Bogo sales are final, but he provided a gift receipt when I told him the shoes were for someone else who doesn't make it out there too often. The person loves the shoes, but due to a foot issue, they were a little tight on her, so she actually came to the store and moved up a size (and had to pivot to different colors) on her subsequent visit. I'm so glad the employee offered the gift receipt. Had he not, we'd be stuck with some shoes that couldn't be worn and we'd be reluctant to try the Merrell Outlet again. Now we're fans!

Tried several pairs--none quite right. A sales associate in a fringe jacket "helped" -- she grabbed a few pairs, but one was three sizes smaller than I asked for. As I went back into the fitting room for a second time, she said, "Round two, huh?" Came out with two pairs I was considering. She found different sizes, then asked if I wanted to "take them home to try on." I said I live an hour away. Her reply: "So no then?" I asked another associate to hold the jeans while I decided to pay full price for jeans that still had waist gapping. As I left, the fringe-jacket associate went to the counter and started talking about me to the staff. Every item I tried on was re-hung or folded neatly on the chair -- I worked retail before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, so I know the struggle of running fitting rooms. Madewell's brand is built on inclusion, confidence, and helping every customer find their perfect fit -- values I've always appreciated. Unfortunately, this experience didn't reflect that at all. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome instead of supported.

Now on to logistics; customer service is on point. I was greeted with a warm smile and asked if there was anything I needed help finding immediately. I wanted to give the entire store a once over before I committed so I held off on the guided tour and did some thorough research of the place. I was not hassled at any time through your the process. Once I did decide I wanted a fitting room help was on-hand and I didn't have to go hunting an associate down to get a room. The fitting room was nice & roomy, well lit and equipped with a large bench, full-length mirror & hooks. The fabrics vary depending on the item; sweaters, cotton tees, draped back blouses, running leggings, cropped training pants, yoga tights, hoodies, bra, jumpsuits, sport tops with built-in bra. I tried it all... They all felt good. The fabric is from the same factory as Lulu actually. Not comparing the two stores but just so you have an idea. I enjoyed the vivid colors available. Price points were totally respectable and not extravagant by any means. I concluded my first visit with a 4 item purchase and left a happy new customer. Can't wait to put my new gear to work in the gym and report back on how the attire holds up under the stress of my weight training and cardio sessions.
