I am easy to please. I came to this Jos A Bank store in Sugar Land was because I don't want to pay the toll to Memorial City store. When I got there, I found parking right in front of the store. I guess it was due to t0he rain, I was the only customer at the store. A gentleman approached me and said "welcome to Jos A Banks." I like his attitude. I was desperately looking for a nice fitting dress shirt and a jacket. I have been suffering from unfitted suits to formal functions. Thank goodness, all events were dark. No one paid any attention to my outfit. But next year, I will be attending an outdoor wedding event. I definitely need something jazzy and snazzy. The only name I know is Jos A Banks. Seriously, I really don't know anyone else sells good looking shirts and jackets. Not to mention, I was wearing Jos A Bank's sweater when I walked in to try on other clothes. I wish I know the salesman's name. He was very knowledgeable and polite. I was rookie with formalwear. He took his time to measure my upper body to find me the best fitting suit jacket and dress shirts. He taught me the difference of shirt styles: Slim Fit (definitely not me), Tailored Fit (that's me) and Traditional Fit (I will get there one day). There was a jacket I saw online. As soon as he saw the picture, he guided me to the dinner jacket section. Yup, that's exactly what the picture shows. I sure will come back during the holidays. I know there are some sales coming up. Walked in without appointment and noticed multiple people shopping. Don Abernathy greeted us the moment we stepped into the store, followed by "how can I help you?". Explained my needs and we headed straight to the suit wall, then got my measurements. Within a few minutes, I was trying on a jacket that fit just as perfect as you could expect without paying a custom suit price. Minute later he found a pair of pants that fit perfect, so off to the dressing room we go. Handed me a pair of dress shoes to test the length of the pant legs and everything just fit perfectly. Spent less than an hour inside the store and left with exactly what I needed. By the way, I need the suit for tonight's company Christmas party, and I got this perfect suit on sale as well!! I like to give praise where praise is due, and Don Abernathy deserves all the praise. Hands down the best customer service experience I have had in a looooong time, refreshing to know high quality customer service still exists. He has a great sense of humor, very knowledgeable, professional and simply a master at his craft. I visited Jos A. Bank recently, and the experience was incredibly disappointing. To start, nobody greeted us when we entered the store, and no one offered help while we roamed around looking for a suit. After finally finding something to try on, I headed to the dressing room. A young guy in a grey suit was standing by the area, so I asked if the dressing rooms were available, since they were wide open. He said he didn't know since he had just got there and didn't do anything to help with the problem. There were some clothes left inside, but I assumed someone had just forgotten them. While I was halfway through trying on a suit, one of the employees knocked on the door and informed me that the dressing room was actually taken and I needed to move. No apologies, no accountability--it felt like we were an inconvenience to them. That left a really sour taste in my mouth. Although I found a suit that fit, I decided not to give them my business. It seemed like they were more focused on the older customers in the store, and even though I'm 29, I believe everyone should be treated with the same level of respect. After giving them the benefit of the doubt despite their bad reviews, I now understand why others had a negative experience. I won't be coming back. read more

Wedding coordinator booked an appointment 1.8.24 at 1400. Arrived expecting "top notch," personable service. Was told in advance which options were available. Get there, different story. Did not feel accommodated. Lack luster service. I'm trying to send 10 groomsmen here, but fine, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Was told by the "MANAGER," Althea that "Al's Formal Wear" is closed. He gave us options based off of our wedding colors and made us feel so comfortable! He made sure to get my fiancés accurate measurements and found something that would look so nice on him for our wedding! Nothing fits, they aren't punctual, and if you have a problem they may seem a little apathetic and want nothing to do with it. Granted, some things are out of their control. I ordered a custom suit in November and it's going to be March and I don't have the pants to my suit. The measurements they took for the jacket don't fit either. It's extremely tight in the arms. The quality of the materials are good but don't expect them to fit if you have an athletic build. Edit: Don is so nice and super accommodating. Very nice choice of words when things go awry and will fill you in as soon as he knows. read more

I have tried to order online 3x now and i am rejected every time. Customer serviced was nice , but could not help only saying their I.T. system is very sensitive try back in 10 days despite I have ordered many times before. At first they tried to blame the credit card bank, but I had the bank on the phone with me. It would charge the card then cancel the sale immediately . The bank verified for them my correct address and card info. Management should get more involved and be more responsive read more

Probably the worst customer service experience that I've ever had, and this is why I shop at Men's Wearhouse. Came in on Sunday, February 16th to get fitted for a custom suit for an upcoming friends wedding. Friend lives in Omaha, Ne and he was purchasing the wedding parties suits as a wedding gift. I was told to go in and be measured to have my info sent to Nebraska so my suit could be made. Easy enough... When I went into the Sugar Land store I was greeted by a woman and 2 gentleman who worked there, and I explained the situation. After they discussed they told me that this could not be done, and the suit would have to be purchased in Sugar Land. They stated that they would not be getting commission or being paid on a deal like this, so I could either buy the suit there, myself, or fly to Omaha and be fitted at the location that the suit was purchased. I called the store manager in Omaha and put them on the phone with the individual working in Sugar Land, and the woman at the Sugar Land store argued in front of me over the phone with the Jos A Bank employee in Omaha. I have NEVER had a customer service experience as poor as this, or had someone tell me that something could not be done because they would not receive a "commission" for helping out. Not only will I never step foot into this Jo A Bank again, I will absolutely do my best to make sure that none of my friends or colleagues ever waste a dollar buying their suits from them again. read more

I''ve been a resident at City Plaza Condos above this location for years and when we finally got engaged, my fiancé and I were super excited to stopped by and inquired about getting fitted and measured with his groomsman and if a appointment was required. The kind gentleman said no and gave him a little more info. Two later 1/6/22 he went with a few of his groomsman and they told me they had a TERRIBLE experience with the woman that worked there. She gave them a hard time and they were told they felt they were not taken seriously. My fiancé told me he was asked a few questions and got confused when she then said "oh now we have to start all over." When he told me this, I was absolutely shocked and furious. I felt terrible when he called wishing he was given a full experience with his groomsman. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED in this woman's customer service. Very pleased with the service and the quality of the goods. The quality of goods at Neiman-Marcus and Nordstroms has gone downhill over the last few years. Terrible. Bought a dark suit for my son to wear to my mothers funeral (on the east coast). Picked up the suit after it was altered and brought it to the funeral. Jos A Bank did not hem the pants so the suit was unusable. Took it back to Jos A Bank and they offered to not charge anything ADDITIONAL for hemming the pants. No concession at all for their screw up. JAB has really gone downhill. read more

I give one star because I can't give a negative. This store is filled with stuff that falls apart after one wearing (NOT washing) and a VERY rude manager. One week after a polo-style men's shirt purchase, I couldn't return it, after the sleeve was coming off. The manager acted like I was trying to pull a fast one, gave me nothing but the cold shoulder and a snotty response. My son, a professional, refuses to ever darken their doorway, in any location, due to inferior quality. It's not wonder that if you buy One pair of socks they'll give you 15 suits for free!! Having only shopped at the Highland Village and now-closed Stafford (RIP) locations before, I was a bit apprehensive since there were so many bad reviews about this particular store. Seeing how I was in the area to run errands anyway, I decided to just get my tuxedo rental fittings done here for my best friend's wedding. While the employee who fitted me was really friendly and helpful, he told me that I had to pay a small deposit even after I had explained my best friend already paid this. He and another lady who was helping him insisted that it was not yet paid for, and that only the groomsmen can pay the deposit when they come to get fitted. Having no experience with their rental process and no response from my best friend, I ended up divvying the deposit money and thought that maybe he really didn't pay it (kek). Lo and behold, my best friend finally calls me back a few hours later and tells me that he already paid for my deposit and that I didn't need to pay for it. He even sends me a picture of the receipt with my name and order number on it showing the deposit had already been paid. I told him that it wasn't a big deal if it would go toward the costs he would have to pay, but he said he would call the store to get it rectified. A few days later, I end up getting a call from their 'manager' who basically repeated the same thing the employees said and that it wouldn't be possible for the groom to put a deposit down for a groomsman's rental. I told her to look up my receipt number and she should see that there are a total of two deposits put down on the rental. After looking up the receipt and finding the mistake, she unapologetically says I would have to come down to the store to get a refund. She did not offer to process the refund without me having to physically be at the store until I expressed that it would be a waste of my time to come down there and that it shouldn't have occurred in the first place. The manager wasn't rude or anything, but it seemed like they felt they did nothing wrong here. Either way, I guess I should have listened to Yelp. The Highland location is the only place I'm visiting from now on if I need anything. The only reason why I'm not giving them 1-star is because the employee who handled the fitting was friendly. That and the store was relatively clean and well-organized. I'm not sure if it was because the employee was new or lacking training, but he and the other employee should have done their due diligence to check whether or not a deposit had already been made on my rental. Some other reviewers had issues with their rentals for varying reasons as well, but I suppose if you're coming here to make a simple purchase, you'll be fine. read more

Run the other way! My husband recently went to Joseph A Bank for tuxedo rentals for our wedding for himself and 7 groomsmen. We chose Joseph A Bank because we thought it would be a higher end rental than many of the other popular wedding vendors. Boy were we sadly mistaken. My husband wanted the slim fit style that is very popular right now. The salesman had him try on the Joseph a bank brand slim fit suit for size and style, and was told it would be the same as the tuxedo rental. It looked great and fit very well. Well, after the tuxedo rental came in, my groom and groomsmen all looked like MC Hammer. The pants were wide legged and extremely baggy, even on some of the heavier groomsmen. The salesman that took their measurements even asked "who fitted you?!" And they responded with "you did!!" They were simply awful. After much debate with the manager, who we had to track down the next day, we found out that their rentals are NOT EVEN JOSEPH A BANK BRAND AT ALL! Apparently, their rentals are "JIMS FORMAL WEAR!" We asked who the heck that was?! All they said was it's "who we rent from." We paid for Joseph A Bank and got this cheap straight from china "Jim's formalwear." Their own employees don't even know their own merchandise at all or how it fits. A receipt is a contract, and no where on it did it say anything about a third party vendor, which I find extremely deceiving and dishonest! The store refused to let us rent the stores suits that they originally tried on and were lied to about, even just for my groom. All the tuxes had to be rushed and reordered in two sizes smaller for everyone. They were simply less than mediocre and I'm saddened to know that my groom did not 100% love his tuxedo and look how he really wanted the day of his wedding. Horrible vendor for a wedding. Run away. They are liars and thieves. Might as well go to some website from china and pay a lot less, and probably receive better customer service. read more

My wedding was this past Saturday, and instead of enjoying a relaxing morning getting ready with my bridesmaids, I was on the phone chewing out Joseph A Banks because I had just found out they ordered the WRONG color vest and tie for our BEST MAN. Thankfully they found a black vest and tie off a mannequin for our best man to wear instead of the silver one they gave him, but it was not the right pattern, and they only came up with this solution after three other bridal party members had already called asking for a solution. I had to go all bridezilla on them, telling them they were ruining my wedding in order for them to come up with a solution!! Totally unreliable. read more

(BEWARE WARNING) they well switch a ($700 suit) which was on sale for ($300) and switch it for a much more CHEAPER and similar version of that $700 suit as to not lose profit in their inventory. The manager of that store Tim gave me a DISGUSTING hard time at the store as I was explaining to him what had happened. He did give me a full refund of what I had spent in that store. However- before giving me the full refund he insisted I show him the physical receipt which I didn't have which was strange because the sales person who assisted me who's name is Phillip- told me very clearly that it didn't matter if I had the receipt or not because they can easily look it up with my phone number when I had first purchased it. So clearly Tim was just giving me a hard time. To sum up my experience. FIRST DAY: I go in to the store to look for a suit- picked a dark navy suit which I fell in love the first time I saw it- but they didn't have my size, so they ordered it for me: SECOND VISIT: I came in to the store because they called me to come and get it fitted (SAME SUIT FROM THE FIRST VISIT) THIRD VISIT: I come in to pick up the suit from the completed fitting ( WHEN I FIRST SAW IT THE THIRD VISIT! IT WAS NOT THE SAME SUIT!!) it was waaaay more darker ( IT LOOKED BLACK!) I could not believe that a location in Sugarland would DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS! YES. I got my money back- but this act is unbelievable UNBELIEVABLE that they do this to the customer- to cheat them for a cheaper version thinking that they can get away with it. The same day I got the refunded for that scam- I went to the galleria mall and bought a suit with the department store Alberto Cardinali which had the same color suit I fell in love with on the first visit to Jos banks in Sugarland TX, but at a much better price. I went to this Joseph A Banks location planning to take advantage of their special New Years weekend sale (my father had heard about it and recommended I check them out). With a budget of around $500, I was planning to buy several business slacks as well as maybe some shirts, ties and a belt. After selecting a couple of pants, I was approached by a sales associate who asked if I needed any help. I asked him about their advertised special sale and he didn't know anything about it (despite it being all over their website and it was already Sunday afternoon---the 2nd and last day of the sale special...not to mention it was their BIGGEST discount sale for the ENTIRE YEAR). He told me that they always have sales and maybe it was only for online purchases (which it wasn't). I decided maybe I was mistaken and tried on a couple of pants any way. After trying out a couple of khaki pants, I came out of the dressing area and the same salesman told me he had just spoken with his boss who told him there was indeed a special weekend sale going on that included store-bought items (though he still seemed very vague and unsure of which pants qualified). I asked if he could recommend some decent business slacks and he showed me a very limited selection of slacks for the entire store (whether this was a smaller store or all of their locations are this limited I'm not sure). Still, I was able to find a couple of business slacks to try on but then it turns out that they all bowed inward at the knees (making my legs look like crooked chicken legs unless I stood with my stomach shoved outward which nobody stands like that unless they're looking straight above them). I was a little confused at first (having bought business slacks before at places like The Men's Wearhouse and Target which never did this). His immediate response? "That's because you folded up the legs." That made absolutely no sense to me since I folded them up specifically to see how they would hang on their own (without touching my shoes or the ground). Still, he's the "expert", right? So we rolled them down and lo and behold---same problem. Then he said, "It's how you're standing." I stood up straight---same problem. Then his excuse became "It's because you're too short." I'm 5'8". Not the tallest person in the world but come on..."too short"? Seriously? At this point, I realized he was extremely incompetent (in more ways than one as already noted) and really didn't have a clue about basic customer service. I politely thanked him and told him I didn't think I could buy slacks that looked like chicken legs. At no point did he try to remedy this fit nor did he recommend anything else that might have worked better so I'm assuming all of their pants are poorly designed like this (too wide around the thighs and tapering severely toward the knees and the rest of the leg). I should note that their khaki long pants fit very nicely and for a minute I considered buying a couple pairs of them but after my experience with this sales associate, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Bought 2 slacks, 5 shirts, spent $500+, did not know how to take off birthday coupon, took 20 minutes to check out. the slacks need tailoring, told it should be cuff and brought a pair from previous purchase as example. The slacks were not a cuff and barely a hem, it was single stitched in zig zag, I know I will be having them repaired soon. Not sure what happened to this brand, but they have really gone down in service and quality of tailoring. read more

Used them for my wedding on 12-1-12, and they appeared nice and congenial to begin with, but our salesperson Stephen Curry was almost useless. He misquoted tailoring prices from the beginning, and he wouldn't talk to my wife with any real attention when she went in to try and handle things when they lost my best man's tuxedo the day before our wedding. They also gave him the wrong tie, and they gave my wife's man of honor the wrong vest. We went in to speak with the manager Allan, and he refused to accept any blame (it's not as though we're trying to get anything for free), and he didn't actually apologize. Nobody there knows how to deal with an unsatisfied customer. When we expressed a desire to call corporate, Allan just said "our store is doing fine" and acted like it was our fault that they messed up. He also gave us two wrong numbers after offering the regional director for us to talk to. We had things to wear, but there were far too many mess-ups, instances of poor customer service, and avoidances of accountability. Never, ever, ever again. read more

I dressed casually and that's how I got his type of service. Do I need to dress up formally to worth your upscale service? The clothes fits well for me. The pricing is reasonable. The service is pretty consistent, attentive, and dedicated. The standards for review are quite subjective, so it will really depend on one's own preferences and personal experiences. Farrell has been quite helpful for years. read more

I visited this store about a month ago with my father who was in need of two new suits. After a while in the store, an employee named Cesar came up to us and assisted my dad in picking out the suits. Cesar spent over an hour with us and was very patient with our decisions. After deciding to purchase the two suits, Cesar called in the tailor to help with the alterations that needed to be made. This is where the experience quickly went downhill. The tailor, Farrell Chaifetz, was bar none the rudest and most arrogant store employee both my father and I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Farrell was extremely short-tempered and was making personal remarks regarding the decisions we were making for the alterations. We were trying to go with a more fitted look for the suits and Farrell gave his full, unadulterated opinion as to why that was a terrible decision. There is a way to give your opinion and this was not it. He was being incredibly unprofessional and we noticed he was treating other shoppers the same way. We were close to simply walking out but we felt bad for the amount of time Cesar had invested, and my father very much liked the suits. Much to our surprise, we later found out that Farrell is the department manager. I figure a manager should represent the values of the store but I shudder to think what the store values by putting him in charge. Buying a suit should be a nice, sociable experience but thanks to Farrell ours was far from it. Neither of us will be buying a suit from that location again while Farrell works there and I suggest others do the same. read more

If you must shop here do not deal with Farrell Chaifetz, he is awful. He does not know sizes, tailoring, or how to use their computer system.
