Just got sized and bought a suit here for a job interview, the entire suit buying process went smoothly and the younger gentleman was very kind and helpful. When I sat down to try on shoes, another employee (a black guy in a purple suit) must have thought I left the room and began talking shit on me with the customers he was helping WHILE IM SITTING IN THE ROOM. Talking about where my job interview was at and laughing to each other. Beyond unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth after what would have been a great experience. We had a horrible experience. There were not any other customers in the store and four employees were working. The older lady whom we ask questions was rude, abrupt and not helpful. Finally, I said clearly you're not willing to help us so we are leaving and she actually replied "good." I have never received this type of treatment in a store before. Sizing was so bad that I am paying $375 for alterations at a different store and the only solution provided was "return it". Suit is for a friends wedding that I am in, can't be returned (I have to wear it and it needs to be altered!). Customer service is a joke and so are the people working there. I've bought a different suit there before that ripped my first time wearing it. I wouldn't trust them to change a lightbulb let alone make/size/tailor a suit. I'd give 0 stars if I could. read more

Great range of styles and prices with friendly helpful sales people - always available when you have questions or need them. If you wish to browse through their hundreds of suits, blazers, etc on you own, not a problem. They are also laid back, and no sales pressure whatsoever. This place is especially good in that they have an extremely large stock on hand and have plenty of bargain priced merchandise and upscale men's wear. I needed some short term low cost clothes for a wedding and picked up a very nice blazer for $129 and a very nice white dress shirt for $24.95. I've been wanting to get a high styled retro hat with brim, but saw prices up to $300 online for Borsalinos, and of course I would not be able to try on a hat online. St Louis Suits had a very nice dress hat selection starting at $29 for some of last year styles, and I ended trying on many and picked a high quality hat for $49 - one of their more expensive hats. They quickly measured and determined my new sizes for blazer and shirt as I recently lost 55 lbs and did not know my size - none of my old clothes fit, which was why I was shopping in the first place. Very nice relaxed friendly atmosphere with lots of good stuff to browse through. Staff is uniformly upbeat and accommodating. One of my best men's clothing buying experiences ever. P.S. They did warn me in advance that if I needed alterations they are behind and there is at least a 2 week wait. Don't be discouraged, it's easy to go elsewhere. There must be half a dozen alteration shops within a 10 minute drive. read more

We are so pleased we went with St. Louis Suit Co. for the suits for our wedding! My husband had utilized the other major suit rental places for previous weddings and had always been underwhelmed due to pricing, sizing, service, etc.. After utilizing St. Louis Suit Co. for another wedding he was in and seeing that the pricing was almost the same to buy the suit and have it fit you perfectly from here, as it was to rent from the other major retailer, it was a no-brainer! We are so pleased with our experience, and heard nothing but good things from our groomsmen as well - they were able to get their suits ordered & altered in one location! They could also buy shoes & shirts at a really good price - it is so convenient being a one-stop shop for their outfit. Its unbelievable the family is still is business! we've had four weddings with STL Suits and two more coming. It was the whole wedding party (males) getting new suits over the past 4+ years. Last month a groom needed his pants alterations corrected THAT THEY CAUSED and the old man and family refused. And not without a screaming match. Twenty dollar alteration that we would have paid but they said NO. Unbelievable. Don't be fooled by the daughter and wife's customer service they are just as nasty as the father. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I encourage anyone who's considering this store for their suit needs to read about my experience before going to them: Saturday, 3/16 - I ordered 5 suits for my groomsmen. We were told they would arrive in 5-10 business days (two weeks). 5 days later, I was called about changing the order from a 3-piece to a 2-piece because the brand doesn't make vests in the same color anymore. I agreed; this can be a simple fix. Tuesday, 4/2 - 12 days after approving the two-piece order, I called to check on the status of the suits. Only two had come in; That's fine - we were told they would be in shortly. Monday, 4/8 - nearly a week later, I checked in again. I was told the suits were never ordered because I never gave them the "okay" to order the two-piece suits. So why was I told there were already two in-store? They blamed me for this mistake. I went to the store in person to order the vests. But wait... those two suits WERE in store. ??? I ordered the vests and decided I would return next week to get the vests and all of the suits. Monday, 4/15 - I called again to make sure the vests and remaining suits were in. An older man answered the phone and told me "Calling this much won't make them come any faster," In my speechlessness at this comment, he hung up on me. I had only called them four times at this point, none of which were during the 5-10 business days I was told. I called again to ask for a tracking number, since I was getting no communication from the store. The same man answered and immediately denied giving me a tracking number. He placed me on hold. After a few minutes of waiting, a woman answered the phone and gave me the tracking number. I asked why the man told us we couldn't get one, to which she replied that she had no idea why he would say that. The suits were set to arrive Wednesday 4/17. Tuesday, 4/16 - I went to the store to pick up the two suits that had been delivered. The price per suit was ~ $175. Wednesday, 4/17 - The rest of the suits had been delivered, according to the tracking number. I went to the store to pick them up. This time, I had the displeasure of working with the older man in person, who acted very annoyed that I did not wait for their call (even though they have given me no communication whatsoever - how could I have expected a call from them? We are also now very crunched on time). He gives me the total: ~ $190 per suit. Upon asking why, he told me that the $190 was the right amount: "~$149 for the two-piece and ~$25 for the vests." (This equals $175...) He refused to change the price until seeing "proof". I asked him to find it in his own records and lo and behold, I remembered correctly: $175 per suit. After paying, I asked why this was such a difficult process.This man doubled down and told me again that it was my fault for never placing the order. I said that this wasn't true, and he told me to prove that I ordered them, to which I asked him to prove that I didn't. He sifted through his notes, which have already proved unreliable from the lack of consistent communication. He didn't show me any proof. After a month of being led on and disrespected by this man and his business, I told him that the service was ridiculous. He told me that I've "got some balls" to comment on his service like this, then threatened to call the police on me if I didn't leave immediately. I left, and now my groomsmen are strapped for time to get alterations. read more

I went in with my fiancé and we found ties for our groomsmen and a bow tie for him. Their bow tie collection is stunning! This is a family store and Nick, the son, helped us out. Very nice. My husband and I went in earlier today to look for a few new suits (for my hubby). When we arrived we browsed for a bit and then Nick asked if we needed help. We let him know what we were looking for and then Nick quickly offered his assistance. He guessed my husband's jacket and pant size (spot on)! Nick quickly reached for a jacket and it was a perfect fit! Then he asked me my hubby to try on the pants for measuring. Once the pants were on Nick pinned and folded the pants for a good fit and suggested some alterations. It was too easy! Since we knew the brand that fit, we were able to grab 1 additional suit in a different color and we were all set! Nick let us know that we could come back on Saturday to pick up the suits (after alterations were complete). We paid and were on our way. This was a quick and painless shopping experience for us; we now have a local place for suits and all the accessories. Oh, and the price is very reasonable too! Well, I have to say it was the great Yelp reviews that talked me into trying out this business. The last suit I bought was from Famous Barr over a decade ago. I have been needing a new suit for quite a while. I was greeted by the sales lady as soon as I walked in and I kid you not it wasn't 20 minutes later I had a new suit, shoes, shirts, etc. The suit was tailored within two business days and everything was so incredibly affordable. I don't know anything about fashion but my first initial thought brings me back to almost 10 years ago when I was shopping at Men's Wearhouse, and ALL they did was try to upsell me, from cologne to jeans. I was a dollar sign to Men's Wearhouse. For the last 10 years I've avoided getting fitted for a suit because I hated the salesy feeling you get going into box stores. St. Louis Suit Co has changed that feeling for me. I will never shop anywhere else besides this company. No I am not paid to write this, I am writing because I have had my expectations exceeded. I walked in, and within 30 seconds I was introduced to the son and father. They tailored my time there to my exact needs. NO UPSELLING. Infact, the son got me a suit $36 cheaper than the one I liked, because they were almost the exact same. I don't have a tailor, these guys are now my tailor. In 30 minutes, I got the suit I desired, they measured me and got the correct measurements. They are tailoring my suit for me, and I got exactly what I wanted - no upselling. I will be back. I will never shop anywhere else for dress shoes, clothing, ties, suits, etc. They dropped everything for me the second I walked in, I know they will for you. The salesman was a pretentious jerk who felt the need to inform me how long they have been in business( which isn't even that long). No less than 4 trips to close the deal. When i arrived on the scheduled pick up date they informed pick up times are 4:00p-6:00p? Jeesh, just say the next day so people can come anytime instead of making them show up twice. Oh, and complain and the sloppy owner points to an old dingy 6 inch sign barelylegible and boasts it says it right there! STL suit company helped us pick the perfect black tuxedos for an affordable price for all our groomsmen. They have more suits available and ready to ship more quickly compared with tuxedos, but all of ours arrived on time. STL Suit company would be a safer option if you choose suits over tuxedos as well. All the groomsmen looked great in their tuxes and some had it altered for an affordable price at STL suit company. One groomsman's pants didn't fit and they exchanged them within the same day. Their employees were all familiar with our wedding and could update us every time we called to check in. The tuxedo delivery date was pushed back twice, thus we received them a month before the wedding when we picked them out 6 months prior. There was some anxiety on our part regarding the tuxes arriving on time. The company can not guarantee that the tuxes would arrive by wedding date, and told us if they don't arrive we would move to a back up plan. It is also the couple's responsibility to ensure everyone gets measured, sends their sizes in and either calls to pick it up or calls to have it shipped. Overall happy with the product & customer service, but would have liked a guarantee that tuxes would be in on time to avoid stress before the wedding. read more

Absolutely horrid!!! Thieves! On April 29th, 2019 I purchased a suit, shirt, two ties and a pair of shoes from St Louis Suit Company for an upcoming job. After purchasing, the pants were hemmed. Shortly thereafter I discovered I would no longer need the clothing and I brought the merchandise back to the store. On April 29th, 2019, Nick happily took the entire order back, and processed a return to my card for the full purchase price of $245. At no time was I ever made aware of their return policy regarding worn or alerted merchandise, in fact when I came into the store to return, Nick never asked what condition the clothing was in. Two days later I had not received the $245 back to my account so I called. Immediately Nick identified that I had returned merchandise and told me that I wore the clothes and the pants were hemmed so tha voided my return and I need to come "pickup your shit". I was then hung up on. I called back immediately and said I'm sorry we must have gotten disconnected. Nick informed me the there was no disconnection, he simply hung up on me. I was told again to come pickup my shit and no refund was being issued and hung up on again. Yet again I called back and requested the manager at which point in time I was hung up on immediately. I attempted to speak with the owner (Jay) who refused to issue a refund and stood by his son Nick despite being in the wrong. I have been advised by Clayton police department who got involved as well that this action is illegal and very surprising for a business that claims to be as professional as they do. This business is a disgrace!!! How can you say you provide quality customer service yet curse, refuse to cooperate and hang up on your customers??!!!! The fact of the matter is that I was not properly made aware of their return policy and NICK did not ensure the clothes met the policy before he issued my refund. ADDITIONALLY, the refund was illegally voided and I was NEVER NOTIFIED that there was even a problem! Had I not called I would have no idea there was any kind of an issue!!! I want to recommend this wonderful shop to everyone! My fiance and I walked in on a Saturday around 3:45 pm and were out the door with a suit (jacket, pants, and vest) for our wedding within an hour and a half. That included excellent personal service from Ty, working with the kind and knowledgable tailors, and buying two shirts to decide on for our wedding since they were on sale! My fiance is just on the cusp of big and tall sizes, and we usually can't find his size in stock in department stores and other big stores. St. Louis Suit Co not only had his size but the gorgeous, well made suit was 2-3x cheaper what we would have paid in a big box store! It was such a good experience to walk in and have his sizes available. The tailors were also fantastic, and worked with us when we talked about how we wanted the suit to fit. They were so helpful and knowledgable! We also got great service from Ty, who walked us through from start to finish. This is a family business and the personable touches are evident. I can't say enough great things about this place. We will never go to a big box store like JOS Bank or Men's Warehouse again, and we will always be customers of St. Louis Suit Co. read more

I came to STL Suit Co per the great recommendations on Yelp and I'm glad I made the trip. Normally when supporting local, you often pay a little more than you would at the bigger stores but it's generally worth it. Especially when it comes to customer service. I'm getting married in January and thought I would stop by to check out the goods. It's a pretty big store and they have a large selection. The major draw here is the prices. You can easily get a suit off the hanger for $200 or less. This is possible at other stores but you'd have to combo it with a bunch of sales (cough, cough Macy's). Some of the suits are lower quality but not THAT bad and you can go as nice as you're willing to pay. If you're in need of an affordable suit, especially if you're in a pinch, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. I wish I knew about this place in my earlier years. Job interviews, weddings, prom, would have been perfect. I didn't make a decision/purchase on my visit and I'm not sure that I will but I'll check in later to see their new product. read more

Purchased two suits of great quality as well as two shirts and give ties. Also decided to have my suits tailored there as it was only $26 per suit. I'm from out of town, but I was in a friend's wedding in STL. While I was visiting a month before the wedding, I stopped in to see if I could try on my suit and get any alterations that I needed done. I walked into the shop which was wasn't busy as it was early on a Friday afternoon. After standing around for a bit, a guy with a ponytail finally asked me what I needed, I explained why I was there. He just looked at me and went "ok?" in a rude tone. I gave him some other details when the wedding was etc., and I was once again met with a rude attitude. I didn't realize asking to try on a suit I was purchasing would be asking too much of a suit shop. Once I have the suit on, and he is marking it for alterations, that is when he cranks the rudeness up multiple notches. He starts making multiple comments about my body, and how my butt and thighs are way too big for the pants, and even though the waist fits, I'm "really filling out the rest of the pants." This isn't just once. He mentions it MULTIPLE times. He also started making comments about how my shoulders are screwed up and telling me I have to adjust the jacket a certain way. He says he can let the pants out in the legs, so I'm thinking everything is ok. Fast forward to the day of the wedding when I put on the suit, my friend had picked it up for me because I wasn't going to be able to make it back to STL until the wedding. Instead of altering the pants like he said he was going to do, he altered a size 40 pant (I wear a size 34). The best part is he didn't even alter the pants correctly. There was at least a three inch gap in the waist, and the pants weren't hemmed correctly. In fact they were so ridiculously long that I had to "hem" them myself with safety pins for the wedding. Now I have a suit I paid over $200 for that doesn't fit correctly, and that I can only hope another competent, attentive tailor who isn't lazy and doesn't scam people by using shortcuts in their process can salvage the shoddy work done by St. Louis Suit Co. Needless to say, I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I'm not the only one who had issues in the wedding either. The bride and groom as well as other groomsmen have their own horror stories to tell about this dreadful place, their terrible work, and their pathetic excuse for costumer service. read more
