I might have gotten off cheaper going to Claire's in the mall, but it so totally would not have been worth it. read more

Jori Zan is great, but do not come if you have anything else to do that day. We waited a long time (over an hour). There were two people infront of us, but then two more joined them, so we waited over an hour. (Arrived at 3:30, not seen until 4:35 out at 5:10.) Our kiddo missed most of her ballet practice. Had the staff given us an ETA for Jori, we would have come back another day. But we had no idea how long the wait would be until after we paid and we were told 15 minutes (about every half hour). I have never seen anyone else but Jori and some dude (her beau, maybe?) working here, and that tells me loads about the business. Although the dude is a bit standoffish and unyielding to my humor, I like him for his no-nonsense help. Jori is the best piercer I have ever encountered, even though she's never pierced me. Unlike the ruffians at other, more "hard core", body adjustment businesses, Jori is gentle. I had her help me out when I stretched my lobes (just a bit!), and she was UH-MAZ-ING. The selection of body jewelry beats out every other place in town, and would rival some of the more famous jewelers if they sold diamonds. My only complaint is the wait time to be helped if you happen upon the business right after school lets out or on the weekends. You'll find the place overloaded with teenagers who just can't make up their minds about what they want to buy. As such, they end up monopolizing Jori and that dude. read more

I cannot speak to the quality of piercing at Jori Zans, only to the terrible customer service I received. I went in inquiring about the cost of a couple of different piercings, and decided to just purchase a conch hoop I could use as a pierceless cuff. A male sales associate confidently sold me a hoop. Upon getting home and putting it on, the diameter was about 2x too large so that it hung down along where my second lobe piercing is and looked ridiculous. I immediately turned around to exchange it for the correct size (I was gone ~20 minutes), and was rudely informed that he would not exchange the hoop for the correct size because "once the jewelry leaves, it is un-returnable." This would be understandable if a) he had informed me of the store policy before I left, or b) bothered checking to see if was the right size before selling it to me. I couldn't try it on before buying because it was in a sterilized package. Furthermore, the guy was a condescending jerk. Don't buy jewelry unless you know it's absolutely right. If I lived in town, I would discourage anyone I know from patronizing this business as long as that sales associate still works there. That said, I'm sure the piercing services are just fine. read more

Nice clean place, but the piercer didn't seem to be very friendly towards me. As she was marking my ear for my piercing, we realized that it couldn't be placed as I had imagined due to my ear anatomy. I apologized and decided that didn't want to go through with the piercing if I wasn't going to be happy with the placement. She didn't seem very responsive or understanding and asked me why I thought it would be possible to place the industrial the way I wanted in an negative and accusatory tone. She seemed annoyed and told me, "Well, it will be $10 for the cost of setup." She did suggest a couple other ear piercings and asked if I wanted to get them done instead. *shrug* I just wasn't getting a good vibe from her; she just didn't seem too genuine or interested in me and my piercing. Anyway, she seems very experienced and competent (went to Fakir School of Piercing and sometimes teaches there). I guess our personalities didn't quite mesh? I prefer Emily at Addictions who seemed more responsive to my needs and was genuinely interested in me and making my piercing look great. Jori's does have a good selection of body jewelry and I like that they custom bend their jewelry to fit each person. I'm happy with the quality nose stud I purchased from them. read more

So we showed up, checked in, waited for an hour or two as new people were walking in and being taken back before us. I finally asked when she would be able to get to us, she said it definitely wouldn't be today because she had 17 people on the list that were "showing back up". I guess if you put your name down on a list you can leave, come in later and be guaranteed to skip in front of people who had just walked in? How much longer were they going to let us sit there thinking we were going to be next? Also, it would've cost almost $90 for a basic earlobe piercing. I have a lot of piercings, and have been pierced by multiple people, some were not so good, some good, and some were really great. But now I have finally found my piercing guru-- Jori! She is hands down, my absolute favorite piercer that I've ever encountered! She is very professional and incredibly skilled, plus I always enjoy chatting with her about non-piercing related topics. She makes suggestions tailored to your specific anatomy, and I trust her judgement. In my case, we've come up with a game plan for my next few piercings that I know that I want based on healing and what would look good on me. In addition to her skill level, the quality of jewelry offered is extremely important!! She sells top of the line jewelry and if you don't see exactly what you want in the displays, you can have pieces ordered specifically for you. Plus she is APP certified, something I always look for when I am considering a piercer. Also of note, her studio is the cleanest piercing studio I've ever been in. It's tastefully decorated and has a calm, open and airy feeling, which I think makes it a non-intimidating and relaxing environment to be pierced in. Instead of actually doing her job, Jori closes shop to go out and play instead and when you drive out of the way to have something done, it's half likely it'll be closed DESPITE the hours saying it's supposed to be open! Well I have to say I am so amazingly impressed with the customer service I received today. I know that her shop keeps similar hours to the salon industry. I was driving by to go to an out of the way beauty supply and decided to stop for a nose hoop I have been wanting. Jori Zan's was closed but there was an employee inside. He answered my knock. He let me in and measured my previous piercing and sold me my hoop during closed hours. EXEMPLARY CUSTOMER SERVICE. YAY for me and kudos to this shop.
