Staff were so friendly and helpful; this is really what you want in a shopping experience. I fall at the bottom of their size range and because of my height sometimes have a hard time finding clothes that fit, but I found two beautiful coats (one a Tall!) and an amazing dress, and the total for these three items was less than $130, which is what a new coat might cost at Land's End (the brand of one of the coats I bought here)! I will definitely be back, and will check out the second shop in Rockford when I'm there for the Japanese Gardens. Helpful hint: my GPS told me I had arrived but I didn't see the sign and so circled the building needlessly: it's in the window!

To begin with, upon walking in, I was immediately greeted, warm and genuinely, by both associates. The store was very neat, and well put together. For what from the outside appeared to be a relatively small store front, I was pleasantly surprised at the wide amount and different variety of clothing there was to choose from. I'm not a great shopper. I'm more used to wearing old bleach stained shirts with(unintentional holes). I was a bit out of my element, and slightly embarrassed. Both woman made me feel immediately welcome and at ease. They started by asking me some questions about my general style (non-existant)and what I thought I'd feel comfortable in. They both got to work pulling various items, like experts, with ease, and neatly placing them in a dressing room. They helped me through out the entire process. They made me feel comfortable, not rushed or pressured. I ended up buying several pieces, that I was thrilled over, and in addition, they happily help additional pieces I wanted, but wasn't able to purchase until the next day after I got paid. My one and only little downside, was I did feel the cost of the clothing was quite pricey. Unfortunately, that will keep me from being able to frequent the store as frequently as I truly would like. Staff was very helpful and nice, and we both found a bunch of stuff! Their prices are very affordable: I got three dresses, a skirt, and a top for sixty bucks! You can't beat it. They also do consignment for items that suit their needs. Definitely worth a visit!

Both my friend and I felt incredibly welcomed and a lack of judgement. It was a refreshing experience and I don't know why I was surprised. Maurices makes cute clothes for a variety of body types and sizes, and they recognize that everyone has a right to feel fabulous. I definitely can't wait to go back and help my friend walk out with a new wardrobe, lol.

After 1 minute in the door and 4 items already in my hands, I told Sara I think I hit the jackpot! It's been awhile since I've been to Maurice's, so I forgot how much I love their selection! Sara hooked me up with a dressing room so I could free up my arms for my items. Another girl took the next batch and I was soon on my way to the fitting room to try on the 10+ items I found. While I loved everything, I narrowed it down and went to checkout. I asked the girl about the current sale (better late than never, right?!) and although none of my items qualified, she hooked it up with a $50 off coupon. Thanks for a great experience!! I have had these jeans for maybe a year but I probably wore them less than a dozen times. Chicos said this is normal wear. I disagree. I have one pair of jeans in my closet with a ripe; they are over 15 years old. Even other Chicos jeans from the same time period show no signs of wear; this is obviously a poor fabric. But shouldn't they acknowledge that and offer me another pair of jeans? I'm done with Chicos.

One employee spoke to the lady who came in behind me and immediately told her about their current sales and other items. I looked around and decided to try on a couple of items. The employee frequently checked with the other customers in the store on how they were doing and if they needed any help, but not me. When I went to the dressing room another employee a young woman ignored me as if I was invisible. She didn't say you can go into any dressing room she just turned her back to me and pretended I was not there. I proceeded to the first dressing room. When I came out. The same woman was there and she didn't ask if the clothes worked out or if I needed any other sizes she just turned her back to me again and ignored me. So I just dropped the clothes on rack next to her and walked out of the store. Even though I was interested in purchasing one of the items I tried on, I decided I was not going to purchase at a store that treated me with such disrespect, disregard and clearly racism. They do not deserve my money. Staff is extremely unfriendly and lack of customer service. I will not be returning nor will I purchase items online. I will be sharing my experience with my friends & family and urge them NOT to shop here.

This store has improved greatly over time. The staff is much friendlier and more helpful. The store also seems much cleaner and more organized. Even if race wasn't the issue, Kam's customer service skills are reason for concern. "I entered the store, walked to the only person behind the counter (Kam) who looked up, sighed, and said other side. I walked over, waited for Kam to finish what she was doing. Kam took my jeans (in the bag they were shipped in) begin pushing buttons, inspected my receipt, and asked "do you have the visa?". I told her I didn't want to return, I wanted to exchange. Kam looked flustered and begin looking back and forth, saying nothing. I asked "are exchanges allowed?" "Am I allowed to look around?", Kam begin questioning if I wanted to exchange them for the same style (loose) and inferred that additional money made be needed as if that would turn me from exchanging or additional shopping. I told her if needed, I can pay more. After this interaction everyone one else in the store was extremely helpful and nice, I walked out with jeans that work well for me and a AE hoodie. I am a middle age black man shopping in a upscale superb area (address below), and fear that Kam treated me differently because of that. Unfortunately prejudice is not a new to me but is still inexcusable. I have friends who would benefit from your clothes (price/fit) but situations like this make it hard " AEOs response...
